Hello again everyone, today we’ll be making some simple, elegant and lather rich olive oil soap. This is a private label soap I make for a Lebanese restaurant in Melbourne located in the beautiful suburb of Brunswick. Lebanese olive oil soap is a staple in our culture, and not many people make it here in Australia. Lucky for us we can buy it from a wholesaler here, which comes straight from northern Lebanon, the olive trees date back at least 5000 years in the region and are native and prized for their delicious taste and excellent conditioning benefits to the skin

Beautiful ingredients, beautiful soap. My castile always seems to get a partial gel, they do fade out mostly but even if they didn't I still think it's beautiful soap.

Thanks Cass. It is nice indeed. Pure olive oil makes a great gentle soap. Can feel a little soft and slimy with very little lather nevertheless a beautiful gentle soap 🙏🙏🙏

Hello George, beautiful video with detailed information. Can i use olive pomace instead of extra virgin olive oil ? If yes, what SF do i have to use? Do i need to add sugar as lather booster?

Thanks for the comment Rajameena, You most certainly can use pomace, and leave the superfat as is, no need to change. It will always benefit from having sugar and salt to help with firmness and lather 🙏

Thanks Zouhra, you definitely can. The only difference will be using KOH (potassium hydroxide) over NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) 🙏

Thanks Shweta. The lye calculator will tell you how much of each. The lye amount won't change based on your water, only superfat will change required lye for this recipe 🙏

And when I add 3% sugar solution this would be over and above the total water amount used for the lye, yes? Thanks again George 🙏🏼

I see, yeah using lower water amount helps with higher olive oil soaps. 22% water is good, which is 220g of water per 1000g (1kg) of oil www.dawnorganics.com.au/blogs/posts/faq-regarding-soap-additives This link will help, talks about additives and when to add them with percentages. Additives are always added based on the percentages of oils in your recipe. Always make sure there is more water in grams than lye + other additives you are dissolving in the water 🙏

@@DawnOrganics I was researching a natural treatment for my son with tinea versicolor and found laurel berry oil. It was very expensive to buy here in USA, but he's my son and that's what moms do! I started off making body butter with it. Unfortunately if you don't use the body butter, it doesn't work (boys). This led me to soap making. I watched many Aleppo soap videos, but due to the cost, the quantity of laurel berry oil in their recipe was usually only 20%. True Aleppo with all the benefits is supposed to be olive oil and laurel berry each at 50%. I did find one video where 50% was used. It was the first soap I made. While I waited a year for it to cure, I found you and Elly! Between the two of you, I have learned SO much! When I find the video, I'll let you know.

It is also very expensive here, 50% would be costly but worth it if it's going to help with the skin issues. Sounds like a lovely bar though, definitely a year is a long time (I'd be way to inpatient I'd use after a week or two for myself haha) How was it? I assume you used it? What gives it the green color. I have bought olive oil soap and it is usually white. Did you mention that you add 3% clay? What is the benefit of that and what type clay do you use? What is the benefit of sodium lactate? Do you add the citric acid into the lye solution?

Greetings Fouzi, thanks for watching. Extra virgin olive oil is always on the green side, it can vary how dark it is based on region, season and batch also. They usually turn white, some are off white or a beige colour. Hey George, quick question when adding 0.7% vitamin e oil in soap recipe wouldn’t that be over the 100% mark that your recipe should add up to…. How are you able to go above the 100% please explain

Hi there. It's considered an additive so it's calculated like fragrances and other inputs. It's not calculated with a SAP value 🙏

I'm sure that soap will be wonderful for the skin. I'm surprised the color isn't darker, considering how green the olive oil was.

Thanks Elaine. It's super gentle, safe for all ages and skin types. It does go pretty white over time, it will lighten a few shades more over the coming weeks. The region where the oil is from determines how dark, I find this oil goes quite light as it cures. Also can vary depending on batch and season also 🙏🙏🙏

Hello, sorry I don't provide that information, I always recommend running the recipe through the Lye calculator yourself to avoid any errors. You can select grams there, and use percentages of each oil like displayed in the description. It's very important to never use a recipe without running it through lyecalc first, Hope you understand 🙏
