Oh a side note: if you add time stamps to a video description, RU-vid will add chapters to the video timebar (although you need one starting at 0:00 or else it won’t work)
DUDE I WATCHED THIS AND AFTER MONTHS OF WISHING I COULD MAKE AN ANIMATIC BUT FEELING LIKE I COULDNT I WAS JUST MAGICALLY EMBOWED WITH THE ABILITIES AND IM CURRENTLY STORYBOARDING A THING THIS IS AMAZING THANK YOU
I was actually working on my first animatic and came across this, it's a very helpful tutorial. I personally use Allight Motion and ibis paint X which are both free and very useful! One tip for storyboarding I have is to use text rather then drawing, it is more rough but it personally works for me!
This is video was so helpful you definitely deserve more attention with your art skills and the quality of these videos. So glad RU-vid decided to recommend me this! Subscribed in an instant Edit: also can I ask what brushes you use for lineart sketching and colour-
Thank you sm !!! When i use photoshop i use the okeefe brushset you get when you take patrick okeefe's art course. The main brushes i used here though were just a hard round and hard square (no opacity change, no size pen pressure) + the photoshop polygon selection tool did a lot of work
Just finished watching, and I have to say, this video is going to be SO helpful to people who are starting out with digital animation! I know that when I first started making my weird animatic/pmv meshes I had absolutely zero idea what I was doing and ended up having to go back and re-do so many little things. Having this advice back then, especially the stuff regarding storyboarding, would have been invaluable and I’m so glad you decided to share your advice!! Your art style is super impressive, too-of course after watching this video I had to go and see your Good Omens animatic in full and I was just absolutely blown away by your use of color and blocky textured shading (how unique?!)! I genuinely haven’t seen anything like what you make before and you really have SO much talent for doing art (and also for explaining your process in ways that others can easily understand). Thanks again for posting this!
you don’t understand how much I appreciate this having no background music/noise, whenever I watch tutorial videos, it always makes me distracted and I get upset and can’t pay attention to what they’re saying. 😭💕
DUDE this feels like fate. i JUST finished Good Omens s2 and i wanted to make an animatic for it, and just found this video. Thank you so much !! :) im going to check the animatic you made now bc it looks SO cool x
This was really helpful! I have a ton of ideas for animatics, but I've always been intimidated by the process. The tip to just go for it is honestly so helpful, so thank you for that :D
this is SOOOO HELPFUL! I've been wanting to make animatics for so long but have always been too intimidated, especially by the editing part. This video had so much information about that that isn't included in other video tutorials. Thank you!!
I loved this. As someone who gets super overwhelmed when I have to learn new things, breaking down what I needed to learn first makes it a lot better for me! Short, to the point, and easy! ❤ Now to sit down and start…
i tried starting an animatic years ago but i got overwhelmed by the first drawing cause i didn't really know how to draw, esp people. now that i have much more experience and knowledge, i might try one i LOVE your style you did in the example btw
This is brilliant! The way you broke down the steps really helped make the process look a lot less scary! I've been putting off starting my own (I overthink a lot and a bit of a perfectionist-) but this really helped push me to try!
Omggggggg you’re so underrated!! Thank you so much. I’ve been doing tiny animatics for so long and just give up like a few days later but this rlly boosted my inspiration.
This is honestly really, really helpful, the reassurance that you don't need expensive or complicated programs really lifted a huge weight off of my shoulders, as someone who can't afford paid programs but really wants to make animatics.
This was super helpful! I have an idea, and I think I’ll actually make it once I finish a map part. This video made making an animatic feel a lot less daunting of a task.
Tysm! I’ve been making animatics for a few years, (most have been unlisted.) and I’ve never even thought of using a storyboard.. I can tell it’s the right option for me though because most of the time each part looks very similar. You’re a life saver!!! Or maybe just an animation saver 😭😭
honestly this is inspiring me to work on my first animatic i started months ago, but got discouraged about!! thanks, this really helped me put it into bite sized chunks. its much less intimidating, now.
I’ve been making animatics for almost 6 years now lol but it’s always cool to see someone else’s progress! I used to not plan/board back in the early years but once I started to, it definitely helped things flow better. Even if it’s not a complex board or script, just having a plan helps! Great vid :)
I really needed this! I just started getting into animating and am working on my first animation (1minute and 46seconds). I didn’t know where to start till I found this video and now I can finally work on it! Thank you for your tutorial!!
this came on my recommended and i was like “oh i should save this for later so i can watch it” and realized i already put it in watch later. anyways i guess its time to stop procrastinating
this was so helpful omg...i have a hard time understanding videos like this if they are super lengthy and over complicate the subject, but this did it perfectly =D and i can even understand it fully woohoo, thank youuuu
Hypnospace Outlaw jingles 👌love to see it Awesome tutorial! I don't attempt animation stuff anymore, but if I ever get back into it, this has actually been super helpful for understanding how to tackle the process for animatics.
Super helpful!! (Especially cuz im also making a good omens animatic lol) I love ur art so much it’s amazing the colors and the effects and everything ❤️❤️
I know this is a tutorial, but I would pay to watch you make animatics. The coloring is absolutely gorgeous and the colors mix together so well, plus i love your artstyle ❤
wonderful video! incredibly helpful, thank you! one of my big problems with animatics is that ill start at the beginning and work hard on it but not plan out every scene first, and thus i end up either forgetting what i wanted to do in certain scenes, or id get sick of doing a frame/not getting through it quick enough and give up. i really want to make more videos and this video is very helpful! again, thank you!
funny how i was actually making a storyboard for good omens as well when i stumbled upon this video, anyway your guides have been really helpful, thanks!!
This is definitely helpful! Idk how on earth i never thought of coloring my thumbnails/storyboards before (Making a full color animatic rn) but I’ll certainly do that in the future 😅
I am literally building my portfolio to apply to art colleges, and realized I had no idea how to even approach an animatic- so thank you for this video :)
tysm for this!! i’ve been making an animatic, currently in the editing stage, on capcut. i knew or kinda figured out some of this stuff, but the keyframe thing was something i didn’t really know that i could do. i’ll be trying it out!
YES I’ve been DYING to figure out how people do the cool zoom fade thing with animatics but couldn’t figure out how because im as smart as a rock THANK YOU🙏🙏
i’ve been making animatics since april 2022. in total i’ve made 26 which is a lot more than i thought. most of them are pretty low quality (only a couple are fully colored) and are vent animatics on another account (i have some omori animatics on this account). i’ve learned a lot and i’ve been realizing more and more that storyboarding or just brainstorming is super important. i’ve made some by just winging it and they look good but most of the time i feel stuck at a point so i make it anyway. so yeah i wish i had a guide like this when i was a young animatic artist
Oh wow, it's not often I see my favorite music pop up in the wild! LOVE the descendents ♥ this video was very motivating, thank you for making it friend 😊
