Dear Sewing Friends, in this video tutorial we will be making a super breezy blouse that is light as a feather! It has a beautiful gathered shoulder detail with ties - which is fun, because you can wear it in so many different ways! You only need 1 yd of fabric, an about 1 hour of your time (maybe a bit more the first time) - but it really comes together very quickly! The best thing is that this blouse is REALLY easy to make, simple drafting, perfect for spring/summer and you can even make it into a dress. Grab some beautiful fabric and let's get started!

Dear Sewing Friends, to make this top into a dress, just extend the length of the top and insert another casing for the ties around your waist, or use a belt, or use an elastic instead of the ties. I think it will be SUPER cute as a dress!

Yep, I worked at the Mayfield pub at the main train station, went to the local tea shop "50 shades of Earl grey (um, yes)" and went fabric shopping at the local Abakhan! Small world! :) Leeds is fun too!

Girl, you have no bulk :) But yes, the width of this blouse is perfect for a drapey top that does not stick to the body. And... I just experiment, see what works, develop my own conclusions, techniques.... that's all :)

So I made this top! For others make sure only use the loose fabric ! I’ve used the cotton and it looks a little puffy! I don’t mind cause whtever I make myself it looks good 😌😍/ thank you for the great trial🥰😍

I am very new to sewing! Like about. A month or so! I made this top tonight! It actually fits me!! First thing I’ve made that I could wear( I won’t as I didn’t do great on the necklines etc so lots of practice needed there! But I will defo make it again! Your tutorials are fab and drafting the pattern was so easy too! I’ve tried a few different ways to draft a pattern and this was by far the simplest and it worked! I will defo be using your videos again!

Eileen, hello there! Great question, thank you! Absolutely, we will be moving towards drafting easy pattern blocks here in a week or so and will dive into it a bit, for loose fitting garment like this - you just have to make sure you get enough of shoulder width to create the gathers and that the final width of the pattern can accommodate you bust/waist and hips.

I use both, and prefer metric system, since it is easier to work with, but since I live in the US - inches it is.

Did you use the bust measurement because is the biggest one of the three (bust waist and hips)? If I choose the largest part it will be ok?

@@eunicebugaian1397 no worries, we are working with the bust measurement because that's the measurement that you need to build the armholes. And since we are adding a lot of extra width (in my case 4") it should be plenty to accommodate the hips and waist. If the hips and waist are still bigger, you can juts flare out the top towards the bottom. Hope this helps, Eunice! :)
