After removing the grains, do a 2nd ferment with lemon peel for 1-2 hrs on your counter then place in fridge. This 2nd ferment is not sour at all...the result seems like a kind of milk soda. Super healthy for humans too!
I read somewhere that 1 spoon for dogs depending on weight, I got 2 chihuahuas I give em 1 spoon each, the lady on my local farm said I can take only 2 spoons a day since it's very powerful as healthy for the gut,
Yes, as long as you don’t starve them (store them without milk to feed on). If you are going to be away, follow her advice in the video for freezing them. Then when u return, thaw them and start all over again.
Thank you for replying to my earlier question. I bought a starter kit and I'm not having much luck. I cut in half the 4 cups of milk to a full packet of kefir powder. I used 2 cups of whole pasturizedmilk to 1/2 packet if Kefir. Directions say to boil the milk, I tried both ways. I understand not to use a metal spoon. does the size of the jar matter, air space? 73 degree house. Thank you.
You can try using a jar with a wider opening, or even a bowl for better air flow. Your house should be plenty warm enough. Maybe try even less milk? Sometimes it can take a few batches to really get a new culture running in full force.
Theoretically it should be fine, the culture should break down the lactose. To be safe, I would probably start with very small amounts and see how your dog does.
