Right there with ya. More boarding..and def. FPV (just need some better weather). Snowboard 🏂 footage is looking great on 360 camera. I’ve still been using GoPro 10 for boarding but 360’s looking fun! 👍👍
Would love to see a tutorial on your color correction process with GoPro/how you make it match your mirror less footage. I think that would be very helpful!
@@mattih Dude when you rode that hovercraft over water, you killed it..." edit ELECTRIC SURFBOARD" You are the first person I've seen on a OneWheel and you killed it. Now you're surfing over ice and that looks so fun. I realize you're incredible at editing but I certainly get the impression that you're a natural outdoor athletic type guy. I'm really motivated by you guys. I purchased the GT just because you guys made that look so dang fun. Thanks for the premium content and education.
Thanks bro. Just picked up my first ever GoPro (the Hero 10 Black) and have been testing it out. My favorite settings are as follows: 5.3K 24fps, Bit Rate High, Sharpness Medium, Color Flat, White Balance Auto, Lens Linear, EV -0.5, ISO 100/400 and HyperSmooth High. I've found, with good light (golden hour type), those settings give excellent results straight out of camera. But, due to the flat color profile there is plenty of color adjustment left if needed. The 'natural' and 'vibrant', in my opinion so far, look bad and remove all form of dynamic range. ✌️
Your original GoPro video was what brought me to your channel and it seems crazy that I've already been watching your videos since 2018! Keep it up, I love what you're doing with your channel and clothing lines!!
360 is the best 💪 for removing distortion, sometimes i like to use the Linear mode built-in right into the gopro. it's not as super wide, but still pretty wide
Love the video, Matti! Now that we have some log shooting options in both GoPros and DJI action cams, do you recommend using those? They also seem to only map to Rec709… would love to see a tutorial from you on working with action cams in HDR (Rec2020/2100) projects!
nice one. I'm using my gopro strapped to the cliff all the time for rock climbing. works a charm. thinking of upgrading from the 8 to the 10. or maybe getting the zv1. also love how robust the gopros are. mine have taken some HEAVY falls and still keep on truckin!
Although I totally see the advantages of the Insta360, I don't know why but I am more attracted to the GoPro, its quality is spectacular for an action camera. Love U Matti!
will be using my GoPro 8 a lot in March, hope I manage to get it producing quality content 🤣 recording 4K and then downsampling to 1080p to hide minor flaws and make for an easier to edit+post workflow for youtube 👌
As a skier I’m very torn behind using action cameras, the utility is great don’t get me wrong and they definitely come in handy in the right application but I find the POV/360 cam videos to be boring unless there’s an element of story involved if it’s purely action cam. Don’t get me wrong I’ve seen some amazing videos shot with just action cams but I feel there’s just to many people using the GoPro app to over-saturate this genre imo. These tips definitely help make these cameras still viable options in helping them stand out and increasing quality.
Thanks for the video matti!! I was hoping that I’d use my insta 360 for my vlogs, And so far am happy with the results. Will definitely try the defishing thing and make the videos better. 🙂
Great advice sir! I'm using an Action 2, and even tho the new cam makes the scenes more cinematic, a good positioning and a few neat tricks can greatly improve the shots by a hundred!
Amazing views! Love all the tips and tricks! I was looking into getting a 360 camera soon, was hoping GoPro would come out with the MAX 2........Haven't seen any news on this though🙃
Please, please do a video showing your Insta360 editing workflow. Currently I'm using the GoPro Reframe plugin inside of Premiere, but what does that workflow look like for you inside of FinalCut? I'd love to switch and this is something I haven't figured out.
any tips on matching a gopro with iphone footage? i shoot flat on the gopro, but the iphone footage has a pretty identifiable color profile. i've read mixed reviews about filmic pro for shooting flat on an iphone... would that help combine the two?
Action cams aren't so bad. I shot 50/60 videos on my channel using my Insta360 One R. Even the onboard audio was okay for run and gun vlogging. Just my opinion 🙂 Thanks for the video Matti
The 360 is cool but the only problem is the wonky fisheye on most of the shots.. is there a camera that shoots linear kind of 360 video? Thank you for the awesome video though..
Downsides to 360 are more storage needed and takes extra time going through footage to get the views you want. At least the insta360 studio has improved. Let’s go heli boarding across BC.
Comparing your $6,000 camera setup and the GoPro9 is not very fair. Considering the price of $450 GoPro9 has cool quality and stabilization is very close to the $6,000 setup, which is not affordable for beginner bloggers. I think the GoPro9 is optimal in quality and price, with proper editing and color correction.
I love these types of videos, but I really felt like this one fell into more of the "not really about traditional action cameras" and really felt like you were telling us you can't make action cameras cinematic unless you're using a 360 camera or an FPV drone. Was really hoping for more tips on traditional action camera usage.
