Hello, I tried this and I was very good. Thank you! I’m Korean born abroad. I was far away from my mom for almost 20 years and now she passed away so finding channels like yours helped me learn to cook Korean food for my husband and his family. Looking forward to more recipes!
This made me so sad and happy too !! Ancestral and culture connections are so important, on my mothers side of the family my grandfather was Chinese but raised in Jamaica and so was my mother. We had a mix of Chinese/Jamaican culture. He has passed now and I will try and keep his Chinese roots alive when I have a family one day x
Not everybody has all the ingredients available all the time, so I love how you suggest alternatives which by the way work very well. Thank you for this wonderful recipe.
The recipe & way you showed & explained it was so simple & easy to understand!! As someone who only recently got into cooking in adulthood, I find there’s a massive learning curve when it comes to stuff like chicken. I know it’s ridiculous but I need all the help I can get 😅 I appreciate this so much ❤
Was in the US Army, and served 2 tours in Korea, from 2008-2009, and 2011-2012. First tour was at Camp Humphries, 2nd tour at Camp Casey. Fell in love with the food when I was there, but haven't been able to get it since. Been finding cooking videos on RU-vid and been trying to make it myself. Already planning to make Kimchi Jiggae, and now this will be put on the list. Still need to make daekochi
I tried the recipe and it was delicious!!!! My wife said it tastes like it’s from a restaurant. Thank you so much. I spent about $55 on all the ingredients. Minus salt and pepper. It was worth it. Plus now all I have to do is buy more chicken and I can make as much sauce as I want.
This is THE BEST korean fried chicken recipe I have found online. It will be my go to recipe forever! :D Thank you so much, I made this for my family and they loved it so much.
Thank you for sharing this recipe and being so kind to let us know about alternative ingredients that we can use if we don't have access to ingredients from the original recipe! I had this at the Korean restaurant last night and absolutely loved it! Looking forward to mastering this dish at home!
I am so happy to see you have a you tube channel! I found you online looking for some Korean recipes and discovered you that way…It was a nice surprise to find you on the tube! Love all the recipes I’ve tried online and find you are more “authentic” to the recipes I’ve tried from others! I’m a big fan!
Hi....juz saw ur recipe & i immediately tried today...it turn out to be a hit with my husband & kids...they love it,i put everything except for the wine coz we are muslim ...but still it is super yummy delicious!!! Loving you from Malaysia ❤️
So glad I came across this channel I recently gave up red meat for a few months for 2022 so I'm looking for different recipes. And Korean food 🤤has been one of my favorites for a long time.
Made this for the first time today after re-reading and rewatching this video a bunch. My husband LOVED it! I made some chicken without the sauce for my kids and they loved it as well. Your recipe was really helpful and well thought out - especially when it came to checking the oil temperature without a thermometer! Thank you so much for sharing! I know I'll definitely be making Korean fried chicken more at home!
In 1995 I spent 6 months in Seoul and got to know this dish as Pelikana Chicken. I’ve been looking for that sauce ever since, and her you show me how to make it. THANK YOU 🙏
Hi, I just started to follow your channel, I had discovered your blog with your recipes and I'm enchanted for your teachings! You make everything looks so easy and make me wanna try to put my hands on 🤗. I have started with your Kimchi recipe and I came very proud of myself because I achieve the taste I'm was expecting so now I'm waiting for the next 3 weeks to find out how it evolves. Now I'm going to try this recipe that looks very tasty! Thank you for sharing your amazing knowledge in a so warm way. Wake me feel part of your family. Please continue to amaze us with this delicious foods from beautiful and rich Korean culture! 감사
My name is Karthik. I am watching from India While studying engineering I learned cooking, and really enjoy cooking. this is authentic recipe, some Indian chefs are skipping corn syrup, and vinegars. And they are showing their own version of gochujang with rice flour and chilli. Gochujang must be a fermented sauce. I haven't eaten Korean fried chicken but I have seen a lot of videos related to Korean street fried chickens. I hade seen thick, transparwnt gel type liquid in those videos. Here I got to know about that (Corn syrup). I am a fig fan of Hyun Bin. My favorite is "Crash landing on you" One more thing is - Marriage of Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin made me really happy ❤❤❤.
I made this right now and I'm very inexperienced when it comes to cooking, I didn't have half of the ingredients since where I live its very hard to get korean stuff... I eyeballed most the stuff and just put everything in that I thought would go well and it was amazing. I will be doing it again. I loved it so much. And if I was able to make it tasty than anyone can really. Great recipe.
안녕하세요 from Norway! This was absolutely fantastic! Actually first time i try home made deep fried chicken! Easy step by step recipe, and the substitute ingredients alternativ is a must!! Loved it!
I know this is one of your older videos but I have always enjoyed cooking (grew up in a family of home chefs and great foods inspired by our family of friends who come from different countries around the world ~Japanese, Portuguese, Cuban, Italian, etc) I mainly grew up learning to cook Japanese dishes from a woman who is like a second mom to me😂Asako, so I'm familiar with a lot of things like Dashi stock and how to make a lot of different broths. But recently within this last couple of years (before the explosion of popularity Americans now have of everything Korean) I had begun cooking a lot of Korean dishes and building my flavor/spice pantry so I have many cooking ingredients readily available for each recipe. I just want to thank you for your channel and recipes that you share. It has really gone a long way in my learning how to make new flavorful healthy dishes for my family (who love everything I have made from your recipes by the way). So thank you for helping me look like a Michelin chef on Korean dishes!! I'm really enjoying making everything.. Blessings and thank you for always sharing your lovely foods with all of us "out here." 💞💞
Oh thank you for sharing sis❤ I'm going to try for my Eid event. My kids will love it. They says that Korean friend bring for their lunch. But my kids never want it try bcoz we are Muslim. So it's a good source to give it a try so kids will have the taste too😊❤❤❤
Good day/ evening 🫶🏻thank you so much for this recipe i tired it and my family lived it! Now i make it every time i get a chance and its so quick to make your recipes always come out delicious ❤🫶🏻
I traveled to Seoul 2 years ago and had Dakgangjeong for the first time. It was the best chicken I have ever had. I have tried other recipes and most seem to be too sweet. Yours seems to have the perfect color. I used honey because I didn’t have syrup but I had trouble getting the sauce to thicken. Any recommendations? I bought rice syrup for when I make it again :) Update so I just finished the first batch. I like to make extra for left overs :). The first batch I was able to get sauce to thicken a little. This tastes just like it did in Seoul. Fantastic recipe. The tip about marinating in milk really made a huge difference. But yeah my only question is how to get the sauce to thicken to make a proper glaze. Again thank you so much. Great recipe!!!
Great it turned out well for you! "This tastes just like it did in Seoul" is the best compliment! Thank you so much! You can try to simmer it a little longer, but you don't want to make the sauce too thick while in the pan. When it's nicely bubbled up, it should be done even if it looks slightly thin. And you'll heat it up again when the chicken is fried up. Hope this helps.
I tried this for my Korean boyfriend who hasn’t been in Korea for a long time, he really liked it!! Unfortunately I didn’t have corn starch so I used flour instead and my chicken wasn’t crispy at all🥲 will use that next time !
Tried it out. Turned out perfect! Only thing I would change is the amount of sugar, turned out a bit like candied fried chicken, especially when it started to cool down. Other than that, great taste and flavor, would definitely make again!
I subscribe to your newsletters, Hyosun-ssi, but I just started watching your videos. I like your conduct. I also appreciate when you pronounce the dishes in your native language. This helps me to learn the Korean language AND how to cook your wonderful foods. Thank you ! 감사합니다

Hey, so thank you for uploading this recipe. The chicken was delicious. If I may, I'd like to recommend you try adding chipotle peppers to the sauce if you really want to spice it up.

Great video with top recipe and tips❤. I lived in Seoul for 20 years and really missed European food. Now we're back in Europe, of course I really miss Korean food 😅. Luckily, I have a Korean wife, so I never have to go too long. This week I'm having a party for my friends and, as always, the Korean dishes will be the stars of the show. This recipe will be the first on the table ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for this recipe, I tried it today, and it was very delicius even with different kind of ingredients that not everyone can buy that cheaply, so it is defenetly a useful and good recipe ^^
