How To Install A CNC Router Bit Database Into Vectric Vcarve & Aspire, Download Instruction

This video tutorial shows you how to enter your CNC router bits database into the Vectric design software, regardless of which Vectric design level you have (Cut2D Desktop or Pro, Vcarve Desktop or Pro, or Aspire).
NOTE: When a bit is greyed out, even though you know it had data, it is because the 'material' field was changed from hardwood to another material. Change the materials field back to hardwood to display the tool settings.

Thank you so much Garrett for this tool database, this truly is awesome! As we all can see you have gone above and beyond for your customer and CNC'ers alike, and a huge shout out to Bill and Roger for their generosity of their time. Just going to load it all in and will follow up. Tank you again. and by the way the quality of the bits you supply I have found to be of super quality and pricing is also great. Andrew

At LAST! You just increased your bits sales for sure. I was just now shopping for bits as a kit that had a database. I have most all of the bits that you sell and still have not got all the settings set up correctly for each of them. I had my finger on an order from somewhere else ONLY because they had a database that I could import into VCarve. YEY!

Very nice I’ve already purchased your basic bits and installed those manually but I currently have a couple new bits from you in the mail so I’ll use this approach. I think your customer-centric approach is great and in my experience if you make it easy for your customers to buy and use your products then they will it’s good for your business. Mahalo

Thanks to Bill for work entering and to you for customizing database. My purchaser told me she ordered my IDC bit set yesterday. Downloaded Vetric Desktop trial and loaded database iaw your video. Relearning and deciding on projects. Once reaquainted with process I will purchase Vectric software, likely Desktop due to cost and size if my machine being a good match. Again Thanks for good video and work. Ms. KaDee

It seems my proposed commitment to Vcarve Desktop was premature. I started a project late last night only to discover almost immediately that the spiral I needed to create is not included in Vcarve shapes and only Vcarve Pro will allow me to load something called a "Gadget" necessary to create a spiral on a flat board using a simple vbit. So I must wait to design my rotating spiral quasar for my box top project till I have the bucks for the Pro version or try and do it using some weird combo method of design software. While I could do it in a few minutes manually with a router and string the point was to design the whole box top and cut it out of walnut after I engrave my design using the cnc. Just my luck, like the first assembly language program I wrote years ago had to be real time and count clock cycles for a PDP11. Oh well. I still appreciate the bits and ill try to find a way to cut a spiral using vcarve desktop I downloaded by doing arc line segments or something. Ms. KaDee

Thank you, Garrett, Bill and Roger. This is really great. I can see that the development of this database took a lot of time and work. I am finally going to do my first carve on my Onefinity that I purchased about 10 months ago later today. I can see that I will be purchasing additional bits as I move forward. Quick question, when you add more bits to the list how will we add them to our Vetric software? Will send out a new file and we will download everything again. I really appreciate everything that you do to help us. The RU-vid training videos have been great!

I am a vector guy like you and all your helps are great. Now, when you get the bits, you do not have, will you have a video explaining how to update the tool database? Garrett, thanks for the database. I am about to order a couple of bits and I have a question . How do the speeds feed rates of the tools change when working with a soft wood like pine? I there a rule of thumb that I can apply to modify the hardwood data? Or better yet, is there a separate database that I can download? Living here in the western U.S., hardwood is hard to find and expensive so I do most of my work with pine. A second question; in watching several other of your videos, I notice that you have a white backgound in your Gsender software. I like it much more than the black that I have. Is there an easy way to change to white? Again, thanks for all you are doing. I bought my Longmill and Vetric software based on your recommendations, and I am really happy with them both. You are perhaps doing such a good job with your videos that I have not had to go one-on-one with you. Thanks again Dick Garrett
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
James, the feeds and speeds I provided you works well in both soft woods and hard woods. You will need to practice getting familiar on your machine but typically with soft woods you can increase the feeds and speeds 10-15% if you want your machine to run faster. As for Gsender, I might be using an older version of their software. Take a look at their documentation and play around with the settings. There might be a setting in there that will help you. resources.sienci.com/view/gs-additional-features/ As for all the videos, you are so welcome my friend. Glad I can help.

I have a NextWave HD510 with a water cooled spindle and need to know if I need to be concerned with the tool numbers. Should I just leave them as is or do I need to change them? @IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft 2 года назад
Jeremy, Cant help you much with Freud bits, although they do sell a nice set of router bits. The feeds and speeds that I include in this tool database will work for their bits too. All you need to do is make sure that the dimensions of the bits you have are the same. Don't want to use the feeds and speeds for a 1/4" end mill when you are using a 3/16" right! Haha

Hi Garrett. Easy to follow as usual. If a project is designed in metric, but the selected tool is imperial, does vectric automatically compensate ? E.g. a hole 8mm in size to be drilled 1/4in end mill on spiral setting? Will one land up with an 8mm hole? Thanks
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft Год назад
That's a good question. The software knows what the bit is, and the size of it. So it will still carve accordingly. You'll be fine

I like it!! Really nice not to have to enter every new bit, just buy and it’s already there. I thought of one question. If you change the speed and feed on a bit for a particular job, then the next time you pull up that bit, will it be the original settings or what it was set at for the previous job?

I understand that feeds and speeds, etc. are based on hardwood and trim router. If I have a more powerful spindle, can those be adjusted / increased? Also, what about when using different materials? For example, if I am using the 1.5" surfacing bit to flatten my MDF spoil board...?
@IDCWoodcraft
@IDCWoodcraft 2 месяца назад
michaelbeckwith977, Yes, with a more powerful spindle, you can typically increase your feeds and speeds for better efficiency. When using different materials like MDF, you may need to adjust your settings to prevent burning or chipping. Start with conservative settings and gradually increase the speed and feed rate as needed, paying attention to the quality of the cut!

Garrett I have a shapeoko xx/cnc that runs a trim router.. and you can create a file in Vectric pro that uses different bits nd save it to 1 file . Because there is a post processor that is set up to do tool changes. So for to work right the tools have to have a number for the different bits. If you don't have your bits numbered then you will not be able to save the G code to 1file. So It is good that the numbering is . what happens to the numbering when you have selected all the end mils and go to the v bits . Does the numbering continue or or does it start over ( end mils end with number 6 and now you are in v bits is the first v bit 7 or 1 If not it would be nice if it could. Jeff peters

Thank you for being thoughtful of others, by putting the tool database on your site for people like me.

Michael, this is a great question brother. There is likely a way that you can convert the data into mm but I have never done it myself! When I try it on my end, the settings don't switch over automatically so it may require a couple hoops to jump through to get it to work!

@@IDCWoodcraft Hi Garrett, Thank you for your reply, it's much appreciated. here's a question about a different subject. When I do a Vcare for example, Why is it that some of the lines only get a very faint carve line and not the same as the rest? How can I get a carve where all lines of the subject are say 2.4 mm deep? Do I use " Flat depth or do I leave it unchecked to get a certain depth of cut? I understand the material could be uneven, so I will do a quick surface, Do you think then, the carve depth will be the same? What determines the required depth of cut for any given project? Thank you, Garrett.
