This reminds me of my little nephew asking his mom for some "orange rice". We're not Mexican but my nephew was being looked after by a Mexican family while my sister and her husband work. Since the pandemic he hasn't been able to go to their house so he asked his mom to make this. He complained to his mom that it's not the same. I'll be sure to share this video with my sister so she can make this for her son and hopefully my nephew will like it.
♥️And the farmworkers!!! We are 110ºF+ in SoCal, Coachella Valley and our farmworkers are out there in the humidity and heat. Gracias por darnos de comer! Orgullo Hispano!
I just got done making the Instant-pot rice recipe! “Views On the Road Queens” Lady’s let me tell I’m in love. This rice tasted exactly like my auntie rice! She has severe dementia so trying to ask for the recipe... Is impossible when I first tried this rice. I cried because it tastes just like hers. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. Now I have it and I will keep it closed to my hear!!! 😊
My mom is from Jalisco and she taught me to fry my tomato or tomato sauce with the rice, chuck of onion and whole garlic. She doesn’t dice the onion nor mince the garlic but she quarters the onion and adds one piece with a whole garlic while frying then once the rice was done she removes the onion and garlic. We were raised with killing our own chickens, so she always used fresh chicken broth. Sometimes she adds frozen/defrosted carrots and peas, I suppose to give us veggies. Perfect delish rice every time. Thanks ladies!
I don’t think your abrupt at all. I love your channel. I miss my Southern California/ Mexican food. I have enjoyed your recipes/videos, o so much. I’m very thankful. Love you and Cloud !!
I am so glad I found your channel! I love authentic mexican food and now I can learn to cook it at home. I am Puerto Rican that enjoys trying different cuisine and I enjoy your humor when cooking delicious meals. Keep up the great great work
I grew up making my Spanish rice on the stovetop .still make it that way.the way my Dad,Abuela and my Tia taught me and.I taught my. daughters. Best way to make it.
Late night watcher here! Why am I barely finding this channel!!!?!?! So glad It was in my feed! I am so thrilled to see this video because I stopped trying to make Mexican/Spanish style rice. Thank you!
jackie bessard Im sorry i dont think I’ve never had that in restaurants. Are you sure it was mexican rice? Mexican rice is typically like this but orange bc of the tomato. Perhaps try using this same recipe but with brown rice?
I have never cooked rice uncovered... Very interesting. I always turn the heat off for the last 5 minutes of cooking and let the steam finish cooking my rice (while covered). Thank you for sharing all your amazing recipes ladies!
I don't think she cooked it uncovered. I think she just didn't show that part. Her other rice video she linked in the description shows her cooking it with a lid on.
I do the same but add diced green chiles and stewed tomatoes in before I add the liquid(on the Stove top). I do two liquids to one portion of rice. I use El Pato hot tomato sauce as part of my liquid. This recipe was taught to me by my dad. It is a recipe that has been at the Yuma Fire Department for more than 50 years. Great every time we have it. Thanks for sharing.
Finally someone who cooks rice like me (and my mom)! Thank you for the Instant Pot recipes. I just bought mine, made the carnitas recipe and feel like my life is changed. 🙂
One of the biggest problems I have is making rice. Either I cook it too long or not long enough or I season it too much or too little. This recipe is definitely going to make me give it another shot. Love you ladies! Thanks for sharing your amazing recipes! ❤️❤️❤️
Tip* After you add your liquid, sprinkle your spices in and taste it before it starts to boil. If you like the taste , then finish your process. ( I don’t measure my spices, LOL)
I need this in my life. I am about to make this for breakfast. I craved this so much when I was pregnant. My military town does not have anything worth glancing at. Your channel helped me so much with my cravings.
Gracias por recetas y Que Bonita personalida tiene tu y tu hetmanita me siento tan agusto y contenta Ami me ayudan bastante Dios me Las Bendiga y a su Mami y sus fam. Maria/Albuquerque, New Mexico/ keep them coming
I am a sopa de arroz lover so I can really appreciate your versatile ways of making it. I personally love peas and carrots in my rice. Thank you and Cloud for doing such a great video. It helps to know that you can cook this rice in an instant pot or pressure cooker like I had in the 70's. This pot is much easier to use and has more options. I have been cooking Mexican food for 51 years and I still enjoy learning new techniques. You guys rock!
Thanks for this recipe, Steph! I’m Afrolatina and the difference in Puerto Rican rice and Mexican rice is subtle, but it counts. I’ve tried making Mexican rice or Sopa de Arroz a few times before and it just didn’t work for me. Your recipe helped! The broth AND bouillon definitely made the difference this time. So good! Gracias, mamichula!
Finally! Thank you for the tips! I can now say my rice is right! I think your tip about letting your rice dry, using less than 2 to 1 water, and browning it well was key. Gracias amigas!
The best tutorial for this kind of rice by far 🙌🏼, you’re so patient and explain everything very clear by showing us step by step.. I appreciate this so much. Thank you!
I want to say a HUGE thank you for your videos, I really love learning authentic Mexican cooking from you and you make it fun and easy! I have enjoyed making several of your recipes and every one of them have been a hit with my family! We especially love the banter between you and your sister and obviously you are a great fighter as well :) Take care and God bless!
I love watching you cook. I love the laughter you and your sister share with us the audience. I believe you should have your own cooking show, I would definitely watch and take notes. I can't get over all the food you make, I never learned to cook, so now that i'm much older, I get to cook on my terms. Thank you for sharing your recipes and allowing us to be take part in your history of cooking. Thanks again, and God bless!
I am Puerto Rican and I do love Mexican food also so some of my food is combined styles. I also have Asian friends who I learned alot from so some times I combine all 3 styles. So I rinse my Rice 3 times in a big bowl with cold water. So each time I just pour the water out carefully so the rice stays in the bowl. Now I fill the bowl up with cold water up to the first line of my finger and stop. Now I put it aside for 1 hour soaking. Now in the Rice pot I put oil to fry chicken on Thighs or drum sticks. Place the chicken in the oil and put adobo, cumin and Sazón with 3 caps of vinegar and rub into chicken well. Then Fry the chicken completely done then take chicken out to cool onto a plate. Now in same pot saute on medium high 1 diced onion and 2 diced Jalapeños and 4 garlic cloves till it is nice and brown. Now take all the chicken off the bone and add to the pot mixing all ingredients together. Then add your rice and the water it was in. 1 can of diced tomatoes and my favorite 1 can of Goya Roman Beans it is a higher level then Pinto beans. You add a hand full of cilantro 2 packs of Sazón con achiote then last add Adobo in a circle according to how many cups of rice. I cook 6 cups at a time so go around 6 times with the Adobo upside down then when you reach the 6th time throw a sprinkle in the center of the pot for good luck. Mix all ingredients again and let it come to a boil mixing again and cover do not touch the top for 30 min. Buen Provecho You will love it eat it with cheese and Jalapeños melted in a Tortilla rolled up
I just followed this recipe and it is the best Mexican rice ive ever made! The insta pot takes the guess out of how low to simmer the rice! Thanks for sharing love you!
I was thinking on what to cook for dinner and your rice recipe came just in time. Looks delish! I understand how busy you must be with the kids especially it’s summer vacation etc., take care and I’ll be patiently waiting for your recipes. Thank you always.
Homeschooling takes a lot of preparing and time management around the house. It’s really inspiring how you manage a RU-vid channel plus a busy household as well. After seeing several of your videos and especially with your adorable children I just got hooked on your channel. Oh yeah the new school year starts around September on the States. It definitely is a busy time for your family.
What a helpful video! My husband told me tonight he doesn't like my Mexican rice because it's too "wet". Thank you for your your clear instructions. I will try both versions!!
Looks wonderful! When I was young (long ago) all the women just added a can of Ro-Tel tomatoes. I guess still an option but I'd rather not today. Thanks so much for showing me the way without rotel.
Can't believe I've lived in South Texas my whole life and have never made Spanish Rice even though I LOVE it!! But now, thanks to you, I feel very confident about doing it. Have you made a video on refried beans?? Love Spanish rice and refried beans - frijoles! Did I spell that right?? - Yup! You already did - I must have missed that one - going back to that vid to watch!! Love y'all! Thanks for sharing your family love and heritage! God bless!
I have no family and live alone. Without your videos I would have starved to death with a cupboard full of ingredients. I'm an old Native American so thank you.
Great basic starter recipe as she calls it. Such a versatile dish. With my rice, green bell pepper sautéed in with the onion and garlic sets it off. Also comino (cumin), a little powdered garlic and powdered onion (I use both fresh and powdered) in with the chicken or tomato chk bouillon. Sometimes I like to add corn or small chunks of carrot, just depends how I'm feeling.
I tried the Mexican rice in the Insta Pot yesterday and it came out perfect. I never know what settings to use and the pot mostly sits there unused. I don’t consider myself a cook, but truly enjoy your channel! Keep up the inspiring work!!
I love your channel! There are so many videos that just don't know! I grew up in Rosarito, Baja California and if it's not right, I'd rather not eat it! I live in San Antonio, Texas now and the Mexican food here is slightly different than what I'm used to! Thank You!
Making for breakfast.. looks great thank you for the way you make it simple. Your a great teacher to us all. T.Y. And God bless you and your family sister.
Steph, a big THANK YOU to you for fulfilling my unspoken wish for Mexican rice! I have made it so many times but always hanker for the Mexican subtle spice flavors!😍😘 Bless you and Cloud & your families!
My grandmother made such delicious rice (she always called it sopa). Question - you don't cover it? I enjoy your channel so much. Keeping my Mexican heritage alive through cooking (or trying at least!).
Stephane I just want to take some time to tell you thank you too you and your sister for the wonderful Recipes I have been making a lot of your different foods and I appreciate everything that I have learned from them they are all delicious and I am so proud to say I have become better cook
Another FIRE recipe! I usually make my Spanish rice on the stove but decided to give it a try in my IP. I used a Roma tomato onions garlic and chicken flavor blended it all up like a soup and never in my LIFE have I Mastered 1 cup of rice like this before! I usually have to make minimum 2 cups to really get it right. My husbands jaw dropped and said it was the best rice I EVER made him. I shined like a rockstar. Thanks Chicas!😘
Hello ladies. Your rice looks devine. When i cook my rice i add a few more tablespoons of oil. I use chicken and tomato bouillon cubes and add a little bit of salt, garlic, and cumin. It comes out pretty good.
So I made all of this and made quinoa in my instant pot. I have braces and this is bomb in a bowl with no tostada. Ladies y’all did an amazing job with this recipe I am going to keep it for my kids to hand it down to them when they have their own place. I love you ladies your lifesavers with la comeda muy buena. 🤤🤤🤤🤤🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🥰🥰🥰🥰 P.s. my kids loved it without the spicy
It’s nice to see other people’s own way of making rice I learned a few diff ways to make it and this one looks simple and yummy might try it too! I normally make mine with 2 fresh tomatoes half an onion and one garlic piece throw it in the blender with a little bit of water and blend add that to the rice after toasting in oil then add 2 cups of chicken broth and on top of that add a little of chicken bunion and the tomato bunion to give it a more red color :)
Love your videos, you can see the love mixed with family tradition when you cook and your banter with your sis. Keep up the great work. You look amazing too! ;)
I have tried so many different versions of mexican rice. This is the very best I have ever had. Was super delicious. Just found your channel and loving it.
Thank you! I ended up doing the stove top version but adding a fresh diced Roma, and 4 Oz tomato sauce (2 Oz pato yellow can, and 2 Oz hunts) gave it the perfect flavor. First time ever making mexican rice.
Thank you for your recipe of Arroz Mexicano. Your instructions were clear and easy to follow. You can bet that this will be something that I will make (and eat) tomorrow.😋👍
Ladies!!! Let me start off by saying y’all are Mexican food God’s! 🙌🏼 although I’m your typical “guera” 😆 I was born and raised in a border town (Yuma, Arizona) literally 5-10 minutes from the Sonoran Mexico border so I know real authentic Mexican food- We moved to Texas in 2015 and they don’t know Mexican food to save their lives!!! 🤮🤮 Y’all’s videos give me absolute life & comfort. I made this rice last night AND YES!!!! So much yes!!! I binge watched your channel the other night and I will be making SOOOOO many of your dishes. Thank you for being my home away from home hermanas. 😁❤️💚
I have eaten Mexican rice in restaurants and wondered what the ingredients was for the rice and your recipes does look nice. My mother was not able to make rice correctly and turned me against it until I went to Thailand while in the military and learned that there was other ways to make rice.
