Darcy…I removed the berries, put them individually in blender and chopped…cam out puréed but it’s fine. I used my frosting knife and spread the berries like I was frosting a cake and with a skewer I picked out the blueberries that didn’t mush up and ate them…LOL! Their dehydrating as I comment. That frosting knife was a game changer for me as the spatula wasn’t working for me. Once their all dried, I’ll grind up and have my powders. Thank you Darcy!!

You definitely don't need a premium dehydrator! Just be on the lookout for one with more than 400Watts if you can, and a temperature control.
@Imokanurnot
@Imokanurnot 2 года назад
Thanks for even more good advice! I found one at 600 watts, with both digital temp control and a timer. I figure this should be plenty good enough to get started with. My amazing hubs bought me a she shed for our anniversary that, while it's not huge, has a full kitchen in it. All we lack right now is getting the water hooked up, & I can get it cleaned, then up and running. I have so many amazing project ideas, and you've given me many more (I'm so excited). I sure appreciate you're sharing your knowledge and experience with us!

@@Imokanurnot It is interesting reading your response. I live in the tropics. I grew up knowing that my grandmother sold dried coconut for a living. There was a very large shed in the backyard. The shed had a retractable roof. Manually operated. You had to close the roof if it looked like rain was coming. So I also learned to look to the sky and sense when it’s about to rain. Amazing. The more things change the more they remain the same. Enjoy your fruit and veggies drying project.

Blueberries, when froze, water expands outward so freezing then dehydrating should make it much easier. I love Spinach and Kale, that’s something I haven’t started yet. How do you do yours ….. ?
@AuntNutmeg
@AuntNutmeg 2 месяца назад
I'm thinking that perhaps a tiny bit of cornstarch or arrowroot powder added to the dried berries in the blender would help it not clump up (due to sugars). It's the same thing that's added to sugar when powdering it!
@ralsharp6013
@ralsharp6013 2 месяца назад
@esemmanuel6603 Thank you for the dehydrating hint, and I'm sorry I haven't seen your comment until now.. I hope you had some luck with your spinach and kale.. If you notice the plant leaves getting nibbled on, flipped the leaves over and look for little caterpillars, get rid of any you find.. The top leaves are the best for drying. I either use a dehydrator or I place them in the car to dry in a sunny position. Open up a box, place leaves on top. Crack your windows open an inch or 2, to let the condensation out👣🗝💦🌱

@AuntNutmeg
@AuntNutmeg 2 месяца назад
@@ralsharp6013 I hope it works for you! The ratio for powdered sugar is 1 Tablespoon of arrowroot powder or corn starch per cup of sugar. I'm thinking a bit less might work with fruit since it's not pure sugar. Good luck experimenting!

Amazing. Thanks for making this. I absolutely love it and never thought of making powders. I have 5 blueberry bushes netted giving me TONS of fresh blueberries. I also have 2 plum trees, wild raspberries. "Really wild'' haha. I have a 5 in 1 apple tree. 5 different apples from a dwarf tree. It's amazing. Can't wait for summer & so I can try this. Also, getting a peach & nectarine tree.

I love that tool! I've only done blueberries once and vowed to never do them again! This changes my mind!
