Yes sir. Tapping loosens the grounds from the side of the cup so they float down eventually. Cold water sinks in warm water, pulling the ground down to the bottom faster
I made coffee every morning that exact same way except the tapping. Give it five minutes and the grounds will settle. Funny part is I’m using the same Stanley cook pot also.
The last time I was in jail we got to have an electric percolator (without metal parts). This is what we did, but used a little cold water sprinkled on top of the hot coffee to take the grounds to the bottom. Really good during a game of Spades.😅
I can tell you this is one the best ways to make coffee. In all other methods, water is forced through coffee, and its so quick that powder doesnt get enough time to open up. This method allows powder to get wet, open up and loose all the flavour to warm water.
Yes, this method, pour over, French Press are all my favorite ways to make coffee. No paper filters, no electronic machine. Oh, I'm starting to get interested in trying out, testing a percolator.
In one of my favorite films Hildago there's a scene where the Sheik is talking to the Cowboy about how most foreigners find their coffee too strong. Frank Hopkins drinks it straight and says "Where I'm from we throw a horseshoe in the pot. If it stands up that means coffee is ready" 😂
It's as simple as that, tap the pot, shock the grounds and you're good to go. Never really been a fan of adding cold water! Thanks for your comment Laurie, you're awesome 👍
he did it correctly...Lots make the mistake of adding the coffee straight into Boiling water....you add it before its hot. believe it or not burnt coffee is a thing
Just a friendly reminder, being in the woods enhances the flavor and effect by at least double, sometimes tripple! This is the real way to make coffee in my mind. Even though I am currently letting my "coffee maker" do the work. Nothing beats cowboy coffee. Its boiled beans, people. Thats all coffee is!
Nice but I think I'll keep a piece of non used panty hose. When my brew filter acts stupid and breaks. I like the cowboy too but the NYC seventies before my mom got the coffee maker and perculator.there was Sanka instant and coffee international with a little hot chocolate. Especially on snowy , blizzard and cold days. That the reason of the importance of having a gas stove before the new Mayor wants to freeze people out.
You made coffee like this in your military service . It is the simplest way to make it: just a kettle, coffee powder, water and heat. No parts a la percolator needed. Didn't know this should be specifically a cowboy way of doing it, or invented by cowboys. It is simply the time before electric coffee machines, french presses, percolators, Melitta filters, or the simples way to make coffee outdoors on open fire.
i just saw a video with 400k views and he took 15 mins to explain this! i commented it should be a 30 second clip and he was a tool for the length and as soon as i closed that video, this one came up. well made clip brother. lol 15 mins for this
I was always told to never boil your coffee , I add milk n sugar then coffee then pour over the boiling water n not to burn the coffee, you want to maintain those coffee oils. I wonder what coffee boffens think hmm...
@@jeetkunedoatlanta2464 if it is plastic, studies show that plastic releases particles into food. Some claim BPA free, and they end up having a different form that is even worse for health.
The fact that you are calling someone a dummy and can't even spell it is hilarious... also try looking up what cowboy coffee is and maybe see what a percolator is. This is how people made coffee for decades before your drip machine genius....
