Hey, just love the way it's been made and wow you had lot of patience for all the moss and the plants to grow before u add the shrimp... But I have few questions, hope you clear it 1. Did you do water changes , what was the water change periods so far 2. I can see fungus on the woods at the top, how do you deal with it 3. How powerful the lights should be for 9 hours a day
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 2 месяца назад
Thank you! 1) Very little changes, and not very often. For shrimp every 3-4 weeks is enough, and I keep them very small (10-15%). 2) I did nothing ;) And it went away, it always does after a while. 3) For dry start - it can be VERY powerful, that is the point because you will not get algae. Once I filled it in with water, I kept it relatively weak. 6W LED at 60% if I remember correctly.

Very nice. I think it would have been nice to speak about the inhabitance and maybe show when you were stocking the tank. Overall, a very nice scape and outcome. 👍🏽

Thanks for the great video! Was wondering would adding some springtails + snails help on the filtering?

Thank you! There are some snails inside already (Clithon Corona), and they are doing a great job!

I just started a tank based on this video. It's a 30x18x24. Used lavarock, as you did. Two mistakes I foresee; I didn't cut the moss small enough, and didn't have a brush, so I expect there to be patches rather than full coverage. But judging by your video, it will spread quick enough. For the carpet, I'm thinking of montecarlo instead of the grass. Thoughts? Also, am I correct that you added the shrimp only two weeks after filling the tank?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Год назад
Yes, after 2 weeks all was good for the shrimp to move in. But I was running small filter during that period to kick start the tank. I took it out before they moved in. Monte carlo should be ok. You just have to be more careful with light because monte carlo requires little more than grass. And finally: be very careful when you fill the tank: all bigger pieces of moss might float because they will not attach to lava rocks that fast. If you see this happen, stop and wait longer for the moss to really hold to the rocks. Good luck!

really informative. I'm currently following your method and today is the 11th day. but my flame moss seems to grow really² slow, can't wait to see the progress. btw, what's your tank average temperature?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 месяцев назад
It stays around 23-24 C. Moss always needs some time to start growing. At the beginning is always looks like almost nothing is happening. But later you will see much faster growth. Best of luck!

Thank you! Yes, you can :) I did similar smaller tanks like this in the past. You just need to consider what you will put inside and how big is your jar.

Hi! Really appreciate your work, so simple and beautiful! I have a question, though: will your moss "painting" method work with Marimo moss balls? I really like their texture and wanna see them as a cover on my hardscape. Anyways, thank you for your knowledge! Cheers!
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 7 месяцев назад
Thank you! I was not using Marimo moss balls for this method, but I have my doubts if it will work... BUT, I'm working on very unique build with those balls - It's in progress and I will publish it soon ;)
