I just made a similar one myself. I chose to use a micro pulley to tend a Michoacán hitch instead, and also added a regular 3 wrap prussic with a rappel ring to use in a girth hitch configuration when needed. Good video per usual 👍 👍

i really like the buntline over the double fishermans for lanyards and my terminal knot. it is more streamline, uses less cordage, and is easier to untie

I’ve been working dialing in an new pruisik set up. I’ve used the positioned 2 for about 3 years. It’s fast and quickly adjustable. Now I climb slower and there’s no need for that added stress of potentially sliding back by accidentally knocking the sliding bar. Thank you sir

Hey thanks for the video super simple yet safe. Ive been doing tree work for 7 months now and alot of times I feel like I'm being very unsafe using a single flip line and spurs. When I reposition myself going over limbs I have nothing but my arm over a limb to reposition. The 2 in 1 system is going to change my climbing. Thank you so much for the simple video! Stay safe up there

Hey Bino. I just received the rope and the snap hooks. Same rope as you spoke of. I ran a 15' line. I never used a double before. I had fun standing on the ground just playing with a couple small trees just thinking of all methods I could use them. They are dammed sweet. I really enjoyed being able to convert it into a short climbing line. Thank you, my friend.

@@BinoH By the way using a micro pully really is a game-changer. Prussic and rope nothing fancy is what I have always used. I remember when I was a kid 16 or 17 years old using pole cleats and pole harness and no rated snap hook. Releasing my lanyard holding on with hand and arm and working the lanyard up the tree. I think I am lucky to be alive. My badass saw "LOL" back then was a skill 14" I bought used. No safeties on that little saw. But that saw made me a boatload of money. Friends of the family had a flatbed trailer they gave to me and I built 2x4 walls and away I went. Now I could haul it away as well. 45 years later still playing in trees. I think I have monkey blood.

I like the working end to be tight on the krab, that way when you pass it around the stem from hand to hand its right where you expect not flopping about. I've used double fisherman's knots before but at the moment my new favourite cheap fix is old inner tube as retention rubbers. But I currently only climb on a single lanyard so Im going have to try this out...Nice video Bino, thanks.

I whipped my rigging lines & did this method on them with a heavy duty thimble. My rigging lines r different lengths depending on the situation. They r nice when it comes to attaching to my Maasdam rope puller. I attached a loop on the end of my Maasdam rope using the 3 strand splice with a heavy duty thimble to attach to a carabiner. Then I attach the carabiner to attach to the rigging eyes. Primarily on spars so I can control the felling direction. I plan on doing a 3 strand splice on both ends of a long Promaster 1/2" rigging line that I have left after setting up my Maasdam the way I like it.

That is really well done. Very clear. I appreciated it. I may be wrong, but I think that your "double fisherman's knots" are "fisherman's knots." I think that a "double fisherman" knot is used to join two ropes (or two ends of one rope)...two of them are placed back-to-back. Your termination knots are (to me) not "double." Anyway...very good job.
@BinoH
@BinoH 3 года назад
Thank you, I way I learned it is that the knot that connects to your carabiner is called a Double Fisherman's Knot also known as a Scaffold Knot. The Double Fisherman's Bend also known as a Grapevine Knot is the one that connects two ropes together. They are both a variation of the same knot. Take care!

Are you sure that hitch cord is 10mm? I've only seen 10mm Ocean in red, and 8mm in green. The reason I ask is that I threw together a 2 in 1 with stuff I already had (after watching your video) using 11mm Yale Bandit and 8mm Ocean cord, but it bound up really tight a few times. Too tight to move without manually loosening the prusik...I'm going to try 10mm hitch cord next (as soon as I can get my hands on some) and see if that helps. Awesome video, as always. Is there a different between a lanyard vs climbing rope, others then sizing?
@BinoH
@BinoH 3 года назад
The ropes used have to be rated for climbing. There are different ropes used for lanyards such as Three strand, wire core and different diameters of climbing lines.
@chaseaspen8904
@chaseaspen8904 3 года назад
Not really, You can use normal climbing rope to make a lanyard however its a good idea to climb with a wire core lanyard instead of normal climbing rope. If you're using saws while climbing you have more peace of mind with that metal core. The only problem with wire core is that i dont think you can make a 2 in 1 out of it due to the stiffness and the prusik not sliding well on it. I could be mistaken on that im sure Bino H could clear that up. As for the diameter/sizing, it doesn't really matter it's more a preference as long as the rope is rated for climbing you're good to go.
