i have been using this with a mix of broccoli and cauliflower and works every time, never soggy and never too firm just perfect to use as a start to a cold salad mix on hot days, Also was pleased to find the best method does not even use/need a steamer pan since I do not have one that fits and didn't want to spend money on one and now I'm glad I didn't. Thanks for sharing this very simple yet helpful recipe.
Thank you so much! All the recipes I saw for steaming broccoli called for 2 to 5 minutes and it was a huge mushy mess.! Thank you so much my broccoli came out perfect
You are welcome! This technique works on most veggies, like asparagus, snow peas, spinach, green beans, also on frozen veggies. Check out my Instant Pot video playlist ru-vid.com/group/PLxnfP_LRoakE9dboEzz1O5KbUbdzCeIF_
Here I am again 😁 my Salmon came out great! Thank you! Now I'm wondering for how long cook I boil my frozen broccoli? 1 minute? I'll appreciate your answer 😁
Great that salmon came out well! Frozen broccoli is also zero minutes, it takes longer to come to pressure when it's frozen and meanwhile it cooks through
Debs way channel brought me to the #instapot, which brought me to your channel. I just bought a new one and have not used it yet. I have also subscribed, thank you.
So, no need for a steamer basket, because the cook time is quick? Can you add the spices in the pressure cooker, that they cook down with the broccoli?
For some reason, our 3L Instant Pot cooks quite differently than our 8L pot... and I just can't seem to get the time right! For instance, what would be the time for broccoli in the 3L pot? Sometimes, our stuff comes out mushy and sometimes hard as a rock...
Sorry it didn’t work! Sounds like your Instant Pot is not cooking at all, maybe it’s broken? When you plug it in, is the screen lit? The screen should be on and show the time that you are choosing.
It might technically retain a bit more of the nutrients if you use a steamer basket in the Instant Pot, since no broccoli would be even partially submerged in water during the cooking process. Considering the small amount of water (in steam form during the highest heat part of cooking), I'm guessing any nutrient retention gain when using a steamer basket would be miniscule. Otherwise, I think this is just as healthy as stovetop or microwave steaming. Heat/cook time is probably a bit shorter with the Instant Pot.
@@MelanieCooksRecipes I did your method before you replied, and I can confirm that the nutrients were intact. Very flavored! We ate the same amount of broccoli as we normally eat. We got a bit of an upset stomach from all that extra good stuff; because we were so used to bland boiled broccoli, that we used to eat piles of the mush. Now a little goes a long way and tastes great. Thanks for the useful video.
