Now that I think of it. It's extremely easy to find vintage looking pieces nowadays. A long skirt with a puffy bloused cardigan and collar shirt, ponytail with a bow and Voila! Princess like vintage look 🤩
You kinda look a bit like Shirley Temple when she was a teenager/young adult. I do enjoy watching your videos. It helps me to learn more about vintage styles.
As someone who has just started dressing vintage, it's so inspiring to see tips like this! You're so beautiful and wonderful and I love your videos so much!! Greetings from Canada!
@@sarahdewalt5433 Oh sorry to hear that. But if you're comfortable with online orders, Simons has a great customer service (exchange and refund in 30 days, 45 if you have the card) and usually fits through to size. Hope this helps. There's several Canadian shops I'm coming across recently if you need hints.
I’m old (61) so, “Vintage” probably means something different to me, than it does to you. I just stumbled across your Channel and I’m so delighted! This is only the sixth video of yours I’m watching. (All in a row. 😊) I adore Vintage style clothing from the 1940’s especially! The Blueish/Teal Coat you’re wearing is not really a “Swing” Coat, although you look adorable in it. It just isn’t wide enough at the bottom. To make a Coat look “Vintage” try shortening the sleeves about 5” or 6” above your wrist. Then don a pair of Elbow Length Gloves. Perhaps with a Bracelet. My Aunt bequeathed me her Jewelry collection when she passed away, several of the bracelets had extra links, I had no idea why... Apparently, you can add the extra links, so you can wear the bracelet over your gloves. ♥️👍🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yep. Overalls were a thing in the '70s too. My mom would wear them to school with just a bra underneath and be like, "What, I'm following the two finger rule!"
Overalls were a thing in the 90’s (at least in Southern California) and are semi returning and I’m alllll over that! I’m spearheading that movement and disregarding the rule: “If you were old enough to wear it the first time it was trendy, you’re too old to wear it when it’s trendy again.” Nope, don’t care, it looks cute and they are comfy!!!! I do wear a shirt under mine though 😉 I just had major spinal surgery, but a couple of weeks ago when I could get dressed, someone said “You’re wearing overalls? That’s such a cute look with your hair done and the natural makeup, should totally be a trend.” Agreed!
Back in the 70's & 80's I would buy bib overalls at the thrift store - cut them off to be shorts and wear them with a tube top underneath.I'm small busted so that worked pretty well for me.
I have never seen anyone pull off the color "green olive" so beautifully!! What an extremely fun and light video... fantastic ideas! Thank you so much for making our weekends!! 💓💕
This was excellent Sage, some great ideas ! I think we can all get a bit hung up on thinking that we have to have original vintage or expensive reproduction items to look the part..... You have more than proved that that is not the case ! X
Oh Sage, you unearthed some awesome looks of the fabulous 40 & 50's. Stars such as, Katherine Hepburn, Barbara Stanwyck, Gene Tierney these famous starlets graced many of film's with Style and Boldness. In your combination of clothes you bring them to life. Thank you 💖👠💐
Every single outfit seems so definitive! I had wanted to do this kind of thing but for a male, I think it's much harder to create this kind of vintage look. Or maybe I just don't have the skills necessary. In any event, you're a beacon, Sage!
Loved this video! Would love to see you do more of these! This is what I've been doing lately - just going to thrift stores and finding vintage style clothes and it makes me so happy!! I feel like this style fits me better than the modern style.
I'm just finally getting into vintage style after dreaming about it for so long, and your videos have been a godsend. Doing my first pin curl set tonight, so will be watching the tutorial. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to finally go for it. X
I was going to make a whole wardrobe for the entire senior year just to do this one special thing for the last year in high school but unfortunately covid happened but worry not I am wearing a vintage dress and makeup look hair look I'm so excited it's going to be on my senior picture and I can't wait I'm so obsessed with the fifties music and clothing
i used to love a company called lindy bop which had some super cute vintage style dresses, skirts and trousers. i have a really cute "poodle" skirt except instead of poodles it has swans on the bottom. (they did sell in OZ) sadly they went last year. but this has given me some ideas for the 40's weekend i go to at a local open air museum (if we can do with everything going on)
When I was a teacher I rocked the vintage look. I found a swing coat at a thrift store and added a fur collar and cuffs. I carried box purses all the time. Your videos are so much fun.
I am new to your channel, and I just want to say I LOVE IT!! My mother was a young mom in the 1950s but I was born later in life, in 1971. I love looking at the pictures of my family, particularly my mom in the 1950s. She made herself beautiful clothes and always wore a hat and sometimes gloves. She "did it all"... Kept a lovely home, raised 4 kids, raised hundreds of chickens, and helped Dad on the farm... all after suffering a stroke at age 23!! Ah... there's a reason they're called "the greatest generation" I'd love to dress and live this way. ;)
Wow ! You look like you stepped right out of a magazine from the 30’s 40’s 50’s 60’s , this is so awesome, I could watch you model this vintage clothes all day long , you bring me such nice warm comfy nostalgia of when life in old movies seemed to be so much more simpler and better ! I loved it all ! ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
Thank you so much for such a beautiful video. Will watch it again tomorrow with my little daughter (we love to do one of your vintage morning fitness routines a few times a week). 😘
Hi Sage. I really thought these were super cute outfits. The white eyelet top,so pretty,my favorite. I love the 30s,and 40s probably the best, because things changed so much between the decade. The blue coat was just gorgeous. Loved the video today, thank you so much sweetie 🥰❤🥰
All these vintage looking clothes look incredible and fantastic. These are beautiful and classy and not trashy like many of the modern clothes that a lot of women wear these days.
Rediscovering ballet flats after about 15yrs of not wearing them was hands down the best add it icon to my shoe closet in years! It is hands down the best all purpose everyday shoe for summer (or three seasons in general)
I have several sweater blouses and pencil skirts from a department store here. With the right accessories and hairdo, it looks 40s-50s. I also have cap sleeves blouses from H&M that can look vintage too. The right undergarments help make the silhouette.
Great video! Jewellery can help you appear more vintage as well. My older relatives wore a lot of coat pins or sweater pins. They also wore collar clasps. Thank you!
Oh my, you are amazing! There is nothing I don't like from Darling, your hair and the cutest dimple. I think you look like Peggy Carter. So happy you are living the way you desire. I wish I would have done the same in my younger days.
Sage, I love your channel and grew up in the 1950's and 1960's. I loved this video because you showed us some practical ways to incorporate some great style ideas from the past but yet current.
I’m not modest or conservative in my style of dress with that said you do a good job at making things look vintage and well put together. You look like you you must each wear what we are most comfortable in.
This comment isn’t exactly for Sage but for anyone who comes across this person I love dressing vintage mostly during spring and summer so what I thought is making my wardrobe mostly modern during winter and only have a few winter Clothing that I can mix and match with and the accessories are important for all seasons but it helps during the winter when you feel like it’s all a drab because you just wanna stay warm but you also look cute! anyways for the spring and summer wardrobe I decided to sell a lot of my modern pieces that I don’t really wear anymore and just to keep basics that I can wear on its own or mix and match with the vintage. I highly recommend selling Depop!❤️
Thank you for this wonderful overview of vintage basics. I highly recommend hats. Hats come in different styles. The one on my photo is very flashy. But there are also small hats that can be worn on the back of the head. A small vintage(-ty) touch.
Great video, idea! Love the way you put these together, LOOKS 😍 I loved filming my how to style video I made sure to include a transition outfit, I love to see great style 🥰
I just love all your outfits and how you put them together! Its so wonderful how you say where you got them. Its very helpful to the rest of us. Thank you!🙂
Good tips 😊 Shirts with a boat neckline are appropriate for 20s onwards too. I found an avocado green long sleeve tshirt from the op shop years ago with a boat neckline. I cut the label off, but I think it's from Sussan (Australia).
the word SAGE in french means a person who knows how to use his mind and a person very wise , you are sage and you look sage ...... lot of love from morocco beautiful lady
I love your videos and I LOVE YOU ! I am going for an Audrey Hepburn look this summer. Holly go lightly ! I hit the jackpot at our local goodwill or "op shop as you say. Today was dollar day on blue tags. 3 beautiful skirts and 2 gorgeous tops for $5. I think one of them is actually vintage and home made. Real satin slip sewn in. Just heavenly ! You are my spirit animal lol.
I notice in the 80s they had some vintage shoes. In 2007 1950s was in every store in the mall it came back I still have some things but most things you can only buy online but your so right.
Thank you Sage everything you wear really suites you. I really loved the overalls and yes op shops you will find a lot of vintage clothes. Thank you again Sage loved your hair as well❤️👍💕
For shoes I adore my black Mary Janes from Ortho-feet due to having very narrow heels and flat feet these are so comfortable and help keep my narrow heels from falling out of my shoes, and for sneakers I adore my 1888 Colchester (low tops) basketball shoes. These sneakers are the one that inspired Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers.
Love all these looks, so much more feminine then the styles today, you’ve given me good ideas! Sage you should model, so adorable from head to toe look pretty in every outfit
I adore your content. Also I love the shorts they look delightful on you. I would love to wear shorts but I live in Scotland meaning I would only use them about 3 times a year.
20 years ago I bought a wool coat from Edinburgh Woollen Mill that was very cheap. It turned out to look timeless, I wish they still sold similar cost, mine was sadly thrown out after it got damaged beyond repair.
I love all your outfits! You’re very stylish. I’m hoping to find some cute vintage style shorts. Can you share some of your favorite old fashioned movies or newer movies that are based like that?
I made the gown and the wedding party’s dressing. The flower girl had a dress (white background with tiny pink roses) with a solid palest pink pinafore trimmed in white eyelet. The bride designed everything and I just cut and sewed for her special day. She wanted a WW2 era wedding, honoring her great-gramma that had a Justice of the Peace quickie wedding, Granddad shipped out 8 days later and she had the Brides grandmomma. Granddad never came home from the Pacific. She gave her great gram the church wedding she always dreamed of having.
You are extremely good at finding and making modern look vintage. I would love to see more thrift haul videos on your channel because you have such good thrift finds.
It is amazing how some styles have been JUST TIMELESS🥰👏🏻🎀I think because the styles are so elegant 👯♂️👗🥿👚👒👛👑that they have lasted over the years!! I love your channel and trying to watch all your videos catching up⭐️🌾🌺🌸🌼🌾💐Debra 🇺🇸Florida
