Is this setup any different for athletes who may have done indoor track, and are coming in already conditioned to a certain degree?

Great question! Yes, in that case, you can modify it. You definitely wouldn’t have the learning phase. You also might want to take a voluntary week off in between seasons. Either way, it might be a good idea to still take a step back to work on Endurance early on. The difference, though, if you could maintain some more speed work in the early season, then someone who comes into the season out of shape.
