Wonderful ginger bread you had there. Just input, don't whip butter for more than 20-30 sec as the cookies will be puffed up and eventually the house design is gonna be ruined
Lovely! I noticed that on of the edges of the dough had lifted on one of the bigger pieces. A tip to prevent this is to put another baking sheet on top of the dough after you take it out of the oven, the weight will keep it flat :)
Congratulations. What a beautiful little house. Your artistry is inspiring - all the filigree and fine detail. Your narration is also engaging - calm, patient, and encouraging. This felt like the creation of a little fairy tale world.
Wow this is incredibly incredible, I want to make a gingerbread house with my 10-year-old daughter. I have a bad feeling we may be starting too late if it's to take to her gingerbread celebration on Friday afternoon, ugh.
Thank you so much!! You know, if you prepped and baked the pieces for her during the day or evening previous, she could probably have time to put it together and decorate :) or, you can always just roll out the dough, cut out gingerbread men or other shapes and decorate those! That’s a lot quicker and still very cute :)
What a wonderful teaching video. You are an excellent teacher and you give so many great tips and suggestions along the way. I’m so glad that I found this video on YTube, because the only previous experience I have had with making and decorating a gingerbread house was with a cheap kit that I found at my local drugstore. I purchased one of these premade kits at the last minute as a fun project to do with one of my clients. I am a caregiver for older seniors and I am constantly looking for fun projects for us to do together. This is not only fun, but it also keeps their minds stimulated and gives them something fulfilling to accomplish. Anyway, this premade kit was I thought a good idea, but it turned out frustratingly difficult because it kept falling apart due to the icing that came with the kit being too thin to hold everything together! And I realized too late that we should have decorated each section separately, let them dry/harden first, and then put them together using a better quality icing. Oh well, you live and you learn! Thanks again for the very enjoyable video. I will have to definitely attempt this again, but from scratch and not a cheap kit! Merry Christmas to you and your family from a new subscriber!😄🎄🎁🎅🕊️🎄
Thank you for creating this beautiful gingerbread house and sharing it with us. I don't think I'll get the chance to make one this year but I'll definitely make time for it next year. Merry Christmas! 🎄☃️
Such a pretty house and so worth the minimal expense to get the pdf. Thank you! I did find the dough REALLY stuck to the parchment, but when I rolled it out on a silpat, It didn't stick at all. Can't wait to decorate.
I like your decorating style. Too much icing covers up the gingerbread. If that's the case, why not use cardboard. Anyway, I like being able to see the gingerbread.
Что может быть лучше дома, который ты можешь съесть? Только дом, в котором ты будешь жить! Ну а это - просто шедевр! Many thanks to the author! You have proved to me that a masterpiece can be created from anything, the main thing is to know how 💖
What an absolutely adorable, cozy little house! Love love love! I am definitely going to make this and can not wait. Love the window idea! Thank you for sharing! Would love more videos like this...
Hi! I will soon be making a gingerbread house according to your recipe, but I don't know exactly how much butter to add. Could you tell me how many grams of butter there are? One more thing, can you replace the molasses with maple syrup? This ingredient simply isn't available in my country ;(
Not likely, molasses is very thick and viscous with a unique flavour. Maple syrup, although delicious is far too runny to be used as a substitution. Try googling a substitution for molasses, you may get lucky 😊
Do you have the Gingerbread house templates ? I'm planning to make a similar Gingerbread House this Christmas 💯. What a coincidence, I'm half Pakistani too... 😅
I love the idea of using gelatin sheets for the windows. What a genius idea! I've seen so many people struggle with isomalt and other baking things to try to make windows. I think they look amazing and save you from so much hassle. Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas! ❤
This video is absolute perfection. Everything is presented in such a great way. The music is right, the cooking process is simple and clear with great advice. The tempo is great (I never get bored in fact I had to pause the video to leave this comment). Lastly, your eye for detail and perfectionism really show through + you have great style. Amazing!
The templates which you mentioned in the discription box. It's telling to pay some money in dollars to view them. I don't think people will buy your templates if it's not free
Hi! You should have received an email with the PDF and download link :) We were having a bit of a website glitch this morning, but we've updated it! Please let me know if you still haven't received it.
I'm sorry that is the only payment platform I have right now, although I still have the PDF up on Gumroad as well, they may accept more methods. thewonderingmind.gumroad.com/l/ehdlqq?layout=profile
Won't baking soda or powder make the dough rise and cause pieces to become misshaped? Whenever I add baking powder it destroys my creations. So I'm just scared that's what happens if I use this recipe.
I’ve seen that some people leave it out-I chose not to, and my pieces didn’t get misshaped because I rolled them very thin (1/8”) but it’s worth experimenting! There are soooo many variations of recipes for how to make a gingerbread house!
in my country it's customary to "deck the halls" on Dec. 6th (and i gather you guys do it even earlier, late November) don't the royal icing's eggs get rancid in the meantime, is it advised not to eat the house or do you do it after the rest of the decoration or maybe even take eggs as fresh as possible? (after all we keep them outside of the fridge and the shell tends to be enough to keep them edible for a fair bit, at least before the expiration date) Molasse is not really readily availible over here anymore so i'm considering making a hybrid with a culturally more significant (for me) speculoos recipe and maybe after i get the han of it experiment with other types of biscuits to play with different colours (in a tudor meets alsacian townhouse, or represent the traditional varigated brick houses of my region) are any solid biscuit interchangeable in this instance or is gingerbread the most practical support (speculoos would be a bit more buttery and somehow softer same with shortbreads) does the molasse help with the integrity of the piece or is it "just" tradition and flavour edit :aaaand you answered my first question already, lol now eggs smells bad when oing off and i eat raw eggs every once in awhile (to be done at your own risk, fear of salmonella in eggs is not part of our common consiousness here, we tend to eat it in our german chocolate u.u)
Don’t recommend using a recipe for a cookie that’s soft & buttery since it won’t be able to support much weight, honestly if you don’t plan on eating it use a recipe that makes a hard dense cookie, Some people use different gingerbread recipes for houses ( so it doesn’t fall apart) and for eating so maybe try a harder cookie. Use pasteurised eggs or meringue powder instead, maybe you could heat it over a water bath which makes the royal icing creamier
Hi there! I would not recommend eating this, especially if you are leaving it out for a long time. If you don't want to use raw eggs, you can use meringue powder!
Thank you so much for posting this!!! I'm entering a gingerbread house contest, and this was really helpful! I was wondering, did you use all the gingerbread for the house, or was there some left over?
@@thewonderingmind Thank you sooo much!!! I really enjoyed making my house and following your tutorial! It did get difficult, but I'm glad God gave me the ability to press through!
This is gorgeous, and inspirational and so clearly described. I do wonder how you got the top royal icing to stand up thought. Thanks for a job well done.
@@jaanal2644 I don't doubt its edibility, I'm just concerned about what it must be like chewing on a pure sheet of gelatin. Those candies don't get their flavour from the gelatin y'know.
HELP… I need help retrieving the download, will I get an email with the link? , I was using my IPad and got busy, when I came back the screen with the download option wasn’t there anymore 😢
You should get an email with the link as well :) Check your spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox! You can send me an email too if there are any problems with receiving the PDF and I will make sure you get a copy.
You know, I’ve never tried anything besides cream of tartar. There may be other options for royal icing out there in the internet that use other ingredients!!!
