Hope this one is helpful. Its something I wish I had when I was starting out. Get the free pack of 11 buildings here: www.maxhayart.com/free-buildings-asset-pack
Facts. This talented person is not only inspiring me to make new stuff but also showing his workflow and a glimpse into how he goes about stuff and also provides free assets. What more can a person ask? Very grateful 🙏
You have been my biggest inspiration for getting into blender. All you do looks so complex and cool but you break it down every single time and it is so damn helpful. It is so refreshing to have someone like you who is not gatekeeping all those great tips and practices. And the awesome free asset packs - this man won't stop giving. Thank you so much for everything Max.
My favorite thing as an observer is the growth of Max becoming literally one the greatest Blender Creators out there. There's not a platform where you cant find his work in some form. Every 3D artist has once come across his work and to me that's just beautiful. Kudos to you sir. Thank you for giving back to this community. From not just a fan, but a student, thank you.
You don't know how helpful this is to me!!! Thank you for making it free it's truly a blessing, I've been looking for this for a really long time for my project 😭😭
That center cube which blocks your sight through: You can apply an emmissive texture to it with a greyscale brick texture, random colored bricks, and a yellow hue node: looks like some offices are lit up.
Very fun and I love doing stuff like this that's fundamentally simple but leads to complex and believable results. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and assets too.
8:24 in to this and I have learned more than I have a in weeks on other tutorials and trying to learn myself! A BIG THANK YOU. I am going to buy your course! You explain things very well!
This has helped me ALOT. I’ve been trying to figure out how to effectively make futuristic buildings and cities but have really been dreading it because I hate doing environments lol. I’m a character designer that’s gotten into game development 2 years ago so THANK YOU🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾. I DEFINITELY subbed💯. I was trying to do this in unreal 5 but I can just move the ones I make into unreal
Brilliant stuff as always! Been here since day one and I can't thank you enough for all the effort and great advice you're putting out here! Will try to buy your course but I can't afford it right now. If you feel inspired, would be amazing to get a video on: - How to manage disk space, librairies and safe backups - Where to post the final artworks when they're done (apart from artstation and instagram) Cheers :)
Omg it's taken me so long to realize I needed to alt+click near the edge of the direction I want to select in face mode for it to work. Here's me just randomly alt+clicking a face until it works... Thank you :')
I also focus on architecture and buildings in Blender and I was experimenting with the window materials a lot. I ended up using the basic glass BSDF and just changing the IQR to make it more transparent or reflective, sometimes I add a little bit of glossy BSDF with mix shader if I need extra reflection. Your material has really a good transparency and it is quite different. It makes a sharp shadow inside the buildings, whereas the normal glass BSDF makes it more smooth. I am not really sure which one is more realistic, but maybe each of them looks better in different situations and angles. Anyways, thank you for your idea
This is great Max. As usual. Something so simple can look so awesome. I can hear your microphone ambient noise, guessing it's on the same desk as your PC... Try putting it on a separate mic stand on the floor. Then anything you do on the desk won't come through the microphone. :)
this is amazing work i love it! I was wondering, how would you go about the lighting in a night scene? without any emissions a scene im working onwith these is feeling real dark
You can use collections of pieces as 1 asset in the browser now big W, great videos btw i randomly came across the 15 min challenge and now i am 4 videos in 😅
17:33 Could someone please explain why not all edges go in the x-direction here? How can we make the extrusion follow along each face, like in the video?
Pretty cool, by the way the email with the assets is falling into the spam folder, just so you know, thank you for the pack, great tutorial and I guess your course is amazing!
I don't have any idea how to use blender but I wanted to transfer the free pack to unreal editor fortnite, issue is there are no textures. I'm clueless on this kind of thing, how can I make the textures appear?
Hey i like the content! Im having a problem that im getting stuck on. 15:54. I've have no option to select similar length. Every option but length and it messes me up from that point on. Do you have a reason why? thank you a lot.
I cannot get past the extruding of the external struts where you Shift D (duplicate) and select "P" then extrude. Whenever I do it, It doesn't fill the struts and only extrudes the one edge and then I spend 15 minutes getting it all right and that's only the one strut because selecting by length had been de selected now. So I need help with the extruding part because after making own selection, anything I do is not like the video. The edges don't fill creating a solid structure. 17:34 to 17:38 after extruding the strut becomes fully solid and after extruding mine doesn't do that so I'm wondering what I am doing wrong? Thank you!

Sounds silly but I have tried over 35 times and I cannot get this to do what the tutorial does. This happens a lot in my building. I think It's an older command and blender newer versions have updates where I'm missing something I think I can't Select P after duplicating without hitting enter first. Really strange and frustrating. This was the best tutorial in a longtime too :(
I don't know why I am not either being able to get the email nor get the download link. It is showing error 400 when I click on the link that says alternate download link
I am not sure why, but whenever I try to download ANY of your assets....it never comes through my email. I always check my spam folder too. Not sure why, but I would like these buildings.
A key point to making materials is that you emulate what it is you're making. Glass for example is not a type of metal so you shouldn't be making it metal. This also applies for other things, for example, if you're making a plastic material but its not as shiny as you want you don't then set the metallic value to 0.5 because it's not a metal, you would have to play with your roughness map. Not trying to bash the video but there's little "errors" like this that do more damage than good by teaching them to others. Personally the past year I've had to unlearn soooo much bullshit because the person I learnt it from didn't know they were doing it wrong. Again not trying to bash the video (I mean my points about materials so 🤷♂)
Yeah that was the one part of the video I also stumbled over. I was wondering why he was using metallic instead of glass and maybe use fresnel to control the mixing of the transparency, but I guess as long as it looks believable enoughmetallic might also work even if it's technically not correct.
Because he didn't want the effect of the refraction on the reflections i guess. That is kind of a personal choice of the artist. Not everyone needs it to be 100% realistic all the time, it's a choice of what looks better to you. And i thought he explained why he did that and also briefly showed how you could just as easily set it up as glass if you wanted to. Personally i found that useful because sometimes with lots and lots of refraction going on, it can make the scene look a little dizzy for certain renders/certain lighting.
@@ThisIsDownstate that’s fair if you’re not a channel that seems to focus of photorealistic renders, if max did stylised art as well then fairs but that’s not the case. Look if you wanna make stuff that’s literally only gonna work in blender than cool, I genuinely wish you all the Best but if you’re gonna teach people, at least understand the reasoning behind everything and explain that. I cannot think of a reason why you should use “cheat” methods (I say cheat because it seems like a quick and easy fix but it isn’t) instead of actually learning the software and doing it properly.
@@homborgor he explained why so I don't see what you have an issue with. Also his shit is not ultra realistic at all lol he's making giant sci fi towers and stuff.
4:05 google high quality city pictures for good references 7:03 apply scale in Object mode before continuing to modify the mesh. This will prevent errors further down the line 8:00 left off here 17:33 stuck here. cannot seem to follow this tutorial something goes wrong when trying to extrude along normals
Hey Max , love the tutorial but just one question. Why do you sound like youre chewing gum in all of your videos ? , i dont mean to offend you in any way.
