Great idea! The only thing I did different was to make a C template with the head then cut out the A sections on the head and body of the C section. That way you trace the outside and the cutout A's and you have one template instead of three.

Ive been making my own self healing rubber targets. Horse mats sold at a farm supply. One sheet was $40 bucks and I got 5 regulation sized torso targets. I've put over 1k rounds through the first one and its still going strong. Paint it white and touch up as you go.

nails glued on plywood in the shape of target sections and rubber mallet to hit card board on nails, a idea I thought of but never made

No offense to the content creator or anyone in the hobby of making DIY Targets, but making DIY targets are only cheaper if you do NOT factor in your time. The time to gather the materials, the time to design, and the time to make the targets. I buy 4" splatter stick-on targets from Amazon for only pennies each and stick them onto pizza boxes, amazon boxes and even just on the catch box. Dirt cheap, effective, and takes minutes, if not seconds, to deploy.
