In this video I will show you how I make realistic pine trees for my dioramas. They are in 1/64 scale, but they also can be used in 1/43 scale. Same technique can be used for other scales, particularly for 1/87, 1/72, 1/50, 1/55, 1/36, 1/24 and maybe bigger ones.

I honestly didn't know you could use an airbrush for pva glue without destroying it. I always thought it was too thick even watered down. Thanks for the new knowledge

You can water it down as much as you can and it gets thinner and thinner. It is water based so water dilutes PVA glue. Alcohol dilutes it even faster and better. It's thin enough for airbrush even at 1:1 mix with water. Of course, PVA itself can be thicker or thinner, but if you work with airbrush you can make rought guess will some liquid be thin enough for airbrush when you shake it a little. If it clogs airbrush you can always clean it with water or alcohol. Note that I was using 0.5 mm nozzle, so if you have smaller nozzle you may need to dilute it little more.

Well, that is always problem. You make something and then you see a better idea to make that same thing. It happens to me all the time.

I've been doing quite a bit of research on modeling pine trees. My diorama is in 1:25 scale, and everything I could find online pre-made, LOOKED manufactured and unnatural. While I was a little leery of your methods during your process, I held judgment until the end. And while there are some guys building 4 foot, hyper realistic old growth trees, that would cause most people to go insane trying to recreate, your method, here, looks the best, especially for the time invested. Well done!

Nice job demonstrating your pine tree creation process. What is your estimate of time to create one tree? Your trees look great.
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair Год назад
Time to create one tree depends do you have materials prepared or not. If you cut wires before and store them for later use, cut rope pieces and have mixed glue then you can make one tree in 30-40 minutes in average if you are making in batches. I'm not calculating drying time for glue and paint, because when one tree is drying you can work on other trees meanwhile. If you cut wires and rope for each tree only when you need it, time can go up to one hour. I always prepare larger amount of materials so I can work in series. And you can speed up drying with hair dryer. I can make about 10 trees in 6 hours, maybe even more.

@@WhattoRepair Are these trees 1/64 scale?

Yes, all on my channel is in 1/64 scale. Cars in this video are in 1/64 scale so you can see size of trees compared with trees.

I WOULD MAKE A DIONAMA OF A PINE FOREST IN 1/35 SCALE. I WOULD ALSO PUT SOME MODELS OF THE SAME SCALE, 1/35. THEY WOULD BE THE CHINESE PLA SOLDIERS AND THEIR HORSES
@WhattoRepair
@WhattoRepair 10 месяцев назад
You can use this technique to make trees in 1/35 scale. Process will be the same, just use longer sticks for tree trunks. For example, if pine tree is 15 meters tall in real life, than use sticks about 43 centimeters long.
