Today we make a double French bladed inline spinner. I have caught countless smallmouth on these gems in the local rivers and creeks.

That's cool. I like to add a clevis, then blade, then clevis end in the middle of the first clevis/blade, first clevis and back of second clevis on the wire, then blade and second clevis front end on the wire. They look way cool in the water!!

Really good video, sir! I appreciate that you walked through the techniques with the wirebending pliers. It took me forever to figure out how to get a nice, round loop tie. Wish I had watched your video sooner!

That looks like a real winner. Thanks for sharing this with us. I'm going to try to make some.

I enjoyed the video. I agree with the snaps. They are horrible. I might add a swivel at the top and a split ring at the bottom so I could replace the hook and save the spinner. Thank you.

Why would you put the clevis & blades on like you show instead of separating the two with a bearing bead? I have been resistant towards using dark colors for fish on bright days. But I think that I'm going to give this a try for smallmouth here where I live. Thx for the video!
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors

So by putting the clevises in this manner, they are more likely to spin together, as in both spinning. Theyre kinda interlocked. With the bead between I'm not sure if they would. Great question!

@@MakeItTakeItOutdoors thank you. I kinda figured that that was the reason but I wasn't sure. 😊😊😊

They actually make S shaped clevises for 2 blades for musky lures, so those are REALLY locked in!

@@MakeItTakeItOutdoors I have seen those. Makes more sense to me now. Bet these lures would be killer for targeting big trout. 😁

Thanks for sharing where you got the supplies too. On most of my spinners, the dressed hook either breaks, goes dull, or looses the dressing. Any thoughts to putting the hook on a split ring to make replacement easier?
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors 5 лет назад
Would absolutely work. You can find the round nose pliers and probably some split ring pliers at a local Michael's or any where online of course. The wire I get on Amazon.

I've tried this with no luck so far. I have however had luck with double inline blades, double Colorado blades and double french blades but I had space between my clevises
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors Год назад
I've made the double Colorado with interconnected clevises, but not separate. I'll give that a shot too! How do you rig the non clevis inlines? Couple beads in between?

@@MakeItTakeItOutdoors yes, I took a picture of a panther Martin and copied it. I personally like a French blade best (Mepps) but I have caught fish off them all. Mepps and Blue fox are my favorite. Then probably a rooster tail then panther Martin and last but definitely not least Joe flies. My fishing partner however, his order is probably reverse of mine. I know Joe flies is his #1 anyway. As long as you catch fish it really doesn't matter

@@MakeItTakeItOutdoors oh man, that first spinner I built and caught a fish on, man if I could bottle that up and sell it everybody would want that feeling. Now I mostly use lures I've made for trout. Trying to transition into bass fishing with it and occasionally I'll get one right. A friend of mine gave me some left over copper roofing material he had and I cleaned it up, polished it, hammered it out, shaped it and I have made some successful lures from it.

.027"....030" whatever I have lying around. But .027ish is better for these. Good strength but thin for more vibe

What is the brand of round needle nose pliers you are using
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
They're probably close to 20 years old, so I have no clue what brand they are. I will say they are a good quality steel, and they don't shift around even with thicker wires.

@kaybeyer3530 11 месяцев назад
@@MakeItTakeItOutdoors Thanks for responding! I will check out some tools at a quality level. My husband is very impressed with how you bend your wires!
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors 11 месяцев назад
@@kaybeyer3530 the way I judge this type of plier is to close them and see if I can get the jaws to wiggle when I make a loop using the very tip of the pliers. Good ones won't, or barely budge. Thanks for watching and tell your hubby THANKS!

Do you use it just on rivers or also lakes?
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors Год назад
@@jonathanwhtilinger2538 I use it a lot more in rivers. Let's say 80% rivers and 20% between ponds and lakes...if that high even. My local flow, the Scioto river in north central Ohio gets muddy if you sneeze near it. This put's out a lot of vibration. It isn't the thump of single French blades or Colorado blades but puts out a much fast....buzz, I guess you'd call it.
@jonathanwhtilinger2538
@jonathanwhtilinger2538 Год назад
Looks fairly heavy? What length of wire do you start off with? Sorry for all the questions looking at making a few up!
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors Год назад
@@jonathanwhtilinger2538 the beads are hematite, you can find them at Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc. While they are heavier than stone or glass beads, they aren't any where near as heavy as lead. If you have never made anything like these, start with 7-8 inches of wire. You'll want the extra length on tag ends for wrapping until you get used to it then you can start using a little shorter wires. .025 =.030"

where do you get the bearings for the spinner?
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors
@MakeItTakeItOutdoors 5 месяцев назад
I use 2 and 3mm beads that you can fi d at Hobby Lobby, Michael's or other craft shops in the jewelry section. While there look at all the beads, especially hematite. 8and 6mm hematite beads are great for spinner bodies. Hematite is heavier than stone or glass, less heavy than lead but better for the environment

Just a suggestion, line your work area with a blue back ground. It is easier for your viewers to see what you are doing, and it is easier on your eyes as well...
