Super video. You explained everything and got down with the subject. Will be using your recipes. Oh, and thanks for not rambling on about nothing to do about canning. So many people want to talk about how their dog chewed on their house slipper before getting to the subject at hand ... thanks again.
Nice video! For your safety I don't know if you realizes it or not but you have your jar lifter upside down . The GREEN part which is rubber, is suppose to wrap around the rim if your jar! Hope it helps, Tammie
something I did not THINK of 🤦🏻♀️- when I FILLED my ‘water bath’ for the processing (boiling for 15 mins) I put ONE jar in the COLD water and dropped it down- decided I needed to FILL it…. but, once I had 8 FULL of CARROTS & BRINE jars on my rack to lower it into the (now BOILING) water… YIKES! I had to stop. pull my jars quickly, and then ladle out about 3 quarts of water!! THEN, I could lower safely. I have done jelly and jams- never BIG jars, so- just a heads up!! I’m hoping we have found a carrot we will LOVE! We used to eat at a local Mexican Restaurant- the owner sold and retired- gave us HIS recipe, but, not for CANNING- just to *eat now*…. were talking about making his brine - and still adding the garlic, and peppers, etc to the jars- then process. IF we don’t LOVE yours! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽that your carrots are the BOMB! 😘
Did you heat jars before you put the hot water in them as I would be afraid of the jars cracking if they are cold also did you bring it up to a rolling boil then set the timer for 15 mins? Thanks 🙏
marina agathangelou - it is important that the jars are warm, so i put them in the dishwasher and take them out right before I use them. A rolling boil is preferable.
Perhaps you should figure out which end of the jar tongs is up before you make a video showing people how something is done. I can't understand why anyone would make a how to video when they obviously don't know what they are doing. The first time you do something is not the time to do a how to video.
