In this video I will try to show you in just 3 minutes how to build super simple nano shrimp tank. Is this possible? Let's watch and see :) Because of the size and small complexity - I treat this as an experiment for my Neocaridina baby shrimp.

Didnt expect this could work! No airstone and tiny size tank. Would you mind sharing how much/often you feed and details on water change? I struggle with overfeeding, bluegreen algae, and keeping shrimp alive haha.
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Год назад
Yes, it was kind of experiment. I feed only 2 times a week, very small amounts. No water changes, just topping the water that evaporates. This is still running, still doing good, and everyone is alive :)

3:17 With water.. Are you sure you put tap water and not DI water filtration system + shrimp salt + water conditioner + water test kit? Because if so, it's quite a big leap on price and size for the overall material. I've done that and both red shrimps dies, despite water changes (dechlorinated tap water) and proper temperature.
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 11 месяцев назад
No, I only use tap water. Nothing else. This was the point of this build.

That sub straight you use, does it have nutrients in the pebble size granules? Like, is it just a custom mix of soil that a company shaped into pellets? Or is it just a man-made lava rock type of substance to allow for surface area for bacteria?
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 2 месяца назад
Yes, according to the producer it has nutrients in it that are released over longer period of time. But often I use additional root tabs with it, just not in small tanks like this one.

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Год назад
It's not ideal. It would be much better to have one longer session, plants photosynthesize in certain way and just stop growing at some point after they are "done for the day" :P
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube Год назад
I water them when I visually see they are drying out. Once a day is totally fine, sometimes even once every 2 days. If everything is moist - you are ok! Just open the foil for few seconds to let the fresh air inside to avoid mold.

@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 5 месяцев назад
Yes, they breed in there and were doing very well. But there were so many that I had to move them to something bigger, so I replaced this tank with this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-u2YgFjUdyyM.html . I was not doing water changes after few months, I was just topping the water that evaporated. Later this tank was used to keep Harlequin rasbora fry for a short time ;)

Hi. I have a 15x15x15cm cube. I am a beginner and i want to learn the basics of shrimp keeping. Any tips? 😅
@AquascapingCube
@AquascapingCube 11 месяцев назад
Acclimation is everything. When introducing shrimp into the tank try to use drip acclimation. They hate sudden changes in water parameters. Stick to the basics, don't overfeed, don't do big water changes, introduce some botanicals into the tank (leaves etc.), create some hiding places for them etc. Good luck!
