Hi everyone! People have been requesting that I do a toy saber mod for a long time now and while that is a valid method of prop making that regularly happens in the film industry, it comes with its own set of challenges. Today I explore those challenges!

You need some diffuser material in the blade to make it light up better. Clear gift wrap rolled up around a dowel and inserted inside is best, but if your going cheap just run some steel wool down the outside of the blade to make it look frosted

Awesome video man!! Some things I would like to see you make from Fallout 4 are Grognak’s Axe, the Power Fist, the Cryolator, Lorenzo’s Artifact Gun, the Alien Blaster Pistol, the Shishkebab, the Flamer Gun, the Ripper, Atom’s Judgement, The Problem Solver, Cito’s Shiny Slugger, or the Disciples spiked helmet.

I gave up on making props in October of 2017 when I was trying to make Red Hood guns. I saw this video in my recommended and watched it in June/July (I don't remember which one, it was some time in summer) and I've been trying to make things ever since. I made a Harry Potter wand (cheaply and a bit too big) I went on to help my brother make a skate park out of wood parts from Michael's. Now I'm working on a Spider-man mask. Thanks for the inspiration.

Fallout prop ideas: Shishcabob (really hope I spelled that right) Armored vault suit (doesn't really matter to me what number, I guess you can pick your own even if it's not from one of the games) Plasma rifle (Have you made that already? Wait I'll check......... No, I guess you haven't.)

That lil hand me down file set is awesome, I love tools like this, love going to markets (car boot markets) and find and buy lil sets like that..... They will end up being handed down to my son one day.......

The lightsaber was made for Halloween costumes, not battling. That's why it was so bad quality. It's just for looks, not play. Great video once again, Jake!

To get a good wood texture, you can use a tube of some sort and glue waves of rope or tightly rolled paper down the length of the pipe/tube. Once it’s dry, you can paper mache large sheets of paper towels over the pieces of rope and then paint it brown.

usually the floor mats are cheaper on amazon but you can get the thin roll I used in this video for like $8 a roll or the kind used to make the guard pieces for $1 per sheet. So yeah if you had to buy all the parts in this video made of eva foam it would be $9

Yes! The tutorial I was looking for! Also, in the future, can you make a tutorial on Darth Maul's double bladed lightsaber from The Phantom Menace? This Star Wars Rebels one is pretty great too, but I'm also a big fan of the originals. Thanks for another great tutorial Jake! Edit: Another tutorial suggestion: the original stormtrooper helmet from Star Wars films 4-6???

You should definitely try to make an Inquisitor lightsaber that works and everything. Like how in Rebels the blades spin but the handle doesn't. Please do that it'd be awesome.

If you know anyone with the tools, Use a 3D scanner or even make a 3D mesh, some sites print like shapeways you can even print in metal not just plastic tho unless you own the printer it’s very expensive but doing a 3D mesh and printing it appropriate size would be best

I think that the glue they used was contact cement but instead of putting it on both sides, they just put some down and thought it would work

Ya know what, i liked it. Some parts are a little predictable if you've seen a lot of movies before, but i got a kick out of it. Then again, I am biased to amazing production design.
