wow. Thank you so much. You are a walking advert for your products. I will be aiming to make items for myself as well as test batches on friends. I just made a rose water body lotion. I wanted a lychee scent. Low and behold. Rosewater mixed with certain oils gave me the exact smell. Hope the smell doesn't evaporate. Ive made up 4 litres and put them in 100g bottles that are clear to see how they fare over time. I'd hate to gift something that loses it's scent. It's white and ive tested it on my excema and so far it's ok 3 days in. I wish brambleberry were closer as we pay customs fees from the states. I am watching your videos over and over . I am unable to work short term so I would be climbing the trees without something to do. Again thank you for the links. I wish I had half your energy for life. Best wishes from eva x

This is a very informative video! I've tried other methods of perfume making, but they didn't work so well. Would it be possible for you to make a video of perfume oils? Like the roll on kind in the drams? They're the only kind of perfume that I really like to use, as they seem to last for over 10 hours, and they're fairly cheap to buy from sellers on artfire and etsy so I'd imagine the materials can't cost much which is nice for people like me who are on a budget. Thanks for all your helpful videos!

Also what is the difference between Polysorbate 80 and Polysorbate 20?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 8 лет назад
+Brie Clark Hi Brie! We didn't try Phenonip in this recipe, but I believe it would work just fine! Phenonip is a great all-purpose preservative that works in a wide variety of products. You can use it at 1% of the total weight of your recipe. I would recommend making a small test batch just to see if it works well. =) Learn more about using preservatives here: www.soapqueen.com/bath-and-body-tutorials/lotion/talk-it-out-tuesday-preservatives/ Also, Polysorbate 20 is typically used to emulsify fragrance or essential oils, while Polysorbate 80 is used to emulsify heavier carrier oils, like olive oil. If you have a trickier fragrance or essential oil, Polysorbate 80 can really help get it emulsified. We tested 20 and 80 with our perfume and found 80 worked better. It may take a bit of testing with your recipe, as each fragrance oil is a bit different! Read more about the difference in this awesome post by Susan Barclay-Nichols: swiftcraftymonkey.blogspot.com/2010/05/question-polysorbate-20-vs-polysorbate.html

Hello! A great way to resize your recipes is to find out the percentage of each ingredient. To do that, add up all the amounts in the recipe to get the total. Then, divide each individual amount by the total. Once you have the percentages, you can resize based on your spray bottle. Google result "A fragrance including water would seem richer to the nostrils since the water would aid unleash the aroma from essential oils, whereas the alcohol concentration would keep it behind. Can you make solid perfume with fragrance oil, or does it only work with essential oils?
@MrsSinette
@MrsSinette 10 лет назад
Is there any concern for the oils to mess up the plastic bottles? I remember when I first found a really nice smelling oil a long time ago. I added it to a travel size pray bottle as a way to diffuse it when I wore it. I didn't know that oils and plastics don't get along. I know you added an emulsifier. Does that play a role, or do you use a specific grade/type of plastic bottle?
@teachsoap
@teachsoap 10 лет назад
Hi, Great question! You're right, it is never a good idea to leave undiluted essential or fragrance oil in a plastic container -- it will eat through the plastic (I learned that the hard way too)! However, because this essential oil is being mixed into a base of oils and waxes, it won't eat through plastic like it would if it was just plain oil =)
@squirrel6536
@squirrel6536 8 лет назад
Can I experiment with different oils and waxes for the solid perfume? For example, do you think it'd work with shea and hemp oil and soy wax or is soy wax not a hard enough wax to work for it?
@bramble-berry
@bramble-berry 8 лет назад
You can experiment with different oils and waxes! Each one will give the perfume a slightly different consistency. For instance, soy wax is softer than beeswax so the perfume will be softer overall. I would recommend making small test batches with the substitutions to see what you think. If you want it softer, you can use soy wax or add more liquid oil. For a firmer perfume, beeswax, shea and cocoa butter work well. =) EcoSoya Advanced Soy Wax: www.brambleberry.com/EcoSoya-Advanced-Soy-Wax-P4698.aspx Beeswax: www.brambleberry.com/Beeswax-White-P4211.aspx Shea butter: www.brambleberry.com/Shea-Butter-P3220.aspx Cocoa butter: www.brambleberry.com/Organic-Cocoa-Butter-Cubes-P6365.aspx

Would Optiphen Plus be good for this recipe since it's water based?

Hi. Very hard to find Optiphen in my area but we have Acnibio MXR. Is that ok to use for perfume?

Hi - I'd like to make enough to fill a 2oz bottle. Could you give me some help in figuring out how much of each ingredient I should be adding to make up that much? Thank you!!

Would you consider a video on scent typing popular scents to make your own?

Hello, :) I would very much like to try some of your products, but... shipping to Canada is so high

Hi Marilyn! Our shipping costs are based on weight and distance, and because Canada is considered international it can be a bit more pricey. You can read more about that in our international shipping policies: www.brambleberry.com/International-Shipping-Policies.aspx Some of our international customers like to go together on orders so they can split the shipping costs. That may be an option for you! Thanks so much for your feedback. We really appreciate it. =)

So can you make the solid perfume with the frangrace oils and the spray with the essential oils?

Is there a substitute oil for the avocado oil? I have some one whom I'd like to make some solid perfume for, but they are allergic to any and all things avocado.
