Hello World!
Welcome to another video from the FREELANCING series where I tell you all the ins and outs of the Java freelancing career.
In today's video I talk about FINANCIAL FREEDOM when it comes to freelancing.
I am curious to know from you if you're on the right track in achieving financial freedom and what is your opinion about it.
Do you consider being financially free important?
I broke down the video in 4 major parts that you can navigate in the chapter section described below.
Enjoy the video and don't hesitate in contacting me with questions and/or suggestions.
With gratitude, Phil from Brazil.

One thing you forgot to mention in the video that if someone who dedicates himself to learning deeply about the concepts of programming and be very good at it and build good projects and be hard-working, and persistent in a big tech company like Google, Amazon or Apple then automatically he gets the Equity and RSU holds at the company without worrying about finances

You're right. But those companies are not hiring new employees currently. Plus they only have a limited amount of positions. It's good to have options and be able to work anywhere. Being in charge of your own career and be your own bank has a lot of advantages, one of them is freedom to work for whoever you want from whenever you want.

Man, you rock - I get so much info from your videos! I can see in the upcoming years you're gonna be a big RU-vidr Can u also make a video about finding contracting jobs as a Java Developer? I quit college (no fees, tho) and started being a web developer with the normie stack (that is, LAMP and node/reactJS etc.) I've done part time jobs and freelance projects in these fields But I'm very into Java, the only fear I have is that I can only find corporate jobs if I learn it. Can u upload a video about contracting with particularly Java and perhaps which portfolio projects to make? thanks in advance

Hey there really appreciate your comment! I love the idea and will for sure add it to my list of next videos to record. There's nothing wrong in working for corporate, there's a lot of money in it and work is called work for a reason right? Else would be called vacation 😁 What I can tell you for now is to watch the video on how to be come a Jr. Developer in my channel and start getting the skills. With those skills get a Jr. job and learn as much as you can. After around 3 years working as a permanent you will have enough knowledge to become a freelancer and start smashing 100.000 + USD / year 🙌🏼

Very informational video brother! I see you have a accounting book on your shelf, perhaps you could teach us what you have learned from it, it would be useful for students like me to utilize our money properly Also, I am thinking of being a remote developer upon graduation, earning in dollars while living in a country with cheaper living standards. You are a huge inspiration so keep up the awesome work brother! Lots of love from Malaysia! ❤

I really appreciate your comment! The accounting book can indeed be useful at some point of your life, so I'd recommend you reading an Accounting for Dummies too just to get an idea on it. Once you go freelancing and remote working find a good accountant that you can trust and stick with him for the rest of your life. He will be able to tell you for sure how to operate as a freelancer. Your idea on working from a cheaper country is great, that's a really good way of having a high standard life. But don't forget to invest as well. To be able to stop working as soon as possible and enjoy your life, doing the things you love and feel passionate about. Love from Holland 🇳🇱

90% of this video was “move to a different country and create LLC before getting a client” nothing about how to structure your product and sell to customers.

Hi Phil, I'm from Cape Verde, I'm 27 years old and I've been a Java Programmer for 3 years, I would like you to help me become a freelancer if is possible. Nice Videos Man
@learn_with_phil
@learn_with_phil Год назад
hi there jorge, the journey to become a freelancer is about acquiring the right tech/social skills. you would also have to move out from cape verde and go to big tech hubs like london or amsterdam or berlin first. i suggest getting a permanent job in those cities and building up a network, after a couple of years you start freelancing within that network.

How much did you earn as a Java developer before freelancing while you're in the company? ? And how much now??
@learn_with_phil
@learn_with_phil 9 месяцев назад
I earned around 70.000eur/year while I was working as Sr.Software Engineer for a company in Holland. I know engineers that make 100.000 but no more than that. As a freelancing contractor I am making over 200.000eur/year.

@@learn_with_phil so sir is Java the only language which makes you earn this much money or do you know or work in other tech stacks?? It seems Java, if someone learns it religiously then he can make pretty good amount of money and a dream lifestyle. Oh 😢 so should I learn java following your java sr developer roadmap or learn Javascript for full stack dev, because its quite long but also less messier than java and the Python route can be taken too for roles like Data Analyst and Data engineer or Data science roles and may be in future, AI. So sir please suggest which path to take? I know no matter whichever path i choose it would definitely take an year or two to be very much proficient at it and be a good software engineer which actually ensures you guaranteed income whatever the job market scenario is

That is only true if you are okay with it. There are many ways of breaking out of that average payment rate. Couple options: freelancing, contracting, working for higher paying companies.
