I learned so much from this. Thanks so much for doing all the research, all the prep, then making the video. That's a lot of work! And the soap looks awesome.

The butters do raise the cost of the soap. I found the cacao beans at Whole Foods... they are not cheap either :) Oh wow, $15 is crazy high!

I love black soap and swear by it. I even wash my hair and sometimes my clothes. Someone is always asking about my face and what I do to keep it clear and smooth.

You are amazing! Sorry to have watched this too late for the soap opp... but I will be trying this recipe soon. My family is from the Caribbean and we practically live off plantains. :o)

Well, this was a great vid, I have been researching black soap for a while. I know a lot of people who use it. But I like your version of how its made much better. Hope you don't mind if I try and make a batch inspired by you :)

Maybe check out ebay for cacao beans for your next batch. Funny how something can be as common & simple as can be in one place & super expensive out of its element. Anyway, thanks for another super tut !

The plantain looks like a banana but tastes very different. Hope you can find your ingredients :)

I love your videos- I have learned so much by watching them. I had heard about this soap and it sounds intriguing. Plus, it will give me an excuse to buy some plantains- yum! Also, if I can find laurel oil I am definitely going to try the Aleppo soap. I have searched online and so far haven't been able to find it- just the laurel essential oil, which I know isn't the same thing. Keep making videos, please! You rock!

i'd like a video about taking care of our soap after saponification: where to put it after cut, timing, where to store it... it should be interesting :) waiting for your next great tutorial!

Very nice soap class Teach. I will try this one on my to do list. I also tried Plantain before and I did not like it. Won't eat it again, but hey the skins are worth it LOL!! Who would have thought?

I love the sound of all the wonderful ingredients. Is plantain a relative of the bananas? I would love to try this recipe if I could ever find all the ingredients. Thanks for wonderful tuitorial,

Normally Black soap is not so dark. My question is did it turn out that way because of using the bean and not the pod? Is there any property differences between the two? Oh love your channel!

Excellent tutorial. Like others on this thread, I'd like to know if there is an alternative to using a dehydrator which I don't have. If so, please specify temperature requirements and drying time. Thanks so much.

Dangit ! I missed the soaps. Super interesting. I have never seen Black African soap. It must be very expensive to buy considering the expensive ingreds. Where on earth did you get the cacao pods ? P.S. I saw a bottle of Dr. B's castille soap at the place where I buy the raw food for my dogs. It was $15 for the smallest bottle ...maybe 10-12 ozs. Crazy eh !

This sounds like a wonderful soap! Can you share your technique for drying and powdering the plantain? You seem to get a nice fine powder, something I can't seem to be able to do.
