Yeah, once they are nicked it is sadly time to reinvest. Of course that only happens in the middle of the night when the stores are closed. I was really surprised how well it cured minor damage though. I did not expect it to work.

That sounds like a cool project - the fish one. I didn't have much luck using Sharpies on foil, but maybe I should give it another go. Thanks for sharing your experiences here, I really love hearing about other people's crafts. Have a good day.

That’s a good idea - some of those candy wrapper foils are really pretty and seem a shame to throw away. It will be a question of experimentation though because the finish on candy wrappers may be different to ordinary aluminium foil. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. Or the sound of cutting the aluminum foil. I seriously turned the sound off. It hurt my ears. Also, I happen to know what a Sizzix BigKick is, but my thinking is most people don't unless they're into scrapbooking. Showing that step was pretty darn important. Otherwise, it's an interesting project and I appreciate the video.

I can barely hear her either and my speakers are all the way up. And when doing the foil, forget hearing her at all. 😔

This is a pretty cool project. However, it is quite difficult to hear your words clearly in the beginning--especially over the crumpling of the aluminum foil. I agree the music (when played) is too loud. A tutorial &/or more detailed instructions for the bottle cap preparation would be nice. Having a sequence that lists/describes all the items needed would also be helpful.

Thank you for your question - yes - I also use Anita's 3D Clear Gloss on a lot of my projects. I have made lots of these pendants using that instead of Diamond Glaze. It just depends which one I can get hold of the easiest when I run out.

No, you dont flatten the bottle cap completely, you just need to tap all around the fluted edge to turn it down (as if you are folding the edge over away from the front). And no, I don't have a video for that other bracelet just yet. I have had the request from someone else too and it is on my schedule of videos to make - it will be coming up in the next 3 weeks.

Hi Maris - sorry, I am not familiar with the Cuttle Bug. If you mean you are trying to flatten bottle caps - it sounds like too much pressure maybe.

Sorry to hear that Tiffany, you need to make sure your inks are completely dry before you stick the glass overlays on. Also use good quality alcohol inks. It may also depend on the climate wherever you live as to how well and how quickly the inks dry. I’ve never had this issue so I’m not sure why yours have done this. I do know that some colors take longer to dry than others so maybe try a test piece of foil with different colors and leave them to dry for much longer than before. Let me know how you get on.

Could be any one of a number of things. Without having been there while you did it, it's hard to say but could be the alcohol inks, could be that the inks weren't totally dry (some take longer than others)before you put the glue and the glass domes on. It's very unusual for good name brand alcohol inks to fade. I still have necklaces that I did several years ago and they are still bright as ever. Once the inks are totally dry on the foil, it would be hard for them to fade - where would the color pigment go? So my guess is the inks weren't totally dry and they have been diluted somehow by the glue. Did you by any chance use any yellow alcohol ink in your project?That's the only color I have ever had any issues with.

@@RainbowLane thanks for the reply. I can't remember how long I left the inks for but it was probably at least next day. No yellow used. At least if yours haven't faded that gives me hope!

So sorry Caroline - I hadn't realised I didn't respond to your question. I fixed the rings to the bottle caps myself - we used to be able to get them already fixed but I'm not sure if anyone still supplies them. Unfortunately I don't know about getting them in the US.

Hello Libby - I just posted a video yesterday to show how I do it with the Big Shot machine. Do you have one of those or do you need to see how to do it with a hammer? i havent got the big shot machine, and i have just seen the price of them so it would have to be a hammer...armed and dangerous....thank you for posting the link by the way. I have found another link for flattening with a hammer, and give it a go.

Yes I know - they are a shocking price! Thankfully I have had mine for quite a while and it wasn't as much when I got it. Hope the hammer flattening goes ok - just watch your fingers! I have bashed mine so many times because I often use a hammer if I am too lazy to get the Big Shot out. Would love to see your finished pieces.

im just a beginner but as soon as i turn something out i will let you know and send you a link......i will keep an eye out on ebay i might find one quite cheap or perhaps will be lucky enough to find one in a charity shop or carboot, fingers crossed. Im hoping that if i can master what you are doing it might be an ideal hobby for my daughter who has special needs. Its just a case of finding something she would be interested in doing. and you never know she might just be awesome at doing it lol

There isn't any paint used - just alcohol inks with glass over the top.

Well Once you adhere the foil to the glass it is sealed under the glass so nothing can chip it.

+Jennie Spooner Not sure where you live but in the U.K., tin foil and aluminium foil is the same thing. It's the stuff you buy in the supermarket to use in baking.

+Jennie Spooner The bottle caps are almost identical to the ones we can buy in place like The Range for bottling home brewed beer. The only difference with the ones I have used here is that they don't have the plastic liner inside that is required for food use. I sometimes do use the beer bottling caps with the liner in but I prefer unlined ones. You can melt the liner out if you only have beer bottle caps but it's a bit time consuming. The unlined ones for craft use are available on line and don't cost that much.

No, I wasn’t sad when I made that video, just nervous and not very comfortable talking and I guess that came across - a few people have been very critical! Rainbow Lane Awww great! am so happy to hear that, you are very sweet. I do have a question though I am having trouble with these and I wondered if you could help. So I didn’t use diamond glaze to fuse the foil to the glass I used a mod podge instead because that is what I had, however I noticed the mod podge made my alcohol inks kind of bleed around and into each other more... even after it was dried and set. Do you know why that may have done that? Should I not use the mod podge and should I get the stuff or something similar instead? Some advice on how to troubleshoot that would be absolutely amazing thank you so much!!!

Oh no! That's not the result you wanted I'm sure. Don't know which Mod Podge you used but I would stay away from anything that has a high proportion of water in it. To fuse the glass dome to the foil, you really do need something that is made to dry crystal clear. Diamond glaze is good and although I have never used it on these pendants, Mod Podge Dimensional Magic would probably work well - you would have to experiment. Anita's Clear Gloss is one I have used with success as well. I hope you have some success with your next try - don't give up! Might be a good idea to keep some of your inked foil just to experiment with before you try and stick any domes on - maybe just paint some of your chosen glaze product onto the foil and see what happens.
