Great tutorial! I will utilize this method to add trees to the Tennessee Central Railway Museum HO layout in Nashville!

Some of the best trees I've seen. Simple to do and great looking. The only other thing is that I see no need to spend money on awls. Nails come in all sizes and almost everyone has some. Drill a hole in the end of a dowel and cut the head of the nail off with a dremel cut off wheel and bingo and awl. A little work but they'll last forever.

Great video, guys! Some of my fondest early work memories was at an art scenery shop in Chicago. The paint department used DM spray paints a Lot. This was in the 80's when the paint formula was definitely not environmentally friendly: the painters were high all the time!! haha one of my first jobs was installing their vent fans!

Joe, again you have done a great job. There is a video by a company called Zoomco. The video is titled: "Model railroad scenery: Modeling quick realistic trees." I have tried with palm tree, however, I was not able to find roots full enough to use. Again, thank you for a posting another great video.

Thanks for the helpful display guys. I work on making scenery for tabletop army games and tree making has always been a costly struggle for me.

Great tip and video! I will definitely try this when I'm up to adding scenery. I'm still building the tracks... You taught me something useful in eight minutes. Thanks. It is easy to criticize but hard to create. Even harder to act natural... Performane is a underappreciated skill. You both did fine for a very helpful RU-vid video. Better to build people up rather than tearing them down.

Wonderful video. In other videos Ive watched people use spray adhesive over hairspray as it holds up longer. What has been your experience with hair spray’s durability?

weeds!! go out and find weeds that mimic the structure of a tree. mimature rosebush cuttings with ground foam works nicely also. look in your gardens you will be surprised at what looks like bushes or trees. nothing like nature to mimic its self. your a hobbyist use your creativeness and save your money for the more expensive items.

here's a few things for building a railroad layout yourself Find a suitable set of plans online Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have another person to encourage you (I read these and why they work from Jareks Hobby Club site )
