Ingredient List:
* 1 cup Flour
* 1/4 teaspoon Salt
* 3 large Eggs
* 1 cup Milk
* 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted
* 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into 6 even pieces
(If you only have salted butter, then use that.)

I’ve been making Yorkshire puddings for 45 years, where I come from they are served with a roast dinner and I use lard because there meant to be savoury not sweet. Started Keto 7 months ago so no flour for me or hubby, I gave these a go, they are pretty good, but I will stick with the lard. Thanks for sharing.

You’ve made exactly, one half, of a recipe that I’ve used in the past. It ends up filling all of the popover pans, fully.

These came out beautifully! And I do mean came out, hah, whole from the pan. My last batch had stuck to the sides of the pan like glue. But these were gorgeous, and delicious. I have to say though what I enjoyed best was your voice and kind manner - I just kept thinking, I want to be friends!

I am no Baker! I was soooo afraid to try these....bought a pop over tin and followed directions to a T, OMG I am eating my very FIRST POP OVER and they are HUGE, yummy and so impressive! I cut a tiny slit in sides to cool so they don't FLOP. I can't wait to make these for someone! I am eating mine with a small bit of strawberry jelly! THANKS FOR TEACHING US with great, simple directions. I can cook! YAAAAAY!

OK, making them again to see what I did wrong. Do eggs and milk HAVE to be room temperature? I didn't think I did that before but am overthinking maybe because I had a flatter batch? Anyway- here I go

To the Brits - popovers are a similar buttery, American version of Yorkshire pudding, but not exactly the same.

This is by far the most complicated popover (Yorkshire Pudding) recipe on YT. It's also has the longest baking time.

These are not Yorkshire puddings. These are popovers. They're a different bakery item and have different consistencies. I made these popovers this morning (actually - I made the batter yesterday and baked them this morning). They turned out perfectly. Popovers take longer to bake because the eggs are used to create a light, airiness. Popovers are also much larger than Yorkshire puddings.

This recipe look great! I'm trying it out for Easter morning. I like the idea of putting butter in the individual cups. Looks like it'll add great flavor. I bet you could probably add some savory spices to the buttered cups as well. Thanks for sharing your recipe. :)

I hope you like it! Make sure to grease the cups before you put the tray in the oven to pre-heat.

OMG I love making Vinny popovers break them in half and stuff them with chicken salad crab salad or even with some shrimp salad anything goes with these

Cool pan. I recently tried foodwishes recipe and it did not stick to the pan. These are so fun to make, and stuff with things :D

The only difference between these and Yorkshire puddings is that Yorkshire puddings traditionally have meat grease in the bottom of the pans rather than butter!

Very nice video tutorial, I'm new to popover. ..so just wondering is there anyway that I can add sugar in it to make it slightly sweet maybe? ( I know it's a,silly question ) thanks in advance

I found another recipe which added 1 1/2 teaspoons of sugar to the popover recipe. Then as an added "sweet", after the popovers come out of the oven and are removed from the pan (still hot), they used the following extra ingredients to make a sugar coating, first mixing the following two ingredients in a bowl: 2/3 cup (130 g) sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon And then melting 1/4 of butter (1/2 of a stick), brushing each popover with the melted butter, and then rolling the butter-covered popover in the sugar/cinnamon mixture. Sounds sweet to me!

I've tried about 4 popover recipes. This is the only recipe that didn't stick to the pan.

I used popover pan followed your directions . I am not sure how old the eggs are. It’s frustrating I have made them many times and hoped this was the answer to non sticking.

They're similar. Yorkshire pudding recipes tend to use lard. Popovers use butter. Also, comparing recipes (like this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-atTa6PRzZ8M.html), my popover recipe has 3 eggs while that Yorkshire pudding recipe has only 1 egg. The eggs are what make the popovers light and air-y.

I did everything this video said and the popovers stuck to the popover pan and didn’t raise.? Ideas?

Did you use a popover pan? Or a cupcake tin? Did you grease it as I showed, and do all of the pre-heating steps? Are the eggs newly purchased or are they a week or two old? (Not sure if it makes a difference, but in some other types of recipes, older eggs work better.)

For the batter, can you simply use heavy whipping cream instead of milk and butter? Heavy whipping cream already has a little bit more fat content than regular milk. Also, do you use regular flour or self-rising flour? I am thinking plain flour but your recipe does not specify...

lwblack64 i use one cup of plain flour.one cop of milk.half teaspoon of salt 4 eggs .heat thevoil til steamin then pour.mine come out great every time and rise to the top

Would it still work if you oiled the pan with vegetable oil? Instead of saline oil

Good question. I didn't know what Yorkshire pudding was until now -- I just looked up a few recipes. They certainly look like popovers. But popovers are made with butter. The Yorkshire pudding recipes I looked up didn't have any butter, but recipes say to include fat drippings from a cooked roast. I think I prefer the butter!

HowToDoStuffWatchHre a good yorkshire pudding ban your butter use salt or celery salt.. then use lard or veg oil.. and deffo plain flour.. milk any!! and water from tap. 3eggs and make your batter not too thick more on watery side then enjoy love england :-))

joe Thomson and sorry get oil hot in oven. then put your mixture in.. once in the oven do not open oven door and watch them rise in a muffin tin of course.. and ty for sharing your dishes too :-))) but please do not use butter. and whisk your batter mix to you see bubbles

you are right monica i do them exatley like you do.. but i dont use butter. its just lard or oil in the muffin tins. then you get a good brown colour. but hey i would surely love to try one of your popovers they look amazing:-)))

Popovers don't stick in the pan if you adequately butter the pan. If that gives you issue, follow the butter with a light dusting of flour.

+arbonac I don't think I agree with that. Before deciding that this recipe worked the best, I tried 3 other popover recipes that had adequate butter in the pan and the popovers stuck in the cups every time. I think it's the combination of ingredients working together which causes the popovers to either slide out easily or stick to the pan. Since I've done the work of experimenting with different recipes and found this recipe to work the best, the rest of you who find this video don't need to do all of the experimenting that I've already done for you.

Doesn't filling the muffin cups on the open oven door let all the oven's heat out?? A hot, HOT oven is part of the recipe for popovers! What a waste! And it's probably why your popovers didn't brown properly.
