I'm really glad to hear everyone who says how much my video helped! And I've played(and hearted) all of the music levels posted so if this this video helped you make a music level, post the ID here and I'll give it a play and heart. But only auto music levels, I don't have time to please and beat everyone's level if they aren't auto. I'll heart your comment when I've played and hearted the level
Hey Danny, this video was incredibly helpful, thanks a ton buddy! I made a level, it's the 1st Mario Maker level I've ever, so there are probably numerous ways I could improve. I wish the item/enemy limit was higher, the levels were longer and the scale of pitch went higher and lower. I guess I just have to make do. My level code is TY8-B4Y-6QG. Thanks again!!!
Hi, thank you for this tutorial. If you make an other one, could you explain how it works in vertical sub areas. For example, creating a music during a free fall could be interesting. Bye
Hi Danny, thanks for your tutorial and for playing my first level \m/ I'm currently planning to do a musical one, but for now if you or anybody else would try my new level that would be great. Its code is *424 GJX XSG*. Any critics are welcome, share your thoughts ;) Cheers
When I made my music level a couple weeks ago, it took a couple hours and A LOT of trial and error. This vid helps a lot for people wanting to build their own music level cause TRUST ME, it’s so much easier with a tutorial
Really good video. It will help a lot of people. Here some extra tips: Use sound effects for beats or other effects in the song Use doors and pipes to repeat or extend the song Use custom scroll for different speeds Focus on design to get more likes If you use auto scroll and you have enough space you can make a little jump'n run challenge for Mario to also get more likes Most importantly you should make levels of songs that people know like pop-muisc or Nintendo soundtracks
All i want to know is how to make note blocks actually sound like notes Cause it doesnt work the way shown in this video No matter where you place them, or what you use to bounce on them they will always make the same sound
Desdinova Eternal light No, they make different sounds. Just make sure, you're not using the standard white note block. You need to press and hold on the note block to change it to a music note block.
There was one thing I saw that you missed out. A POW block is great for a beat, and usually a combination of some POWS and P-Switches is amazing for making great beats.
Thank you for making this tutorial. I am planning on making a PacMan level whenever I get Super Mario Maker 2 for my birthday, this coming Saturday, and this will help me try and make the PAC-Man theme. This was very detailed as well. Good work
I know how to make music, but I don't know how to do that thing with the on/off blocks that makes it possible to go into a room twice but hear different music.
I knew music levels were very hard to make but after watching this video I'm just amazed at the talent that goes into a mario maker music level. Hats off to creators like COM_POSER!!!
Oh my god I wanted to do this ever since I heard one!! My sister found one that was Thriller by MJ (I really like him) and she said "Sis! You're going to like this!!" I thought it sounded AWESOME. I wanted to make one but it was her switch day and we take turns using the Switch. Plus it looked WAY too complicated. So I did some research and after watching this, it dosent sound so hard! Sorry for this long comment oh and btw this all happened today. So tomorow I will make a music level (its of the original pokemon theme, I play pokemon sword and watch pokemon) and will make sure to send it to you. Good thing I know about octaves and such since I've played piano since I was 8 (I'm 13)! Sorry for blabbering, all I can say is, thank you!!!
This is something I've wanted to do and now I can try it out, I'll post a music level here when I finish it, also I know you wanted to keep it basic but 5ths and minor/major 3rds could also be used as a substitute for an octave (adding a 5th and a 3rd together might be a bit challenging given spacing).
Thanks Danny! This was full of clear, precise scenarios and instructions. I had trouble finding out how to turn a normal music block into a melodic one. I caught a glimpse here and now I'm ready to rock and/or roll. I'll share soon.
thanks for the nice words, I'm really glad it helped! I was surprised to find that there weren't any other clearly organized music level tutorial videos
A great tutorial! I’m planning to transcribe Etrian Odyssey music into Mario Maker, I may post the codes when I’ve got the first one done! (It’ll be “Initial Strike” from Etrian Odyssey 1, go look it up the games have great music)
Thanks a lot for the video, I used it to make my first music level: Lost in the "Lost Woods" [OoT] ID: P6D-K11-8KG The song is Saria's Song from Ocarina of Time + a little bit of platforming.
Thanks! This helped me a lot! I didn't know how to silence the level and the section that showed me all the different sounds was a big time saver! I would however like to point out that the 4 tile spacing tip you provided is not at all legitimate. The tile layout does not correlate to a song at all unless you have the perfect bpm and side scroll to match the original. It's all time based and the spacing is completely unrelated to actual sheet music. For example, a song I'm making in mario maker right now is in the standard 4/4 time signature but in order to time it correctly the bass hits are 13 spaces apart.
I was going to search something like this, but you did it! I plan on doing something like just dance, where you nerd to jump on certain parts to not die :D
Thanks to this video I made my first (and probably last) music level which in my not so humble opinion is not too shabby if I may shamelessly say so myself. 😀
Thanks a lot this is an awsome tutorial! I really like the graph of the notes you made this is the main thing I need so thanks for the great showcase! 🤘
Scatman : H7W - 4DV - 1QF The moon (From Ducktales) : 6JQ - 4TB - NGG Hi DannyB ! I made some music levels before to see this video but thank you so much, i learn some new cool things
Awesome video! Really helpful and easy to follow. As the basics weren’t too difficult I wanted to give it a go. Naturally, the best song to start with was Master of Puppets by Metallica. Here’s the level: XK6-B06-M5G
Great video! You definitely had a couple things in there I hadn't considered (like conveyors at different walking speeds). I like your contraption for playing the note at the highest screen position, I couldn't figure out how to do it and it may well come in handy at some point. I pretty much only make music courses, and most of mine require you to do something to clear them, but none of them are hard. I have a couple auto ones that you may enjoy: R6F-LV3-TQG RSN-98V-1RF If you like those and are feeling adventurous, try out some of my others!
Holy fucking shit! Making these music levels must take hours to make! I could never have had the patience to make a music level. Kudos to those that do!
Me watching and hearing him say: "A music note is triggered by something bouncing on it" Me: *places a music block, and an enemy above it to bounce, pressed play* Music block: *doesn’t do a music note sound, does a like spring-ish noise* So... I couldn't for the life of me figured out why it wasn't making a music noise! THEN I finally figured it out!! What the video doesn’t state is the music block MUST be the orange variation. I didn't know this till I clicked and held the block and saw it had different viariations lol. White music block - basic jumping spring-ish noise, the sound of it won't change no matter where it's put or what enemy is jumping on it! Orange music block - Musical note noise, sound of it changes with placement/enemy!
I really liked this video. Ever since Mario Maker 1 I played the music levels and wondered how they worked. It's so cool now that I know how to make one myself.
I learned so much! thank you for this video! Now that I know how this works, I am going to try to put The Imperial March from Star Wars into a my Mario Maker level!
Hello everyone here is my most recent and probably last music level at least for a little while, this was the hardest music level I had to do as the notes weren't right till the last few days before I released the course lol it's the song "All I want for Christmas is you" hope you all enjoy it and I wish you all a merry christmas and happy holidays :) Title: All I want for Christmas Walk ID: 82X-NPD-8MF Description: Thank you for all the support on my levels, I'll see you all next year :)
@@DannyBPlays Thanks Danny glad you enjoyed my course like I said was definitely my hardest music course i had done it took way longer than I thought I would especially with already having experience with making music courses lol
Thanks my man! Very pinched for money atm so I thought fck it and decided to recreate me and my girl’s song on a SMM2 level for our anniversary (we’re both gamers so I thought it’d be a nice idea). You are a time saver bc I was just staring at my screen completely overwhelmed and confused so THANK YOU
15:08 : watch out! Notice how the second highest hamer bro played its note twice! This is because when, right above it, the P swich makes the pink note block go down, it stop's the hamer bro from getting on to the cloud the first time
Yeah I may do a part 2 with more advanced things like loops and more advanced moves. I'm not sure what you're asking about with the letters and numbers
@@DannyBPlays I'm sorry, hum... I don't know how can I say that differently x) What should I type to find the music "sheet"? For example the one you used in your video.
I would say to google the name of the song and then "music notes" with it. But the one I searched for was a very basic song so you probably won't find that for more complex songs. If you can read sheet music then you could do it for almost any song. There is also the possibility of listening to each note of the song slowly on youtube and finding the matching note in the game, but that takes much longer
I once got asked if I could make a music level back when SMM1 was popular. I replied that I had no idea how to. Now here we are. As of the time of writing, we are a month away from SMM1's fourth anniversary. It's high time I did a music level, as I now know how to.
I love how you made Mary had a Little Lamb! I copied what you did because I like how you did it! Anyway, thanks again for this walkthrough and keep it up. By the way, I really like how you did the goombas. I did the hammer bros
I've had many requests for that so I think I definitely will make one in the future. I just need to plan out the various techniques that I will go over
