guys if this is confusing than I can tell u .u might not lesson to me because I'm 13 but its really easy. first u need one egg ,bread ,sugar ,Cinnamon , and milk.mix the egg and milk then put your cinnamon and sugar than stir .then dipp your bread in. dipp both sides than butter your pan or whatever ur using. don't cook it to high cause your burn it cook on low or medium.that's it.hope this helps. if it does please like this comment😊

what i use: 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla 1-2 tbsp milk pinch of cinnamon 1/4 cup sugar turns out sweet and great every time!

No butter in the fridge, Eren Jaeger? Don't despair. If you don't have any butter, use vegetable oil to lightly coat the pan before you add the bread slices. Canola or safflower would be good because they don't have much flavor.

I have made this since I was 7 years old. I still make it once in a while always with pancake syrup . My grandmother made it different , I guess early 1900's they had different recipes for this, and hers was fried in Vegie Oil ( in her day bet she used bacon grease) hers was crispy on the outside, it was actually pretty good. but I think with a bit of butter is better for you

Hi, Amber Lieu - Sure! Try adding a tablespoon or two of brown sugar to the egg and milk mixture, and stir until it dissolves. Start with a small amount and add a little more at a time so it doesn't become too sweet. Remember that toppings for French toast are usually sweet too. Enjoy!

For those using thinner slices of bread, I think it helps if a) the bread is older/stale, and b) if it's toasted a bit, so it won't break down when you soak the mixture. Also, does anyone have any recommended variations for the seasoning (vanilla and cinnamon)?

Skip the salt, you don't need it. Have never added salt to mine. You've already have salt in the bread you use. You don't need to add more.

I found when putting the cinnamon in the egg mix, that most of it went on the first piece of bread or two. So now I dunk the bread, then use a shaker to add some cinnamon to both sides before booking.

French toast in french : "Pain perdu". It means literaly "spoilt bread".The stale bread you can not eat any more.

You could add 1 tablespoon of sugar to the eggs and milk mixture, but if you top the French toast with jam, honey or maple syrup, you don't want it too sweet. If you don't have vanilla extract, a good substitute is honey or maple syrup, or skip it and let the cinnamon and nutmeg serve as flavorings.
