In this video guide, we'll show you how to make container candles with an embedded heart shape perfect for Valentine’s Day or other romantic occasions. We experimented with a few different waxes and found that the IGI 6006 paraffin-soy blend works beautifully for this application, so if you’re considering trying out this candle wax, this is a fun project to begin with.
These candles make great gifts for any occasion but we especially like them for Valentine's Day! You can find the full step-by-step tutorial here: www.candlescience.com/learnin...

How long should you let the candle cure before adding the embeds ?
@candlescience
@candlescience Год назад
You can add the embed as soon as the candle is solid, this can take a few hours in most cases but sometimes it can be ready sooner. It can depend on your materials and environment. If you're making large batches, you could pour your candles one day and then add the embeds the next day if that process is easier.

Can I do this with a pillar soy wax? If so, would I let it cool and set up completely before cutting with cookie cutter? Thanks!
@candlescience
@candlescience 5 месяцев назад
It would be worth a shot but many pillar waxes are pretty hard and they may crack when cut. You might want to experiment with cutting it before it's fully cooled though.

Wouldn’t just using a heart shape silicone/food grade mold be better than the extra steps of pouring it and cutting it? It would also help reduce waste costs of parchment and having to clean another item?

You could absolutely use what you have on hand! The 6006 is a container wax so it may be a little tricky to get out of a mold though. A pillar wax or beeswax would work well for that method but you may need to adjust your wick.

for you guys, how long does it takes the wax to reach 185F using this double boiler method ?
@candlescience
@candlescience 7 месяцев назад
It can vary each time as many factors can affect how long the melting process takes. It depends on the type of wax I'm using and the amount, as well as the strength of the burner I'm using. Waxes with higher melt points and in larger amounts can take a bit longer to melt completely.

Dana... I want to ask that after drying my candle gets to start frosting why plz help
@candlescience
@candlescience Год назад
Hi! If you're using soy wax, some frosting will likely occur over time no matter what. It happens with natural waxes but there are some things you can do to lessen the initial effects. I'd recommend trying some of these steps to see if they help: support.candlescience.com/hc/en-us/articles/201352534-How-can-I-lessen-the-effect-of-frosting-in-my-soy-candles-

What is the percentage of fragrance added to the wax?? If I have 100 gram of wax and want to add %10 of fragrance oil should the total be (90gram wax +10 mlfragrance oil)or (100 gram of wax+10 ml fragrance oil)??
@candlescience
@candlescience Год назад
Great question! So when weighing out materials, you'll want to use the same unit of measurement for both. In this case, we'll go with grams. For a 10% fragrance load in 100 g of wax it would be: 100 x .10 = 10 g of fragrance oil This equation can be found here and can be customized: support.candlescience.com/hc/en-us/articles/201389120-How-do-I-calculate-the-amount-of-fragrance-oil-I-need-

Will this work with a softer wax?
@candlescience
@candlescience Год назад
Possibly! The main issue will likely be that the wax will want to stick to the shape and not hold its shape. Container waxes tend to be softer and stickier by nature. The 6006 is still pretty soft and the embed is easily squished in your hands. You could absolutely experiment though!

I don't know if CW3 is softer or not but I've been using it and putting embeds in some of my candles with success.

Mam tunnelling occurs in which types of candles and how to remove it and what are the precautions taken while pouring wax to avoid tunnelling in candle. Please reply
@candlescience
@candlescience 10 месяцев назад
Tunneling can occur in all types of wax! It is commonly caused by trapped pockets of air under the surface of the candle or by using a wick too small for the candle. To prevent it, I'd recommend pouring the wax slowly into your jars and choosing a wick that is the appropriate size for the wax and container you'll be using. support.candlescience.com/hc/en-us/articles/115007606407-What-is-Tunneling-and-How-do-I-Fix-It-

What temperature do you pour the wax?
@candlescience
@candlescience 10 месяцев назад
It can depend on the wax and the project but for the 6006, usually around 170 F
