It’s not really 90s trance though. 90s was less sounds and wasn’t squashed with side chain. Still sounds good though.

I grew up in the 80’s and as such compare ANY rock music to the 80’s (none have come close lol), but did my fair share of clubbing in the 90’s and I must agree… 90’s set the bar for EDM … and none have come close since then either (of course there are a few exceptions, I meant “largely” none have come close)

Thank you. I'm 62 and grew up with a lot of evolving music and having been a part time DJ way back to the early 80's I've seen and heard it all you might say. Trance is one of my all time favourites and I've recently got back into using a DAW (last one I had was cubase on an atari st early 90's using 'proper' instruments) - I wish I had them now, worth a small fortune. I've downloaded this and not only is it a great tune, it is really showing me how the stock plugins/ effects work and how they effect the sound with envelopes etc. Keep up the great work, much appreciated!

Recently watched a BK tutorial where he refreshes one of his old trance/hard house tunes and uses a techno rumble bass for the first half of the track then after the break goes back into old school offbeat bass definatly a good way to use this and combine with Wills other tecnho tutorials to create a modern hybrid track.

Thanks! Ableton just seems to be made for this kind of music. I am not really a fan of high levels of side compression as I seem to get irritated by the constant pumping of the lead synth. But I do acknowledge that it does wonders to the mix. I will be turning it down a bit in my mixes, though :)

You _can_ route the clap to the clap-verb-sidechain-compressor without splitting the clap out to a separate track. At least, I tried this in Ableton 10. In the dropdown where at eg. 28:47 you see "Post FX", you can select the clap from the options there.
