I can't tell you how many times I have come back and watched this video to get help with a project. There is so much valuable information packed into this video! The final product is absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and skill! Hope you are doing well.

I like the method you used for attaching the bearing to both the bottom and the top. Your method is, in my opinion, the most sensible way of going about attaching the hardware. I bought a lazy susan a while ago and that is exactly how they attached the bearing. Nice build with the chopping board top, that was a nice touch.

Great video. Marvelous job on Lazy Susan. When I was in high school long before you were born. girls were not allowed to take up woodshop but boys could take up homemaking. I wanted take woodshop but I could not. It is nice to see lady(s) on you tube doing wood shopping. You go ladies

Very nice combination of wood. I like the fact that you are willing to say, Oops, and share it. We all goof up occasionally, but some RU-vidrs seem to never make a mistake. Thanks for the tip on centering on a circle.
@DIYMontreal
@DIYMontreal 5 лет назад
Just trying to keep it real! I almost cut it out just to shorten the video, but figured someone else would likely make the same mistake so figured it might be useful.

Beautiful color and pattern on the lazy susan. When I make a lazy susan I router out the backside of the top board to a diameter 1/4" bigger than the bottom board and to a depth equal to the thickness of the bottom board. That gives it an effective look of hovering above the table by the thickness of the bearing.
@DIYMontreal
@DIYMontreal 5 лет назад
Great idea! That would give it a really low profile and would hover like magic.

Wonderful project: you explain all the steps very well, and demonstrate it so its easy to follow and do for oneself. The colours of the wood came out beautifully. Going to make my first one now!. Keep up the good work. (Btw when I was in primary school, my dad had a lovely round table made for us, with a lazy Susan on top, as well as 9 chairs. I've inherited it early, and will be moving it to my house soon. The lazy Susan brings back fond memories).

When I saw you passing the two parts over the jointer I remembered a trick I have recently learnt: pass both halves over the jointer at the same time, after „folding“ them up like closing a book (the sides to be jointed are like the spine of the book). That way the assembled board is guaranteed to be flat, even if the fence of the jointer happened to be set slightly off 90 degrees. You can even extend this technique to deliberately use odd angles and still come up with prfectly flat glue-ups.
@DIYMontreal

Absolutely! I just learned that from MWA woodworks as well. Excellent tip!

Great Video. I just made one out of a wine box top and it came out great. Only problem was that I used the Lazy susan mechanical part from an old tv stand that had the lazy susan mechanism to turn the TV. It is so noisy that it is not good for a dinner table. I have been trying to find a more quiet one but the ones that I find at the big box stores are just as loud. Can you tell me the brand name of the mechanism that you used. I did not think that it sounded loud in your video.
