Acrylic inks added to the paper with pigment and paste already applied really amplifies the pigment when used in same colors. Doesn’t take much ink, but gives a punch of color!

I agree it is so much easier to add the powder to the water slowly. We learn this in nursing to mix up meds. I doubt you would even have to filter it.

Wondering if it might work if you first coat the canvas with matte medium or just use the painted side to apply the paste to. Seems like that would allow the paste to float a bit! Gonna try it!! ❤

What on earth is craftex? Does it have another name? It doesn't exist according to Google - nor is it available on Ebay. It must be a very localized American name. Any ideas?

As long as you worked really quickly before the gesso dries. You would get more texture on the paper too but it would be a lovey effect.

Good idea to add something to back. I would sprinkle mica onto the wet paste paper using a paint brush.

Being wheat based will it attract vermin? Is it archival safe? I will be trying this for my journal covers, it looks like fuN and the effects are amazing

yes wheat paste does attract pests but if you have that problem (we live in the northeast and battle mice all winter), they will go for easier targets first. Wheat paste is archival ie it won't yellow over time. Have fun!

During the live session someon in the chat box asked if you could let your paste paper dry and then add another layer of paste over it. I don't believe that question was answered except by someone else on the chat. I'm wondering if doing that would make the paper too thick or cause other issues.

This is a very common practice when doing paste papers.

Definitely, You can build up layers. Just let it dry in between.

I was thinking this might work for cloth. Paint a thin layer, let it dry, then use it as you would the paper. Might work.

Do you have to heat it to stop bacteria growing as we do won't the pastels just get too thick zand how long must we heat paste for without it boiling please
