This video was released a long time ago, but it still helps a TON! I'm watching it for the first time in 2024! I could figure out how to make normal music in mario maker, but I had no chance of figuring out looping music. Thank you so much for making tutorials on that kind of stuff!

Probably worth mentioning that the instant load mechanism not only allows for 40bpm and 80bpm to the quarter, but you can get creative with the rhythms and have even more. If you assign each note block to an eighth note in a bar of 6 (ONE two three FOUR five six) you can have that swung tempo feeling. Pretty niche but still cool. Great video!

I know these tricks helped me a lot when I made my first looping music level. Thanks for your hard work Loup!

if you want to match cheetah autoscroll, load the winged noteblocks at white lava lift speed while placing them in the same order and spacing as you'd place them in cheetah autoscroll

I always have used the format of music block, cloud block/semisolid, and instrument unit.

I only have music in my final level of my world and I used a tutorial but I will need to keep this in mind for Mario Maker 3.

I just copy and paste the music block positions from the midi file website into the placement in Mario Maker.

3:40 minor desync with the middle noteblock that gets a boost after landing and being launched a second time :) 14:26 shown set-up creates alot of noticeable desyncs with the noteblocks

The setups I show are not 100% exact. There will be very slight desync (1-2 frames) depending on corners etc. However, these issues aren't a huge deal because they are in the synchronizing track and not in the loop track. If the desync is in the loop track, the whole song will become garbo after a few loops. However, the synchronizing tracks are a one-time inaccuracy that doesn't get worse. You'll need zenmai's method for frame-perfect synchronizing tracks, but people won't notice the difference. Small inaccuracies will cause problems with chords, which I legit forgot to mention. tl;dr It is different, but you don't need frame-perfect music (most of the time)

I'm trying to make a looping music level, but I'm having trouble with the loop. I want to make a loop that can play notes at around 140 bpm, but I can't figure out how many CU I need to get the loop right. Is there any sort of equation or formula that can determine a good amount of CU to fit certain BPMs?

I believe the linked reddit guide (see description) has a formula and table for my general horizontal algorithm. Alternatively, you could see Music Maestro by uncaughtcursor, which uses a different algorithm. The looping music generator did not exist at the time I made this video.

I know I'm in the minority in terms of opinions about this video, but I just didn't understand it at all. It just seemed like a bunch of unrelated concepts being spat out at me with terminology I didn't understand. Even when I understand how music levels are made in Mario Maker, I still don't get it.

Sorry about that. I tried, but it’s just a difficult topic.

The video isn't nice < niais < nescius := not-skilled but you are. That's clockwise. long -> fore; length -> span; can't say Geitje; fast, quickly -> swift[ly]; will -> shall; larger -> greater; slower -> slowlier; faster -> swiftlier; thin -> narrow, slim; fat -> wide, broad; weird -> uncanny; hard -> touh; not guys, gaf
