You just described me...2 time cancer survivor and 2 time open heart surgery survivor. That chemo is a literal heart killer. Enjoy plant based. I've been here over 5 yrs. Love it.
I have just found you and have been binge watching you since 3 o’clock this morning! (I couldn’t sleep). I love how down to earth you and your family are and how accessible your recipes are. I am from the UK and have been vegan for 16 years, but have put on the weight since so many processed vegan foods have become available in the shops. I grow so many of my own fruit & veggies I have no excuse for eating rubbish, I need to go back to a WFPB diet and cut out the crap. I have now subscribed, looking forward to learning even more. Thank you for your wonderful channel.
Thanks so much for this lovely comment. Glad you're enjoying our clan and the channel! You've got this! Let me know if a video on anything in particular could help :)
I saw a video that said that your stomach holds about the equivalent of a mason jar. She then took a mason jar and put 350 cal of oil in the jar. To another jar she kept putting in 350 cal of other foods. And the point was what would you rather have in your stomach to fill you up and that made me realize I was eating way too much oil
I love the practical common sense approach to making vegan alternatives affordably and DIY. I'm tired (in a bad way) of hearing about the amazing packaged vegan products that have about 50 ingredients, most of which aren't actual food. Keep budget, economical, and DIY suggestions coming. This is the first of your videos I've seen, and I look forward to watching your archive. Thanks from Virginia in the U.S.
What amazes me is how tasty everything is with the use of spices. When I ate the standard American diet, I didn't use much beyond salt, pepper, onions and garlic. I have spices, used once, that have been in my cabinet for over 30 years!!!! LOL. Now, I actually use spices for everything. It's so refreshing and my tastebuds are always saying thank you. Being vegan is an adventure. Love your channel, Jeremy.
Thank you! Love that you see it this way. People see it as a restrictive way to eat, but I think those people are already restricted and don't realize how many flavours are out there they don't even realize. Spices for life, baby! (but maybe chuck out the decades old ones, they're not going to pack the punch they should ;-) )
I think it would be fun to have a viewer recipe contest. Have it in categories not all contests at the same time. It would be fun to see what people come up with by making their own recipes or revamping recipes that they have found have become their favorites!
@@pbwithjeremy I'm not sure either. I'm not sure how many people are going to enter recipes. I think it should be one recipe per category per person. Everybody can have some time to try the recipes and vote and the person can make their recipe on your show. I don't know it's just an idea
The part I'm confused about it is what are the recipes? Are they my recipes that others are making? Or their own? I'm just not sure what people are making - and who is voting? Us? The audience?@@debbiestevens5490
This video is the first I've seen of yours on my RU-vid feed. I'm slowly going over to WFPB. I'm South African and trust me eating this way is very expensive here. Our grocery stores don't have a huge range of health products. We have to buy from a health store neither are cheap. Nut prices are ridiculous. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for the info.
Glad this was helpful :) Sorry to hear there's some challenges where you live. Keep it simple with the ingredients you can get and branch out as possible. Fingers crossed things change there!
I love your channel and I'm so happy I found it! Besides being informative and interesting it's also a lot of fun! I'm 73 years old and the only person in my family that is Whole food plant-based. So I don't have a lot of support and videos like this really help me out a lot. I am fortunate that my husband will just about eat anything I make... Haha! So hopefully I'm helping him get healthier whether he likes it or not. 😉 Actually he really appreciates almost everything I make and if he wants to add his own meat to something he can do that. I also can get them to give up dairy but hey it seems to work for him. Anyway thank you for all you do You're an inspiration and you're awesome!
This is such a lovely message - thank you so much :) Glad you're having fun and being inspired by watching the videos. And sounds like your husband is pretty supportive - or at least will go along with it! There's lots of recipes here and on my website that I'm sure he'll love to enjoy with you!
Hi Crystal. I'm 69 in November and am only a few months into this Plant-based world of eating. My husband of 53 years is also pretty good about eating just about anything I make, and even more so recently since I'm finally able to cook again most days, after being bed-ridden for over 1o years He hates to cook, so not having to anymore is a treat for him. I don't know how long you've been plant-based, but I've already lost 90 pounds, am no longer bedridden, wheelchair-bound, seeing specialists several times a week, or spending thousands of dollars in medical bills and medications. As a matter of fact, my doctors at first ran all kinds of tests, not believing the weight loss was not intentional. They came up empty-handed, and then the labs told them a different story altogether. Some have already taken me off some of my medications, and have even stated when they see me next, if my labs are still normal, they'll take me off more. What a blessing! Believe me, and I'm still learning, you and your husband should see results in your overall health before you know it. Jeremy is amazing, as you've discovered. Hang in there and God Bless you and your husband as you make this amazing journey through plant-based eating.
@@barb939That's incredible. You're an inspiration to me. I know about how the pile of pills mounts up. Each specialist adds their preferred meds. Seldon do any of them remove any meds. My medical problems are like an elephant and the docs are just treating the toenail.
I am from Sussex NB. I really enjoy your videos and learn from them. I have been trying some of your recipes and and liked them a lot. I am very fortunate that my husband is willing to go on this journey with me. Our two children are grown and married with children and are nurses (I am surprised that the health care is not more supportive of this way of eating) and not convinced that this is the way we should be eating but we are convinced this is what we want to do we have been doing lots of research and both my husband and myself have been feeling better since following it 80% for the last year. My husband and I have been transitioning to WFPB and we do enjoy and feel better when we eat that way. Right now we have been eating it 100% when we are at home but have not mastered social situations yet. That is our next step. Thank you for your channel and enjoy your family 👏👍👍
It makes a HUGE difference when couples are supportive of each other. It's shocking how far behind the health care industry and doctors are on nutrition - but I chalk it up to the fact that their job is to treat health problems, not prevent them, sadly. But that's what we need to change going forward.
Hi Jeremy 😊 thank you for another great video 😎👍 I've watched from England 🇬🇧 I found your channel, and community, a few weeks ago and have been catching up on your earlier content. I love your enthusiasm, positive outlook and energy 🎉 I'm getting back gradually to a WFBP lifestyle after being vegetarian, just the processed food to let go of.... your recipes are giving me hope that I can make this stick and lose the 65lbs I need to release. Thank you again for all you do 💛 have a wonderful day 🤗
@kathystoner5239 oh my gosh menopause, I can definitely relate there 🧡 I'm hoping this way of eating will help relieve my symptoms as well as aid my weight loss. Sending positive vibes and gentle hugs to you xxx
I'm in upstate NY. Just came across your videos. Starting to binge watch them. I had worked in the Mississauga and Brampton area for about a year. Really loved the area. Visited the CN tower, closest I got to see Toronto.
I’m super rigid cooking, I hate it. Your channel has helped me realize I can start to cook and if it’s not perfect, it’s ok. I hope to open up my menu because of this channel! Happy energy = happy energy. Happy subscriber. :)
I’m glad. I get comments from time to time with people complaining that I don’t always follow the recipe to the letter - but it’s people like you who I make this channel for. The kitchen is meant to play and enjoy. We have to eat a lot as humans so if we can enjoy the process of making the food it’s all the better!!
Just found your channel. Love it. I use to live in Toronto, but left in 2017 when I was diagnosed with cancer. Went WFPB in 2019 in order to reverse my chronic diseases. Enjoying the journey.
I have made a burger with chickpeas and a burger with black eans. We found the black bean burger has a better texture. I made your cheese, omg, game changer so delicious. Thanks for a great recipe.
Having fun with your videos Jeremy. Trying to cram as much info as I can before the 2nd! There’s a LOT! I’ve been doing oat milk for a long while. I’ve been vegetarian for most of my life. But I’m ready to go wfpb. I guess I cheat on my oat milk. I never even thought to find a recipe. I just dump a quart of water with a cup of oats in my blender. Put it a jug in my fridge and shake it well before I use it. I don’t mind the thicker fiber filled milk. Love it actually. 🤷🏻♀️ Your black bean burger with olives is to die for! Absolutely yummy!🤗
That's all you need to do to make oat milk - some people who like it thinner might strain it. Glad you like the burgers. The olives are a game changer, right? :)
I have just found you within the last couple of weeks and have been binge watching your videos. You and your family are a breath of fresh air. I am not wfpb yet but with your videos I can see that it definitely is easier than I thought. I have been pescatarian since 2020 but truly want to transition to wfpb. You make is seem possible and easy. Thanks for the amazing videos.
I’m right at the beginning of my whole food plant based journey so I’m glad I have found you, I’ve been happy to be vegetarian but vegan is a whole step further. My husband is not on board so at present I’m using my meals as his side dish to go with his meat or fish.
You got this! And hopefully you'll find lots of things on here to make you see how easy it can be. Don't worry about your husband - he's going to want to try your delicious meals, and maybe he'll even be willing to join you a few times a week - even if it doesn't give up animal products entirely it'll be good for him to have some meatless meals a few times a week.
Hippy Dust was a game changer for me. Hippy Dust is equal parts Nutritional Yeast, Dry parsley, garlic powder and sesame seeds. You can play with adding onion powder, often I double the nuch... I sprinkle this on everything from salads , soups, pasta. I put it in a shaker ( like a parm shaker) Hippy Dust for the win! 😋
Hi, I'm in a small town DeLand Florida US. I'm over 60 and married with an adult son with autism. We've been vegetarian before and my challenge is my son's palate, and I'm trying to keep me and my husband healthy to take care of him.
Jeremy, AWESOME! You really upped your game with this video. Great learning vid, especially for newbies. So many new people watching now! I love all your videos … always excited to see your newest one. Keep up your good work! Jan in Colorado Springs, CO
Hi There, I just found you and love your videos and recipes....I am plant based ever since I got COVID months ago and I went right back down to my teenage weight!! Now that was exciting....I live in Mississauga, so hi neighbour and know Kitchener well also. Looking forward to following you...I have been changing recipes as best I can to plant based so this video was so well received and thankful... I am off to the website to collect information and recipes......have a great weekend. Val
Hey Val! So glad this is helpful and sorry to hear about your nasty covid bout :( but if it helped you go plant-based maybe it was a sign! Let me know which of the recipes you enjoy!!
Great info! I like to jazz up veggie pasta or quinoa with a sauce made by blending basil and or spinach with water, garlic, tomatoes, raw cashews and nutritional yeast. Having a whole food sauce can make dishes more yummy.
Just want to thank you for your brilliant channel. I'm from Lincolnshire in England and I have been PBWF for 3 years. I have a few cookbooks to help me but your tips on how to substitute one food for another has given me more confidence. I love your children's reactions to the food. I have 3 girls and they are already asking me to make some recipes that they see your kids eat. Your channel is a great help to see what a real family eats. Kerry x
It's comments like this that make it all worth it. I can't tell you how much this brightens my day (and it was already a pretty great day!) That our videos have inspired your confidence in the kitchen makes me so happy. That's what I wanted to set out to do, to normalize this. I'm so excited to hear what your girls think of the recipes when they try them! Thanks for this and keep in touch!
OMG! I’ve been looking for PBWF community nearby but seem to mostly find UK or USA lol! Knew you were in Toronto area…but thrilled to hear the farm is Kitchener area! I’m in Guelph/Cambridge area … mostly surrounded by hard & fast carnivores. Looking forward to following your vids & website!
Hi, I live on the Central Coast here in California I’ve been enjoying your channel and your interaction with your family 😊 Your tips and information are very helpful and make it not so intimidating cooking a plant based diet. Thank you
Thank you, Jeremy. I love your channel, and you and your family. I am new to plant based eating. You have helped me so much to begin and continue my journey. ❤
I’m just beginning my Whole Foods plant based diet and this video was really helpful.. my autoimmune doctor said it would be better for me. So I’m giving it a try.. thanks for all the recipes too.. peace and blessings !
I wanted to say that I really enjoy your channel, just recently found you! Thanks for the great healthy eating lifestyle ideas and just gotta say that your channel is going to grow so fast!!!!😊
Thank you so much for this! It certainly has been booming the last little bit - thanks to lovely people like you watching and interacting. Appreciate it and glad you're enjoying!!!
I am so happy I found your videos. You seem to have a be soul. I love that! I don't feel like if I told you I did really well today on my plant-based journey but then something happened and I ate a cheeseburger that you were going to crucify me. I was on a facebook group that is here local and they were amazing but I just felt like I couldn't live up to how they live. The man and woman that run the page are going through a lot of health issues and so they have to really really watch every little thing they eat and so when they have get togethers I just feel very incompetent in the kitchen with something I would share with others. I might eat some crazy stuff, but to take it to a potluck is another thing. I'm pretty sure I could whip up some brownies that would eat but who wouldn't need a good brownie? Lol I am looking for some different recipes that I can make and take to work or having the fridge for when I get home from work and all I really have time to do is eat something up. I made your Hawaiian fake chicken whatever tofu lol. I took it to work today and it was really good. My local supermarket does not have tofu so I just get it when I am in the town that I work in which is larger. I didn't mean to write a novel but if you knew me this is probably short😂
Thank you for writing us a novel :) Yes - we don't yuck anyone's yum here and we recognize that it's a journey and so we meet people where they are. We don't expect anyone to be perfect. it can take time to shift your ways - each person's journey is unique and I don't think it's helpful to shame anyone that's trying. Glad to have you here!
I've only just recently found your channel and love how honest your family are about the recipes. I have been WFPB for about 3 years here in the UK altough recently have been eating too much processed stuff and the numbers have crept up on the scale. Time for a reset which is why your videos are great. The only thing I cannot abide is Nooch. Every time I used it. it was all I could taste. I am pretty adventurous with other food so don't miss it.
Hello Jeremy, just found your channel. My husband and I are trying to go WFPB and you are just what we need. Thank you so much for all the work you put in these videos. Hilarious also, so you make my day!!!
My pleasure! This means soo much to me. Glad we can be part of your journey! Let me know if there's any kinds of videos that would be helpful to you and your husband!
Just found your channel.. it’s fabulous, love your family and your content.. I eat mostly plant based but sometimes I struggle with consistency when eating out with friends and family. I’m from Ontario also. Thanks for all your efforts 👍👏😊 Gotta go.. I’m binging your channel😂👍
Hi. I'm watching from Dominican Republic. I have 2 months Vegan. It has been amazing. Your channel it's a plus for me now. I will love to check all your recipes. Do you have any sustitutes for Fish and Tuna?
Greetings! And sounds like you're having a great experience so far! Happy we can be of help. Great question about fish. Tofu, banana blossom, and jackfruit are popular substitutes for fish due to their texture - so then it's about flavouring them. Try this recipe or others on Sam's site: itdoesnttastelikechicken.com/vegan-tofu-fillets-vegan-fish/
Hello there and greetings from Lancaster, PA. I just wanted to let you know I am really enjoying your videos, they are entertaining and informative. I have been playing with plant based whole foods for a while and have recently cut out all oils and most processed foods. I make my own bread, sauces, mayo etc., and most of my meals are homemade. This is a great, tasty, nutritious way to live and I love it when I find others who love it as much as I do. What impresses me is the way your entire family is on board with this wonderful way of eating. My personal experience is most people I encounter are curious about PBWF but they give me sooooo many reasons why they cannot do it while their health continues to fail. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks for writing Robert! You're 100% bang on - everyone wants to be healthier but few people are willing to put forth the effort. And the saddest part is that eating this way is super delicious. Glad to hear you're cooking up a storm in your own kitchen! What are some of your go-to sauces that you make???
@@pbwithjeremy my favorite sauces are Tomato and Alfredo,, anything to dump on pasta. I also love making dressings out of avocado, silken tofu and aquafaba. Thanks for responding and take care.
Excellent video!! I need to make my WFPB cooking more diverse and you have given me, through your videos many ideas. Here is a cookbook you should try, Plants Only Kitchen by Gaz Oakley. I just purchased and can’t wait to try some of the recipes. He uses too much oil so as you say it can be omitted or swapped out. Thank you for the inspiration. I have lost 100 lbs and have been in a rut, but hopefully I will continue and reach my goal.
Congrats on your journey so far!!! I've used that book before and it's on my list to review - and I'll include the reduced/removed oil as well!!! Thanks for this lovely comment.
Love your videos. They are a mine of gold especially for me living in France where eating plant based is very rare. Thank you so much. Anne-sophie from the land of cheese (Normandy, France) 🐄
Love your channel Jeremy. You are mesmerising! One thing bothers me though. How do you get enough Calcium, and you haven’t mentioned the need to supplement for vit B12. That’s a couple of things! Thanks from London, England
Hey Polly! I've mentioned B12 in several videos on the channel, just not this one - and I discuss both that and calcium in this video below. Hope that helps. Thanks for the kind words and for watching! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WLGxUoFJvLc.html
Hi to you and the family! Love your videos especially since you tend to use no oil. I am diabetic and have been losing weight & lowering my blood sugar eating this way. I am avoiding most nuts because of the high calories and also white potatoes and dried fruits that can spike blood sugar. (Dates are so yummy, sigh…😭) Otherwise eating lots of healthy whole carbs, beans, vegetables. I need to make sure to eat more veggies so your recipes help!
I’m a few years into this and wondering why some (not all) WFPB RU-vidrs use date syrup and avoid maple syrup. Maple syrup seems WF to me as long as it is 100% pure. Sure it isn’t the whole maple tree but neither is a nut plus I love maple syrup and I don’t want to eat a tree anyway ; ) BTW I’m watching from Philadelphia PA.
@@my2cents0 Both contain some minerals. Date syrup is higher in potassium, maple syrup higher in magnesium. Date syrup is slightly higher in calories and sugars but slightly lower glycemic index. Date syrup is processed like fruit juice, retains a little fiber but most is strained out. Maple syrup has no fiber. Both are usually reduced. Both are sugars, “treat” foods. The flavors are very different. I use whole dates and date sugar (powdered whole dates) but for syrup I prefer the taste of pure, high quality maple syrup. I don’t limit myself to the single most nutritious veg, fruit, nut, or syrup. Just wonder if someone thinks there’s anything “bad” or not whole food about maple syrup.
@my2cents0 Its looks to me like this lady's intelligence and yearn to get the bottom of her question is offending you and is above your intelligence. And btw google doesn't actually have all the answers.
Great video! I love your content so much! I have been binge watching your older videos as well. I need to look around on your website! The thing i struggle with finding good recipes is sauces and salad dressings. Do you have recipes for those? I'm from Utah
I'm brand new to all this with lots to learn. Thank you for the information, I finally feel like I've found a channel to learn from. There's so much confusing information out there. I'll be binge watching 😂
So glad to be helpful! If I can make a suggestion - don't think of it as "converting" your family. No on wants to be converted - think of it like presenting options and encouraging them :)
Found your channel a week ago. I've been following other plant based channels which are great but I love that you are in Toronto! I live just over an hour drive North and love being able to identify with things available to me. What you buy are easily available to me too!
Great video as always, Jeremy. Nutritional yeast has blown my mind! After being dissatisfied with non-dairy parmesan alternatives, I tried sprinkling nutritional yeast on pasta and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. It's also yummy on popcorn, which was lovely to discover as well.
Great content! This should be the default way of eating, and like tell people if they want to swap oily, salty chemical ridden peanut butter , you can but it may contribute to weight gain and heart disease. 😊
Im watching this video on 12/30/23. Looking forward to info. Jerimys cheese recipe is the best if all recipes Ive seen out there in other you tube channels, & Ive been checking cheese recipes going on 21/2 yrs. YEA Jeremy!!!!😮😅😅😊😊. From grandma Katie in Oregon Happy New Year
You forgot to mention in the cheese section about that parm topping substitute you make with the nooch and the nuts--can't remember what kind of nuts, but I think cashews? It's a must on some pasta dishes
@@pbwithjeremy Well, one of them is your easiest and it is the Banana Fraux-Gurt. Brilliant! Breakfast Cookies 🍪 Veggie Wrap Tomato Basil Pasta 🍝 Peach Cobbler Smoothie and many more. I’m making my way through your Recipe Archives. :)))
Just came across this on RU-vid! Love your humor! Question....if you cook your own chickpeas...is the liquid able to be used like canned Aquafina? May be a stupid question, but I've never seen anyone make the whipped cream before! New to WFPB...to save my husband's life as well as my own. Keep up the great videos! 😊
Yes - you 100% can use that liquid, but you want to cook it down on the stove so it's a bit thicker like the stuff that comes out of a can - sometimes you even need to cook that down. But let it cool before you try it.
Hey Jeremy - another great video! I’m curious (sorry if you covered this in another video) how long did it take you to lose the weight and did you have any loose skin etc after?? Thanks 😊
This video should cover most of that. Let me know if there's anything else you'd like me to cover. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o8BCHunYuas.html
