FEEL FREE TO TAG ME ON TWITTER @JolinCookie so i can see your creations ❤️ ALSO i noticed a lot of people had this issue with the origin or center of rotation heres the solution: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RdeBxe1KrtU.html
Don’t give up guys I’m new at blender started with the donut tutorial, got about halfway through and decided to move on to something I wanted to make. This tutorial took my 3 days and 4 start overs and I finally got a result I like. This whole learning process took me about 2 weeks. Y’all got this.
Can I just say this helped me so much 😭🙏. The people complaining. Do not know how the basics. And simply this is a START to make HAIR not to how to use blender. Overall I loved this. Yes it took me around a few days to get a better understanding but it was worth it
This video is gonna help me soooooooo much. Finding someone who can model hair is hard as it is and finding someone with a reasonable price as a small income developer is really hard too so this should really help me get the style I've been struggling to get.
I did the my first hair. 😄 It was a very educational video for me. Thanks for everything. After the hat I made, I'm thinking of putting the hair on sale as well. 👍
Quick tip when selecting the edges to dissolve them instead of manually selecting every other one select all then go to the select button up and click checker deselect
This tut was really hard to follow! For example merging and dissolving and fixing the scalp was not easy I’m new so it’s probably on me I’m going to keep trying with this tutorial tho! ❤
This is not step by step because you dont describe every step. Step by step would be saying "im going to do this by pressing this which can be found here" you just say "im going to do this" and do it 🤦
@JolinCookie Blender is extremely difficult if it was easy then everyone would be doing it. I'm simply pointing out that you are calling this a step by step but it's not
um bae ur just slow u can’t blame someone else bc of ur lazy effort to actually learn the program maybe try learn how to use blender first before trying to model? hope that helps
hiii tysm for this tutorial it was really helpful, but i was just wondering if you could make a bangs tutorial since im struggling to understand how to do it properly? id rlly appreciate it
I appreciate the voiceover as it allows me to listen as I follow compared to other tutorials (most of them are text so I have to pause and read throughout.) but one thing that kind of bugs me out a bit about your video is the custom framing that blocks and overwhelms some of the corners and sides while you’re demonstrating what you’re doing on Blender, making it appear somewhat small and compressed. Sorry, just a nitpick I have.
Where did you find the add then mesh? I’m doing it on computer so it’s maybe that, but I still don’t understand the first part!!! I’ve been searching for so long
the mannequin is from roblox studios! you can add mesh under layout or modelling mode then next to where it say edit or object mode, there should be “add” on the row of buttons
tbh i didnt rlly understand and why did u skip so many steps so idk i dont rlly think this is a tutorial bc its not easy to understand bc u skipped steps and that just makes it hard.
you should sell hairs i would buy them❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ like on your group❤i hate being mobile im only watching this so i can save it and so i can see how people do it i dont know who i find it interesting but i do..
this video does not help whatsoever, you're literally not explaining anything and just clicking random buttons as if everyone is supposed to magically understand what you're talking about! Im not even 2 minutes in and im completely lost because you are clicking all over the screen and editing the footage cutting of essential parts, so we're just wondering what to do. If you wanted to upload this as a "tutorial", then you should've marked in for intermediate people.
“I cannot understand this video!” “This video does not help whatsoever!” “Do a better job at explaining next time!” “This is so confusing!” I clicked on this video because I wanted to learn how to start making UGCs before realizing that I had to learn the basics first. If this video is NOT helping you, *you need to go learn the basics of blender*! The video title even says “intermediate” 😭 I have learned how to use blender now, and this is a really helpful video. Instead of complaining, read the title. People are literally so blind istg
Hi Jolin! I was wondering what you pressed at 10:53 that showed you the grid on the hair. This tutorial has helped me so much btw! It's gotten me the farthest!
@@JolinCookie Hmmm, is there something I could do to make the grid appear? whenever I select the strands, and I enter edit mode, it just shows me the lines with the bulbs for each strand.
@JolinCookie Omg TYSM! I, however, did find that out earlier, and I got to the texture step, but it didn't work, so tomorrow I'll just restart! Thank you, though!
Hello your video is very informative. I have a question. When I made hair, the outside was clearly visible, but the inside was transparent and the back was open. How did you apply the double-sided shader?
those are because of normals! tou can check by clicking the two overlapping circles at the top left corner of the workspace and toggle face orientation OR go to the shading mode under solid and toggle backface culling
@@crisaudios the edit mode button at the top left screen should work for both curves and meshes 😨 make sure you arent selecting both curves and meshes when you edit it, it might not work thenn
THIS IS SO HELPFUL. one question tho, how do i change the origin thing (the orange dot on top of the mannequin head) as mines set on the hair strand for some reason
If someone works in a lot of adobe programs do you think this would be an easy one to figure out? Or like other programs similar to this in general. I assume you do because of the border you made!
I had a question! At 2:20 when I click S to resize, it resizes the plane on X-axis instead of Y. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to fix it ... I could probbaly figure out a work around, but if you had a solution it would be really helpful! I even re-started the tutorial from the begininng on a new file but still had this problem so it is stressing me lol
hey I had a similar issue after duplicating the front hair strands. this is a month old so maybe you've already found a solution but in object mode next to the add button, there's an object button. you can do Object > Relations > make single user > object and data. Completely separates the duplicated object from the parent but keeps the mirror.
hii Jolinn!! when its in blender its all perfectly knit together, but when i export it to roblox studio its roots decimate and theres a bunch of holes dyk why?
@@shyamcbz maybe its your normals? sometimes when the normals arent facing the right way you wont see it correctly causing holes but im not sure what else it could be
Hi! I'm trying to make the first strand smaller with alt + s and it isn't working??!?! T_T I've tried looking it up and changing the keybinds but it changes nothing and i cant figure out how to make it thinner. Alt and other commands work fine and S by itself also worked so i don't understand if I'm doing something wrong?? Thank you sm your tutorial is wonderful and easy to understand
hiiii alt+s doesn't work on devices that aren't windows so im not sure how other keybinds would work on other brands. Other than that, im not sure what the issue could be. Sometimes the blender version could affect it but it shouldn't be changing the keybinds, sorry :(
@@JolinCookie im on windows so im not sure T_T ive been looking up fixes for the past 45 ish minutes and all i can find is that it should be working ;-;
I'm pretty new with blender, and when I press alt+S at 2:40, it just reverts the object back to the original size/spot it was before I scaled it. Ik im doing something wrong i just have no idea what it is 😭your tutorial is super helpful though
The tutorial was great, but I do have an issue with the curves. When extruding my first strand, whenever I bring the point behind the previous the whole strand flips. Is there a way to fix that?
@@JolinCookie Im not sure why it worked, but when I hit switch direction on the strand it ended up fixing it. But thank you!! Your tutorial was amazing! Also, where do you get your hair textures from?
At 11:20 when we are selecting loops, it keeps selecting the vertical vertices and bunching them together - rather than the 3 horizontal ones. Is there a way to toggle this off (or something to make it less irritating lol) or do I just have to be very careful and take my time?
i think id help if you select the edge between the verts and be careful :)) to my knowledge, theres no way to control which way it selects except for where u click on the edge
@@cuteribbons check whether you are at the beginning or end of a normal, usually the first 3 vertices would mess with the rotation and size of the strand
@@strawberryreaW im not sure but google says its related to your storage or ram so it could be that your device does y support blender since it is an high end app
2:48 when you start moving the strand mine starts to bend really weird and theres dents in it when i move it instead of it being smooth like yours but i cant figure out whats wrong with it
it could be because you are adjusting the first three vertices of the path without having it follow on an axis you can check the path beginning and end through the normals
@@JolinCookie I made a comment about this already, but mine is still doing it despite me following an axis. :') Do you by chance have a Discord server I can send an example in?
I don’t wanna be annoying, but I keep getting stuck :( there’s so many unexplained things that take me forever to find out how to do else where. I finally got to the point of “turn it into a curve” but I can’t find out how you pulled that up 😭 I would watch a dif tut, like someone said, but there’s none made recently with these updates. I’m running out of options and getting de-motivated. Please help me :( I’m willing to put in the hours, I just can’t find the information
@@ceciliachapman2703 to convert to mesh or curve, you just have to select tge object, then right click and a menu will pop up giving you the option to convert
I love how the hair turned out and your ribbon border is so cute!! 🎀 not to mention the cute pastel pink blender theme, its all very cute (。’▽’。)♡ I wish you'd go into more details during this tutorial. I'm new to blender and only know few basics. So when I was following your video I would get confused when you quickly switched between object mode and edit mode 😅 that's just one example of many other confusions... I did ended up making the hair with you but towards the end something was different with my hair compares to yours so ended up giving up 😭 Overall, very nice vid. I think your instructions were clear but it's not beginner friendly. If you have time pls make another version of this without cuts and click the buttons slowly so we noobs can see what you're clicking lol 🤦🏻♀️ I totally didn't spent the entire day yesterday trying to follow ur cute hair tutorial 💀💀 so don't be mad at me I'm just giving some feedback as big noob :p btw this was my first time making a roblox hair. it was so fun to make but something was wrong and i couldn't finish it. I also don't know how to add the texture. next time pls teach us that too. thanks ❤❤
@@rotten_eggz Hiii, your feedback was very helpful ^_^ to switch between edit n object is tab buutttt hair is definitely less beginner friendly in general. I recommend trying to make simpler objects and getting used to the program rather than trying hair off the bat of course it takes time, i would say spend an hour for a week or two getting used to the functions and maybe keybinds before attempting hair since it is more complicated :)) also our hairs dont have to look similar! everyone is different levels and have different styles, don’t give up yet!!! I have thought for a while to make a more in depth hair tutorial but it’ll still be a bit more advanced and complicated for beginners :)) im planning on other tutorials first as well since hair has a longer process
@@JolinCookie I'll definitely try to make some simpler objects for some time to get used to blender. And I wish I could show u the hair, it looks different from yours but I wasn't worried about that. My problem was at 17:11 when u select your hair it would select the entire thing but for me it would only select the right side. That's the part I wish u would told us a bit about it instead of doing cuts in the video 😭 Anyways, I enjoyed watching the tut and I subscribed as well. Pls make a beginners friendly hair tut next time. I like learning from u cuz ur videos are so cute and ur voice is very pretty. 🎀💖
