Another one is that if I want to make it black or golden or silver , what can I use in it to give it the desire colour. You mentioned oil colour, what kind of oil colour. Can you plz specify?
Thank you for your reply and questions. 1) This resist penetrates all the way through the silk, that's why it's so soft and elastic, and it won't wash out and it even doesn't need to. 2) I used to add some silver powder (of a very small fractions), but it bottom out very quickly, so I had to shake the resist quite often. But it worked :) 3) For solvent based resists goes only oil colors. I like to use Ukrainian oil colors. And I didn't like Daler-Rowney - they spoil the resist too soon. But my suggestion is to try any available oil color but in very small amount of resist and to watch how it behaves. Because very often oil colors stratify the resist. So any way it's better to make colored resist for one project. I usually do that.
Thank you for all your tips and relies. I’ve watch the link on making colored resist 4 times , making detail notes as I want so much to do it properly. I like the fact with colored resist it won’t wash out. The three ingredients in the video, wax ,gasoline, and rubber glue that you put in the bottle- becomes the resist? OR that mixture must be added to a gasoline base gutta? Which is what I think. If so, using the bottle amount you poured into the bottle- how much more resist would you add to keep the color value as it appears. ? I know my questions must seem elementary to your experience self, but I am new at this. Your videos are the most informative I have found so I appreciate you very much. Hello Susan. Yes gasoline, wax and rubber glue - that's what gasoline based resist consists of. When all this stuff melted together - it's done. To make it colored you want to add a little amount of oil paint and blend well.
i followed the recipe, however i had some problems: my gutta stuck together when i steamed the fabric with high heat. i also couldn't dilute it further, because the benzine didn't completely mix into the neoprene glue, it also evaporated quickly when i tried to stir them together. maybe my glue has a problem. have you ever encountered this?
oh, what a shame... yes, as I sad in the video some subscribers complained that it didn't work out. and the only problem is - glue. it has to be Rubber glue only. I usually buy it in a local shoe repair shop. and it always work well. well, I hope you manage to find the right glue
For making water based gutta will the ingredients are same ? I guess instead of oil colour one use acralic colour m I right pl reply because this video is wonderful Thanks
Thank you :)) For coloring gasoline based resist fits ONLY oil color. I never colored water based gutta but I think that only water based paint will fit for coloring water based resist. Once I'll try to do that and I'll share my experience.
Can i melt wax separately ( stove or microwave) and then mix the ingredients. Can powder pigments be added for colour Do we need to leave the resist to evaporate?
1) I think it should work 2) only oil paint 3) no, only if it's too liquid. In time you'll feel which consistency is better for you. The consistency can be adjusted to the diameter of a nozzle, to the density of silk, to the wideness of the line you want to get. @@issilkpainting does it leave a feel on the silk, some people say it feels rubbery? Also, do you know difference between powder, Acra dyes and paint dye
Hi, I was able to make the gutta, only issue is that when I draw line and lift the gutta bottle, the gutta would not stop completely , it would still have strings of resist attached. I think it's happening because my rubber glue was thick(I will try with less rubber glue). The good thing is it does not leave any feel on the fabric.
@@paintwithpriya Hi, yes I know what you are talking about... Your suggestion is right - to use less rubber glue. Another way - to add more gasoline, and for not letting resist to leak too fast, to use a smaller diameter of a resist's tube. Anyway I'm glad you succeed to make the resist.
