Learning how to make soft mandazi is easy if you follow the recipe and give the dough time to rise.
3 cups all purpose flour
2 tsp instant yeast
5tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp ground cardamom
1/2 tsp salt
-Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
1 c milk
4 tbsp melted butter/margarine
1 egg
-Add the wet ingredients into a separate bowl and mix well.
-Add the wet ingredients to the dry ones and knead into a dough.
-Cover with a damp cloth and set aside to rise for 1 hr or until double in size.
-roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface. Roll it to a height of 1 cm then cut. You can cut square shapes or even use the bottom of a glass to cut round shapes.
