If this idea will hold a 28-pound rock, it will hold all kinds of other things that you may want to mount on top of a T-post. Mail Boxes. Bird Feeders. Use your imagination. 👍
I'm wondering if you may be related to David Proulx, my Jr. High biology teacher in Baldwinsville? It would have been early 1970s. I was in the stamp collecting club back then and that was his thing. A very memorable teacher.
That's a cool idea! I could see using 4 or 5 of those metal caps and short t-posts with a really long flat rock to make a bench. You have some very nice rocks for landscaping. Looks almost like slate, but is probably highly foliated schist. Have you ever tried panning for gold there? Be careful not to breathe that dust while you're drilling. You do not want to get silicosis. One thing that would keep down dust and also make your bit last longer would be to run your hose on the spot you're drilling. Most drills and other cutting machines for lapidary use water as a lubricant, sometimes mineral oil.
I’m not sure why one would want a rock on a pole and would love to learn what it is if there is a purpose. I could be wrong about this, but I think the point is actually to demonstrate that the t-post topper piece will support whatever object one would like to mount on a pole, up to a large 28 pound rock, lol.
Whoa, did you pronounce "creek" as "crick" in "my crick" and "lots of rocks in this crick" ? I never expected to hear that from the New York side of the country. Is it common there? What are you going to rest on your T-post rock topper?
They make sprinklers for tee posts using the same attachment method as your metal model. Capped tube and a set screw. Still prefer the hard to find hat channel posts with actual hooks to hang the fencing.
