How To Make ACCURATE Designs, Vectric Design Tutorial, Vcarve, Cut2D, Aspire - CNC Router Projects

This videos tutorial teaches you how to create accurate designs for your CNC router projects using the Vectric design software (Vcarve, Aspire, Cut2D) construction line tool. This is good for all versions of Vectric, desktop, and pro.
The construction line tool uses specifically placed lines to use as reference lines to use as vector intersection points. Construction lines are not vectors that will be used in the tool path area. In other words, you cannot use the reference lines to have a tool path follow.
Vectric is not an engineering type design software. However, it does have some engineering functions in it, including construction lines, tangents, and other features.
If you chose Vectric, please use one of the links below. Thank you

You actually can enter numbers with your keyboard to position the guide lines. If you right click on the guide lines, you can position the line to a specific measurement either "absolute" or "relative" to the position your at. Once you have the first guide line, you can create the next line from that line or just create a new line and enter the measurement you want to move it to. You can also orient the guide lines to a specific angle and also lock the guide lines in place to prevent accidentally dragging it after you have paced it.

Thank you, Garrett, great video with useful design tips. If I may add, you can position a grid line (construction line in your terminology) to an exact position by creating the line and right clicking to get the dialogue box. There you can set in the desired exact "absolute" ("relative", if desired) position. Not as efficient as typing in the number in the Create Line / Polyline feature as you demonstrated, but a simple right mouse click away.

Garret, great videos. My one suggestion would be that given that there are some elements of this particular video that are no necessarily accurate, (such as, this software does allow for entering in the precise coordinates of the guidelines as well as entering them in without having to drag each one individually simply by right clicking and using offsets) I would recomend either editing in the corrections to the video or removing the video entirely as even though the techniques you show do work, there are much easier ways to do them and it can be confusing to newbies. Just my thoughts. Thanks Garrett for all the great videos.

You made a very simple process very difficult and cumbersome. Just pull out the line and right click and put in the correct number. To get a new line right click on the line and create a new line parallel to the first and type in the number. Do this vertical and horizontal and your done.

kwikcarl1, Yes, you can definitely move the entire drawing as a group even after it's finished. The X=0 Y=0 starting point is just a reference point and doesn't lock the design in place. Feel free to move and adjust your design as needed!

Hi Garrett, a while ago you had the video explaining the freehand drawing of the Barn, I did that and came up with all open vector errors. I had to break the crossover line to space them away from the crossover. Can you do a follow up with that file to the point of carving it out, thanks in advance.

can i ask regarding your tool bit library would that be a good starting point for normal end bits that are not your brand

Dafyddgould, that is a tough one brother. All bit companies are different, your best bet is to reach out to them for specific tool databases.

Yes, no difference between TIF and TIFF. The shorter version was used by MS-DOS because it can only use three letters in its extensions. The same goes for JPG vs. JPEG.

Thanks for clarifying that for me
@PaulMcBreen

Actually there is a difference, (well sometimes) A Tiff is a geo-referenced image, used in engineering so it can be placed in the correct place in a map, like a drone survey copied into Google earth

Hi Garrett , just tried to download the tool database for vectric aspire , and because I’m on version 9.5 it will not load into the database , can you advise on how to get around this if possible, Tia Dave
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft 3 месяца назад
Dave, my apologies brother but the database won't work with the 9.5 version of Vectric. You will have the add the bits in manually in this case. Here's a video where I walk you through the process: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-670Xzgf0LiA.htmlsi=gd2DNqJkFymT7tif

One thing you can add is click on View, there are items on the guide lines as well as right clicking you can add hor. and vert guide lines, angle the guide lines and also point to point ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SHDykaz670s.html
