Soy Milk Ingredients:
1/2 cup dry soy beans
4.5 cups water (4 for extra creamy)
3-4 dates
1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract
Almond Milk Ingredients:
1/2 cup of almonds
2 cups water
If sweet, 3 dates and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Chocolate Hazelnut Milk:
1/2 hazelnuts
2 cups water
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
3 dates

Don't throw away the leftover "soymeal" from the bag, it's called okara and can be used in lots of recipes, like vegan okara sausages. :)

Well, the okara produced this way is UNCOOKED.. uncooked beans have toxic substances.. I would not eat this okara... Unless you find a way to cook it in a recipe..

Once they start lactating, make sure you take the baby almond. The baby almond will take the milk and make it so you can't steal it!

I only use ethical almonds that are pasture raised. I let them choose which other almonds to procreate with and don't artificially inseminate them....mostly.

Go for it, nut milks are delicious af! If you intend to make something sweet with it, then I have a suggestion for you: lay the nuts out in an oven tray and bake them at around 200 °C for about 8-10 mins, you can achieve mindblowingly delicious flavours (be careful, though, DO NOT burn or brown them, you just want a light bake, so they can set free all their aromas. Stand close to the oven and keep watch)

You can make some smoothies with very ripe fruit, mashing them with a fork and using a lot of water. Obviously i know a blender is best though

It's actually easier to make nut milk in a vertical slow juicer. No nut bag required. I make cashew milk all the time in my slow juicer. I use 1 cup nuts to 1.5 cups water. Its soooooo much better than store bought cashew milk, hands down.

I make cashew milk. 1 cup of raw cashews and 3 cups of water. Blend until the foam reaches the top of the blender. No need to filter the milk. Just give it a shake before using. No sugar, flavoring or preservatives.

I don't filter any of my plant milks. More "rustic" that way, I guess, but more nutritious too. And a lot faster.

yeah you don't need it if you don't mind having some pieces in it (amount depends on how strong your blender is). I don't usually soak mine but that would make it blend better I would assume

I would suggest adding the dates (sweeteners), vanilla (flavours) or chocolate (flavours)... AFTER straining, thus leaving the pulp natural for pulp recipe (such as flour, granola, soup etc)...

I actually made chocolate almond milk. By far the most productive thing I’ve done in the 10+ years. The reward felt amazing. I’m drinking a pretty healthy chocolate milk right now!

Dooo eeeet. These days, there is a world of variety among plant milks. My latest favorite is oat milk, but I'm the only one who likes this. The trick is not to expect it to "taste" like dairy. Most don't. Oat milk tastes like oats. I like oats, so I enjoy oat milk (also, the viscosity is perfect and silky).

Good on you! Take your time, but here's some tricks to replace dairy already that helped me a lot: -Switch to plant milk -Use hummus instead of cheese on bread -For that cheesy flavor, get some nutritional yeast - great on pastas, bread... you can even make vegan parmezan with it!

Ahh, I see! That's great! What do you use the eggs for? If it's for omelettes a great replacement would be a tofu scramble - if it's for baking, there's quite many nice vegan pastry recipes and whatnot out there too! But if you simply like boiled eggs I suppose I can't think of an immediate replacement to be honest. And no problem! :D Hope it doesn't come across as pushy, just trying to help out! It usually takes some time to transition, but knowing the right recipes makes it much easier.

It's such a pain in the ass when using US recipes, I'll never understand. Pretty much everyone everywhere agrees the metric system is much more user-friendly and logical - why it hasn't changed yet is really a complete mystery to me.

Don't blame US technical people. Most of us would like to get the hell off this stupid units system. The absolute *_worst_* are project I have worked on where some of the units are SI and others English. One project had a major part that was 8 cm by 8 cm by 8 thousandth of an inch thick! Why wasn't thickness given in millimeters? Because the thin films it was built up from were all spec'ed in mils (thousandths of an inch). In a current project I have a generator being driven by a turbine engine. The power coming from the turbine is given in horsepower and the power of the generator is given in watts. At least on this one I insisted that we all work in one unit for power and since we are dealing with electrical power output which is always watts, I got my turbine guy to switch to watts. So I feel your pain.

I've never removed the skins from my almonds and the milk comes out just fine. I like to add a pinch of salt to bring out the flavor of the almonds and enhance the sweetness of the dates.

Thanks for your fun and inspirational videos! For the hazelnut and almond milks, you don't have to strain them through a nut milk bag; if you have a VitaMix or other high-speed blender, you could drink them straight up, and in that way you'll get more fiber.

My tips: I don't bother to skin the nuts. The skin will be strained out anyway. I also prefer a fine mesh strainer over a nut milk bag. It's much less work for your hands, and easier to clean. By the way, did you know you can also make milk with melon seeds? Free food!

How about starting with the amount of soaked almonds or other nuts that is right for the amount of milk you put in your morning smoothie and blending with the right amount of water. Then instead of straining it, just add your frozen fruits, greens, flax seed and dates and blending the whole thing up? I would assume that with the thick smoothie the pulp from the nuts wouldn't clump or be noticeable. And all of the pulp will add fiber.

You're not too old to gain the benefits. Think about heart disease, diabetes, cancer and weight problems. Old people, like me, have those problems big time. And going plant based gets rid of them.

I went whole food plant based no added oil in February at 65 and a half. I'm noww 66, 45 pounds lighter, off insulin, and reduced meds for diabetes. BP 110/70, cholesterol under 160, resting pulse 60. You're never too old to go vegan!

I was wondering is it would hurt to leave the soy skins on since you are going to blend it anyway. Do the soy bean skins impart any flavor or changes to texture if they are blended in before you strain it?

a Nutri bullet works just as well as a Vitamix, it's just a bit smaller, but 1/10th of the price.

Am I the only weirdo who likes to drink mixture of almond, cashew and peanut milk? I mean there is only one plant based milk readily available where I live (soy milk) so I just make my own plant based milk by mixing these three milks. AM I THE ONLY WEIRDO HERE???

Thoughts On Banana, 🍌Banana milk drinker, here, (Banana milk is my usual, go to, first, because I have no high powered blender, and second, no nut milk bag.) so, hey, Where's the carob? I'm having a rough time finding carob anywhere, and chocolate powder seems to have too much caffiene. (irregular💓 heartbeat bothering me after a tiny bit on my peaches. ) 😇🍌,🥜

I don't feel like there is an advantage to using the dates over convention sugar, because you are filtering out the fiber anyway, so it would be the same blood sugar response as regular sugar.

Dark Enforcer depends what you measure. In water its around 125ml.

Cup is a volume measure and grams is weight -- which varies by ingredient, of course. 70g for 1/2 cup of almonds or hazelnuts 90g for 1/2 cup of dry soybeans For water, each cup is about 250ml.

Did you get the part where you add almonds or hazelnuts to the water? Maybe that is where you went astray. ;-) Actually if you are comparing this almond milk to commercial almond milk it will be thinner because the stuff you can by in the store has thickeners like carrageenan or guar gum and the like added to make it taste "creamer". It is an illusion, but if you want to add this illusion to your homemade stuff I bet you could add a couple teaspoons of ground flaxseed or chia seeds before you blend it. I have never done that myself, just extrapolating from my experience cooking with "flax eggs" as a thickener/binder replacement for eggs.

The first time I made soy milk was after first becoming vegetarian in 1994, in the Dark Ages Before Nutmilk Bags. The experience . . . "catastrophe" doesn't even _begin_ to cover it. I really enjoyed these tutorials, filmed in your usual confident/self-effacing style : ) TFP!
