I'd sew the binding to the back, then fold to the front and use a serpentine or decor stitch to sew it down.

Cute bibs. Use “Mini Wonder Clips” for curves and/or tight places, for they have a more pointed nose to them. I would say if your making lots of baby bibs, save those circles in making a mobile.

Jen can you one day show us newbies how to actually sew the binding on. I got the kit and had no problem putting the bibs together, but I have sewn two of the three bibs bias binding on and it looks horrible. I am afraid to do the third one.

Could vinyl or plastic be ironed on or something? My daughter has a 2 and 1/2 year old, uses plastic/vinyl bibs because they are so easy to clean. Otherwise, I just love this kit!
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
You could add a vinyl or plastic layer after you make the bibs, before you add the binding, sure! That would make these really easy to clean! - Morgan

@@ShabbyFabrics Do you think it would hold up to daily washing?
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
If you add the vinyl/plastic we'd recommend just wiping with a damp cloth. You'd want to follow the washing instructions for whatever vinyl or plastic you use (probably lay flat to dry). - Morgan

Whew! I'm so glad you didn't leave that binding joint on the curve ;)! Very good explanation. You mentioned pre-treating the fabric with a stabilizer; are you at liberty to give the product name of your favorite? And do you also pre-treat the fabric used for the binding strips? No babies in my family, but this was a fun project to watch come together. I must check out some of JT's other pre-printed batting projects.
@ShabbyFabrics
@ShabbyFabrics 5 лет назад
All of June Tailor's pre-printed batting projects have been so fun! We use Magic Sizing, which you can find at most big box stores for under $2 or $3 for a big bottle! Yes, we used it on everything including the binding strips for this project and it works beautifully. Thank you so much for watching! - Morgan

Thank you for the tutorial on these cute bibs. However, I have a comment about the pattern. The cutting instructions only have you the piece number and what size to cut the fabric - what piece of fabric to cut it from was not easily available. So I wrote out all the pieces for each bib, numbered according to the pattern and the had to look at the picture to figure it all out. It took me a day to get it all straight before O could cut. The k goodness O had the picture! Would there be a y better way June Tailor Quilts to identify this for us? I will try another of their products but if I run into the same problem, it may be my last. Again, tutorials help but not with identification and cutting. Thank you.

When doing the binding around the square corners do you continue the same as the rest of the bib or do you mitre the corners like you would on a regular quilt pattern. I was hoping that the video would show adding the binding all the way around the bib.

Hi Elizabeth, I did a quick online search and yes these are available here in the UK. It's just the printed batting and pattern. They can be bought here ladysewandsew.co.uk/shop/jt1445-baby-bibs-quilt-as-you-go/ The cost is £7.50 plus approx. £1.95 for postage. The cute fabrics are not included, but I'm sure that your fabric shop will have something suitable. If you live near Marlow in Buckinghamshire you can order online and collect at the Lady Sew and Sew Yarn and fabric shop, Moy House , Institute Road, Marlow, Bucks, SL7 1BN. If you are near Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire, order online and collect at the Lady Sew and Sew Fabric & Yarn Warehouse and Sewing Centre, Farm Road, Henley on Thames Oxon, RG9 1EJ. Happy bib making!
