Make ethanol free gasoline at home for your two-cycle and small engines with simple components. amzn.to/3oFTOAo amzn.to/3FmBCSb amzn.to/3BeZogm amzn.to/3mz6OEW
That's by far the best way I have seen for separation on RU-vid. So thanks for that. I would also do this outside. And thanks for the links, although the 2000ml separator is expensive in the UK. I'll be giving it a go as suffering from expansion of the fuel tank on my Triumph Speed Triple.
Never pour this or anything else that is flammable or reactive as suggested down the drain. This is how unsuspecting city employees get injured or killed. Please use common sense.
So add 10% water to the jug. Dump in gasoline,. Shake a few times over the next few hours. And wait over night and pour the gas off leaving the water behind. Cool.
Sorry, nice try but surely all too fast with far too much movement of the can causing small quantities of water and ethylene to remain in the gasoline, and better with a dye in the water. The glass container used is perfect for filling with the gas and water, bigger would be even better, and leaving for hours if not over nite, then opening the tap to drain the ethanol/water crap out, leaving just gas that can be emptied directly into a gas container ?
what do you do with the ethanol/water mix that's left? the ethanol is used to raise the octane in gas so you removed it which lowers the "grade" of fuel so what are you using to bring the octane back up.
This is only worth it if you can't buy ethanol free gas. Where i live its maybe 30 cents per gallon more and this equipment currently costs over $143. I would have to process almost 500 gallons once I deduct the ethanol removed to make this worth it. Fun experiment to do to test the gas in my area, though.
Not sure what the ethanol would be used for, but it would have to be really quickly after separation because ethanol goes bad when exposed to water and one of the main reasons that people are even separating ethanol out of the gas in the first place
Sooo you aren't adding dye to the water to help identify alcohol/water mixture, and instead of letting mix separate in funnel you pour it out as 'gas' into can. You should let it sit, separate in funnel, pour out bottom alcohol/water mixture, then what remains is gasoline. Also you should start with highest octane gas you can get as the rating accounts for combustibility of the ethanol you remove. Start with Super in other words.
Better idea and a hell of a lot cheaper if you just need maybe one or two liter for your leaf blower, just get a empty 32 oz. Clear bottle, fill with about 3.5-4 oz. Of water, rest gas, screw on top and shake. Wait an hour or over night, and than sniffing off the ethanol free gas. You prolly already have the bottle in your fridge, buy a sniffing hose and your good to go. No need for ~$120 bucks of glass.
Or find a gas station that sells ethanol free gas. I drive by a few places that sell it and its around 30-40 cents more than regular. Also doing this lowers the octane level.
I would guess he means to let every pour settle and save the first bit of each pour and add that to the last pour. Maybe also do one more round of the last pour, or just the whole initial process saving the "head" of each pour for the last. Just a guess
How then does one properly use a separation flashy(or funnel), according.to standard methods. But don't forget sir, what is being demonstrated is for the average person to deploy.
This gave me an idea Sir. Would just filling a gallon with salt at the bottom do the same thing and just discard the jug with inpureaties for the trash man ????
yeah - wtf wxf? do tell! Actually there are a dozen other ways this particular setup is overkill - but put it on a table and the container on a bench so you don't have to transfer it using an intermediary. If you pour that e10 etc into proper container like a 5-gallon water bottle from a water cooler (very thick) - and drain the water then pure petrol out a valve you install at the bottom you would be in business a lot faster - cheaper too! If you want to filter the last 0.1% of water from the gas you would have to run it through a paper-stack. They actually use rolls of toilet paper with no side-effects for that among other things. Just find a suitable PVC pipe and caps and you can DIY. You need a small fuel pump and the hose can go in and out the top - just let it run a few minutes. 1 roll will hold about a quart of water and the TP will show cracks and separations when it needs changing.
I've recently wondered again how much cotton, a real chamois or maybe even just oven dried desiccant like say commonly found CaCl or silica gel would perform quantitatively?
Can be as quick as a few shakes, but I recommend leaving it for some time because the water droplets will take some time to completely separate from the gas. Once the gas is no longer “cloudy”, then you’re good to transfer out the gas and water/alcohol layers
Using water, the mixture would have to set overnight to alow the water/alcohol portion to settle at the bottom. Using a clear juice bottle would alow one to just pour off the gasoline, leaving a small amount of gasoline on top of the water. Which is exactly what was actually done in the video! Capping off the residual water/alcohol/gasoline to reuse for the next batch without losing any gasoline. Or it could be siphoned... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tAaSmAB_FAA.htmlsi=OjlW_-J1-EsQAzSG
I agree I use a gallon glass bottle Shake it up and let it settle (a few times. Last time overnight) Then siphon off the gas on the top. Much less screwing around Also Don't have to buy all the breakers, etc
