Is there any chance you could re-post this video without the background music? As someone with hearing problems this was difficult to follow but one of the best videos I've seen. I'm just learning about the raw diet and wanted to say you did a great job!!!
try this video -- it has a much more mellow sound track www.dropbox.com/s/2c4pz0wqj65z052/Dog%20Produce.wmv?n=105490758 here is the video interview I did this Dr. Karen Becker healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2014/08/17/homemade-dog-food.aspx
@@andolsy475 that link no longer works, I agree, I wish you'd re-post this video without the background music. I don't have hearing problems but I can hardly understand you since the music is loud and distracting.
I first watched your video which is amazing, bought Dr. karen Becker's' book and have been making our own raw dog food for 8 months or so now. We would not go back, our dogs love the recipes in Dr.karen Becker's book and we also make the supplement. Our dogs love cantaloupe ,steamed broccoli and other appropriate veg and fruits for their treats!! Yes, I was brainwashed into thinking the dog food companies knew what they were doing, boy was I wrong,we will never go back. Thank you a million times over,my doggies thank you!! And I would like to add that making your own food for your doggies is not expensive. We use to go to the pet store and spend a couple hundred dollars a month. Now I buy all our groceries together.
I have been feeding my two German Shepherds, raw food, for over 12 years, without any problems. What I don't get is that why you remove the fat and skin? They are GOOD dude! Your music sucks though. Please make your vids without any sound track. Thanks for upload anyways.
+Yaniel Acosta same here, honestly if I wasn't already raw feeding my Olde English Bulldogge and saw this video, I'd say fuck this and go buy some kibble.. You made it waaaaay harder than it needs to be, but some chicken or meat from the butcher, rinse it, throw it in front of them... Good to go! Add some veggies here and there, it's not balance in EVERY meal, in balance over time! Good job on talking care of your dogs and hated the stupid music haha
+Alfred o What is the quantity of food that you feed your dogs? I have a 3 month old gsd and ive started feeding her raw but i am confused about the quantity of food that i need to give her
Ankit Saxena Hi Ankit. Basically you are supposed to feed your dog 2% ~2.5% of her body weight per day. For example, one of my dogs weigh about 135 lbs., so I feed him 2.5 to 3 lbs. each day. I feed my dogs twice a day, so I divide the above amount into two. So morning I feed him about 2lbs., give and take, and evening also feed him about the same amount. You don’t want to over feed your dog. Just remember that the key to successful BARFing is the variety. Give your dog different variety of food. If you give your dog just one kind of food, eg, chicken, she would develop allergy to chicken in no time. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with, and good luck.
Hello, i have doberman puppy, 4 month old she is about 39 lbs, and labrador adult she is about 78 lbs. Can you please give me some more information about giving raw food to dogs? I dont know much about it. I'm feeding them kibbles but i want to switch to raw food, but not for raw food to be regular daily food but also mixed with kibbles.
We agreed with you!!! Try this video - much better sound track www.dropbox.com/s/2c4pz0wqj65z052/Dog%20Produce.wmv?n=105490758 here is the video interview I did this Dr. Karen Becker healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2014/08/17/homemade-dog-food.aspx
Your a great dog owner I can tell from the time and care you put into making your dogs food making sure it's just right its the little things that count and you have made that apparent great job
omg..this video is so awesome..thank you for taking the time to video the process for us..u Rock!.. I love the Music Too.. how fun! thanks for being such a awesome pup dad..keep up the great work..hugs
GREAT VIDEO!!!!! and Yes!! Cabela's Commercial-Grade 1-3/4 hp Electric Grinder, Rock's!! great for when you have a pack of conavor's, it gets the job done. Dr. Karen Beaker's book on Raw Food A # 1... Thank you for posting.
Thank you very much. Can't wait for your next video. I hope that you will indicate all components with the exact quantities and measurements. This would be very useful for sure!
+Francine L. - We are working on new video with all the portions... but to hold you over the following is for the chicken Whole chickens without the skin 459 oz, hearts 27 oz, liver 27 oz, carrots 53.75 oz, Napa Cabbage 53.75 oz, orange or red bell peppers 53.75 oz, cantaloupe 26.86 oz.
Liked the information within the video, however, it is REALLY hard to hear the instructions OVER the repatative "who let the dogs out" song. It's VERY annoying. It would be funny for the introduction, but when the information on the how-to starts, it would be better if no other sounds were apart of the video so as to not interfere with the instructions. All in all though, good video, and thanks for the recipe.
Brilliant video guys...thank you. There are sadly some very ungrateful people around who just want to give negative feed back, no mention of their pets well being or thanks for the information in your video. Yes the music is distracting and I had to turn the volume way up to catch what you said a few times but it was worth it....and I know you have realised that yourselves so I may head over and watch the 'other'one.... Great work....I feed my dogs raw and we prep a week at a time. I have to admit I don't grind - I like to give mine the meat 'as is' so he gets the chewing and crunching of the bones. I feel that is good for his teeth and I have no worries about his ability to deal with them. He has his morning meal 'as is' and his evening meal like yours so I can add the veg and fruit. Shame more people don't raw feed...if they only knew the benefits. So many vets are against it - because they are sponsored by the kibble manufactures.....and they would be almost out of business if we all raw fed...I am not foolish to think it means my dog will never be ill...but it gives him a much better chance...:)
+Caroline Barrett-- I am so glad you read the comments and knew about the "other" video. Thank you so much for your comments - sorta makes it worth while. We grind for 2 reasons (1) my dog is a gulper... if we cut it chunks he simply swallows and poops out big chunks of meat so he is not getting the benefit of all the wonder raw nutrients (2) If it is not all ground together he has a wonderful talent of spitting out the bits he doesn't like (e.g. the veggies). I think more and more vets are coming around. Congrats to you for feeding raw. I hope you are following a recipe to ensure a balanced diet. DON"T GUESS.
What I would like to know is how much a large dog gets portion-wise. Also how does it equate to dog food (Kibble). I am about to get a German Shepherd puppy and would love to feed this way. I just have these 2 questions. I think if it justifies the cost and over time we actually save money, I can convince my husband to do it. :)
Just beautiful! Your Babies are Beautiful too! I have a Weim and a Lab, great dogs! Ive been feeding Raw but Pre-Made for three years. I am wanting to also make homemade dog food like you did here, kinda hard when I’m a vegan handling that animal flesh, guess that’s why I buy pre-made. (And no I do not believe dogs cats should be made to be Vegans because of their ancestors) I love your equipment that grinds the meats, wow impressive! I am assuming your plastic containers are BPA free? Thank you for sharing!! Awesome job!
Belle, others have made the same comment. Below is the link to the interview I did with Dr. Karen Becker. At the bottom of the page is the video with a much softer sound track (composed by a friend of mine - Matt Stewart). I hope you can enjoy the video with the new sound track. healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2014/08/17/homemade-dog-food.aspx?x_cid=youtube comments are always welcome!
Excellent video. You have inspired me to buy Dr. Becker's book and get further into a raw food diet for my canines. We already do a partial raw with kibble, but I would like to cut out the kibble all together. Thank you for taking the time to post this video.
What amazes me is how wonderful and dedicated you are to take care of your dogs by spending so much time and care....and people find fault with your music. It is like seeing a mom pushing a beautiful baby in the stroller and all you see is how big the mom's butt is. Come on people. Give someone credit where credit is due. If YOU were a dog, you would love to have owners like this, Music or not. Great job to you.
I love the info and demo of the food. I find the music to annoying and distracting enough I don't want to watch the whole vid. through out the process. Cute to have music at the beginning of vid as long as it is not such a long lead in.
Considering this makes 8 weeks, and that's 2 months about. The turkey or chicken would seem to be the cheapest. It costs about the same as single serve wet dog food per month. If you have a local slaughter house or butcher it will be dirt cheap if you just ask for scraps and organs since nobody really buys it. The produce would also be pretty cheap if you buy local. With my perfect conditions is costs about $30 per month to feed my lb dog. 10$ for chicken 5-10$ for produce and $5 for organ meat. I give it $10 wiggle room in case I want to add beef or pork
You don't want to eat raw pork. It's extremely dangerous. Some dogs can't handle beef. Maybe because it's loaded with antibiotics and drugs from vaccines. I would only use chicken and fish and boiled eggs. Dogs also need fish oil and some vitamins and minerals. Dogs definitely need the raw bones ground for calcium, just like in the wild. Never give smoked or cooked or dried bones. Have the butcher grind the bones also if you are having the butcher grind the meat for you. These guys bought their grinder from Cabella's Sports Store. I don't know the cost, but I'd want to compare product and price with others, including Amazon.
Thanks for the show and tell. Gave me some idea of what goes into raw dog food for that many dogs. I have 4 and was considering incorporating raw food into their current diet. Kudos for you for caring enough about your dogs to do this and don't listen to the haters.
That was amazing. Thanks so much for showing how it's done. We just adopted a 55# 10 month old ridgeback/hound/pit (???) mix. I bought a big bag of grain-free kibble since he's used to eating regular dry food. I'm studying how to transition him to real food for dogs. I want him to have the best nutrition to avoid health issues. This will help so much.
Michelle Powell from what I've heard, it's a bad idea to TRANSITION to raw. you either feed kibble or raw because the two don't go together health wise, unlike transitioning to a different brand of kibble. I think your best bet would be to pick a day to stop entirely with kibble and start with the raw food. I've also head people say they like to not feed the dog for 24 hours before introducing to raw food, but I personally just don't like the idea of fasting my dog for 24 hours. Hope this helps!
You mentioned that the first recipe is enough for 8 weeks for one dog. Are you talking about a 15 lb chihuahua or a 200 lb Great Dane? (Caveat: if you mentioned this at the end of your video, I missed it. Couldn't take the music any more.)
Thank you so much for the video. So many people are uneducated regarding a Raw diet when it comes to their Fur Babies. Its wonderful that you show people how simple the making of a Raw diet is. Except for being a time consumer, it's much easier than people think. Dr. Becker is wonderful and people should listen to all of her videos. ;) I also see where you mention cooking your egg whites? I have seen many Raw diets where the whole egg with shell is ground. What is your reason for cooking the whites?
+AzureHeartSong what makes you think that? the grinder makes the food recipe into a good balance it does not take anything away from the food and if you want to feed turkey-chicken bones to your dog it has to be ground!
+Nele Bean Have you ever wondered why wolves have such great teeth? They certainly don't get them cleaned at the vet. It's chewing meaty bones. It's nature's way of keeping their teeth healthy. And there's good stuff in the bones as well. Raw, meaty bones are very good for dogs. I also agree that a raw diet shouldn't be ground.
+AzureHeartSong i dont agree with most bones , but i do agree on turkey necks or chicken ground with the bone, yea they can eat bone but for me trukey necks are less likely to cause any issues because the bone is covered in meat a swallowed dogs are dogs they will eat and survive eating outof garbage so yea they can eat bones but safe side for me i feed beef cubes not ground , i ground my chicken with bone in , and feed whole turkey necks.
+Nele Bean Chicken and Turkey bones are very good and healthy for dogs as long as they are not cooked first. It is quite common and often recommended to feed large breeds whole or partial chickens or turkeys a few times a year. It helps them by activating glands that only get activated when ripping and tearing at their food. Something kibble and moist foods cannot do for them. Just remember that bird bones are only safe if they are not cooked. After cooking they become brittle and splinter causing mouth injuries and or intestinal blockages.
My God you take REALLY great care of your animals...in such admiration of you. Also... who cares about all those haters and whatever they're saying about the music dude... I seriously cannot get over how much variety these dogs are getting...
It would be so much easier to watch and HEAR the instructions and guidelines without that loud music playing over the entire video. Really distracting and not helpful.
Susan, others have made the same comment. Below is the link to the interview I did with Dr. Karen Becker. extreme pain? no no they mimic a mothers bite and ive always used them cuz it is night and day when we are talking about walking but they should only be used for walking my pets are super friendly with everyone no aggression that is just a mith
Man seriously you remove skin and fat parts? There are a lot of benefits dude.. But what makes me laughing what when you scraped the apples.. All in all much better than tins thanks for it. Sh*t music btw.
Hi Sorry to burst your bubble but you can laugh at the scraping of the apples all you want until you understand that the seeds in an apple contain arsnic which can kill your dog. so maybe you need to do a little more research before you make fun of something
Thanks so much for this informative video! It's inspired me to create a similar food prep co-op in our area. (Wish I could find the original link that didn't have the music playing throughout...) Thank you!
+April Kee - just look up Andol SY on youtube. You will find the other video with a different sound track. Would love to hear how your co-op is going. I am very excited for you.
Excelente vídeo...Muy educativo y orientador a la hora de hacer la comida correcta para nuestros perros. Muchas gracias por compartir. Un saludo desde Vzla.
Everyone is complaining about the music. I’m over here impressed by the 1.75hp meat grinder. I’m looking for commercial grade meat grinders and a 1.5 is impressive
Thanks for showing that. Do you have a note of how much meat in lb's and measurements for it all somewhere that I can view?Cute dogs at the end, they made me smile!
Great video! I did not see you add any supplements like vitamins though and thought on Dr. Becker's video it was mentioned. Can you tell me what you would add to this mixture?
