Just a tip offered from an old man who was an editor in a previous life. There is no need to say “grounded” when referring to your cannabis after it has been blended. When you buy coffee, it doesn’t say “grounded coffee” on the bag. It’s just “ground” coffee. 😊

I am a member of Rick's Phoenix Tears from Nova Scotia, Canada....and I found a new cooking method that is much more precise when it comes to cooking temperature. I use an induction cooker (just a small portable stove-top cooker) which has precise digital thermostatic control over the entire cooking period. I set the temp at 248oF and at the end of the cooking time (about 35 mins) I turn the temp down to about 100-150oF to cook-off the remaining solvent. There is no need to switch to a small metal cup or other similar container for the final solvent release. The oil this method produces is top-notch. I'm so happy when I see the comments from around the world about the incredible medical efficacy of this wondrous extract. It works miracles...and not only for cancer.

My dad had skin cancer on his scalp. He was about to do chemo as the doctor recommended but I stopped him. I applied this oil to his scalp for 3 weeks and the cancer completely disappeared. For people asking if he needs to decarb first, or saying hes doing it wrong. No he is not. As long as he is reaching the decarb temperature in the rice cooker, then it will work fine. I have done this in 2015 before and made it by straight cooking it at the right temp, and my stuff turned out potent as hell. You also don't need to freeze it . I used coffee filters for mine which are a lot more fine than a cheese cloth, so it took a long time to filter it all out , and there was a lot of resin still stuck in the filters. So my product was very clean, but a lot was wasted. With this way, you will get a lot of impurities in the oil but a lot more product and it probably will still be potent

My dad was healed by this. He was on a liver transplant list and started taking this and is off the list. This was years ago, hes still alive. He does however have to continue to take it on occasion when he starts getting symptoms again.

I have Fibromyalgia. I was on the full gammit of pain killers, pills, pills and more pills. I got off the merry go round. Stopped ALL of that and switched to making/taking RSO. Lifesaver to the hilt. I've heard this really helps people with Colo-rectal cancer when used as a suppository as well. I'm definitely looking to make this for my entire family as medicine to have on hand, no matter what the ailment. I use a distiller & ALWAYS distill OUTSIDE on my deck. I use a lot more ETOH. Some use naphthalene which consists of a benzene ring, 6 carbon ring, aromatic ring which causes cancer thus my use of pure grain. My pure grain has a liquor seal; one can drink it. All ETOH can or could be bad for one's health. My procedure: I soak whatever in a lot of ETOH in freezer. Mash up whatever a lot, put in freezer for about an hour, strain with a paint mesh. It has elastic around it & can be used on a large container. Reserved liquid can be strained again with cheesecloth or coffee filter. I end up with about 2 quarts of mixture. Pour into distiller...takes a couple of hours....but keep an eye on the last 1/4....it distills quickly. Then I pour liquid in a small metal cup (birdcage cup) & put on a hot plate set on warm. Put 10 drops of H2O into this cap with mix. Supposedly, it should be ready when no more bubbling....if not, keep on hotplate until desired consistency. I put into tiny bottles/vials with caps. BUT I allow it to sit out to have all the ETOH evaporate for a couple of days...then screw on caps & put in 'fridge.

5:15 at this stage Rick Simpson says add a little water. As it boils off at a higher temp than the alcohol you can be sure there is no residual alcohol left once the water has boiled off. Also if you just put straight RSO in a cap it won't be as effective as it is when mixed with some Coco oil. 100mg RSO in a cap won't do as much as 100mg RSO mixed with 200mg Coco oil in a capsule, Organic virgin cold pressed oil is the way to go 👌

I live in Northern Cali. I am a home grower and I have been making all of my own products. With the outrageous prices at the dispensaries here. I had no choice than to start making all my own stuff. I started taking RSO to help with coming off of a 7 year addiction to pain killers and it worked wonderfully. I can now take them as prescribed if given them after a medical procedure. I prefer not to though. I started making the RSO myself about a year ago just so I could start taking it daily as a substitute to sugary edibles that I make too. 6 months ago I had my plantar fasciitis come back after 7 years. The first time around it took about 4-6 months to go away and 100's of dollars in stupid stuff to try and alleviate some of the pain. Guess what? This time I started rubbing RSO directly on where it was hurting on the bottom of my foot twice a day once in the morning and once when I got home from work. Once it absorbed into my skin it immediately took the edge off of the pain every time I applied it. Now for the amazing part! The plantar fasciitis went away in 3 weeks with less than a 3 gram syringe. Not 100's of dollars in bullshit this time. I now use it for all body aches and body pain. Right now I have had a torn rotator cuff since late March waiting for surgery very painful. I have been putting a generous amount on my shoulder where the pain is twice a day and the pain is tolerable I'm able to tend to my cannabis garden and my vegetables and move stuff around without severe pain. This shit is the real deal!! It is healing people naturally without the harmful side affects that pharmaceuticals almost always come with. I do a lot of bartering since selling if you are not a dispensary in Cali is illegal. I use RSO to control my seizures. I recently bought both a water distiller and induction stove. I'm not sure how much isso I'll recuperate but it has to be better than shilling out an extra $50 a month. Additionally less alcohol fumes should be produced. I like to pour my almost finished oil into an oven safe dish and bake it at 220 for 3 hours. It purges the remaining alcohol (you can actually see bubbles forming in the oil. When it stops all the booze is gone) and fully decarboxylates the oil for oral consumption.

Cheese cloth or coffee filters are VERY absorbent, so if you get them wet and ring them out you wont lose any " medicine " in the filters. CHEERS !!!

I like using higher ratio of alcohol to cannabis ratio, 16 to 1 is the ratio I've seen in a research into the topic talking about ideal ratios for commercial settings. Only issue with this at home is the prohibitive cost of alcohol. In order to counter act this i do my cannabis in 1-2 oz washes, and then keep washing each batch with that same 16-32oz of alcohol till all of it is washed. I just add a bit of fresh ethanol in between the washes to make sure I'm going into each fresh batch with the desired 16-32oz of ethanol solution. Other tip I have is I don't do long washes as they lead to higher concentrations of chlorophyll. It'll even pull a good bit of lipids, fats, and waxes unless done at supercritical temps, which is not viable for at-home production. To counter act that, each batch of cannabis only gets a 5-10min wash cycle. Again which is the length of time this study on commercial ethanol extraction found the highest yields without significant diminishing returns on the time investment. Ethanol strips 90% of goodies within just a minute or two and at the 10 min mark yields returned into the 90-93% range in that experiment. Even after just one minute a solid 80-85%+ is extracted, which is the reason teks like quick wash ethanol work so well for at-home use. This 5-10minute timeframe falls somewhere between traditional RSO teks and golden dragon tincture teks, to create a much cleaner better tasting RSO with less chlorophyll, and fat/wax/lipid gunk that won't need to be winterized out in an additional step. Temperature of the extraction is also key if the goal is to preserve more terpenes, which in a commercial setting is the biggest factor besides extraction time that separates the un-dab-able RSO and a fully dab-able FECO type product. Both are just ethanol based extractions, very few still use things like naphtha, which I often here incorrectly attributed to the difference between the two. Naphtha was simply a cheap solvent used when the recipe was originally developed for home use back when food grade ethanol was even harder to come by and relatively more expensive. That's the only benefit which it no longer provides, especially for us at-home extractors.

Cool. This is almost how I've started making my medicine. I have chronic pain caused by extreme fibromyalgia. The only difference that I do is I add a couple of tablespoons of coconut or olive oil to make the oil more workable.

I have been. Making it for 4 years now, I had 32g of oil from 6 out plants last year and it lasts me about 18 months, I use it for Insomnia and 95 times out of 100 it works fine. I never freeze mine and always use coffee filters instead of cheese cloth.

Why do you freeze it? What does that do? The most important thing is the fan. The vapors are heavier than air and explosive. I “dilute” the RSO with coconut oil in the rice cooker that I use to cook down the RSO. It makes it easier to fill capsules. Another thing, I use 99% isopropyl alcohol. Rick Simpson used naphtha (or naphthalene, not sure). Good video! Very professional and informative!

The blender is not necessary. Break the buds apart with your fingers to remove the stems and the liquid alcohol will soak into the pieces of flower and there will not be so much fine particles to strain out after. Wonderful video!

I’ve done this without alcohol I used coconut oil and set it low for 3-4 hours it works I made butter for medicine during gut surgery and couldn’t eat much for 6 weeks.

I just put it on my finger and rub it on my gums, but that’s only with rso that tastes good, the OG kush has an amazing taste to it so I don’t mind, but I also have member berry rso and it’s bitter. It kicks in very fast like smoking and it lasts a lot longer than normal. Nice to know how to make it, I’ll probably continue to buy it from the dispo when it’s on sale, I got some today for 25$ a gram. I’m going back tomorrow to buy a sativa and at least one more og Kush. Been nice being able to get high fast without having to smoke a lot of weed or wait an hour for an edible to kick in. 50 mg edibles aren’t even strong and that’s half a chocolate bar in Colorado xD

I do mine different. I decarb my weed first. And i use sunlight to evaporate the alchohol.

If you consume to much. Slice a lemon 🍋 and just squeeze and smell. The lemon terpenes block The receptors to the THC... Fresh peppercorn one or two in your mouth also works.

I've made this but without putting it in the freezer. What is the purpose of putting it on the freezer? I also use mostly leaf. Not the large ones but the smaller ones, closest to the buds. They have a lot of crystals on them.....for anyone who grows their own. Also, you can often buy 'shake' for much less and it works just as well. Less grinding to do, too!

You can also just reduce the extract in a small rice cooker (way less time consuming) and then add coconut oil, extract in plastic syringes and place in freezer(then, also much easier to fill capsules).

if you let the filtered solution sit in bright sunlight for 2 hours before boiling it it makes the chlorophyll break down and a even cleaner product. gunna hear alot of people saying "that will make the thc less active as it decomposes in sunlight" blah blah blah. you know nothing about the rates of the decomposition of thc in sunlight. it will not degrade much. atleast not a noticable amount unless you do this for weeks and weeks by the windowsill on end. the chlorophyll however is extremely sensitive to sunlight (obviously). and will break down into carbon dioxide, water, oxygen in a very short space of time. the pros out weigh the cons. try it and tell me I'm wrong! ps: finish with a vacuum purge oven if possible
