YAY!!! Last time I did a bag of broccoli at 0 minutes (the only time I’ve tried steaming broccoli in my UP) it was mushy. I wondered if starting with hot water would help shorten the time it was cooking- yours look like it came out the perfect balance of cooked yet crispy. Thanks
How about adding water to the open pot and setting it to Saute' to heat the water and pot? Before putting in the broccoli and closing the pot. (I can't use heated tap water in my home)
yay! mine came out perfect, used 1cup of hot tap water on my ip-lux60 v3 (6lt), manual 0 minutes ! not mushy but crispy THANKS!!! my apologies for my English is not perfect.
I did this and the bottom of my pot was burnt and the water was gone when I opened it. The broccoli was awesome however. I wonder if maybe the gasket wasn’t in properly??
Trying this tonight. Hopefully my unit has the ability to adjust down to 0. It has a time adjustment button but never use it. The vegetable button pressures up and cooks for 2 minutes making the veggies mushy and my wife won't eat them. 2 of our grandchildren coming over to visit and they love broccoli.
Mine does the same. The time doesn't really matter. Put the hot water in, start the pressure cooking process. When it comes up to to full pressure, hit the "Cancel Button" and release the pressure.
Why do people claim they're "steaming" broccoli in the IP when they're actually using the pressure cooking function? There is a "steam" function on the IP that actually steams and does a ebtter job of cooking broccoli than pressure cooking it, but no one ever uses it...(?)
I have an Instant Pot and I can tell you all those different buttons for various foods are useless and just a gimmick. All the Instant Pot does is create the same cooking pressure no matter what food you cook or what option you use. All you can do is control the cooking time and if you want to release the steam manually. I won't be buying an Instant pot again for sure.
