How to Make Spanish Rice

In this video I will be teaching you how to make My Homemade Spanish Rice.
The ingredients:
Long Grain White Rice
Olive Oil
8 oz Can of Tomato Sauce
Water
Chicken Bouillon
Garlic
Garlic Powder
Chopped Onion
Onion Powder
Cumin
Oregano
Black Pepper
Remember:
Do NOT stir the Rice after adding Water!
&
Do NOT Open Until 100% Done!
(or it will be Completely Ruined)

My grandma passed away in 2017, taking her recipe for Spanish rice with her. This is probably one of the closest recipes that I’ve seen to it.

It's April of 2021 and I have been making this recipe since 2016. My kids love it! I love it! The coolest thing is that we have shared great memories of good dinners over this recipe and now they are learning to make it too. They like it with chicken thighs. Thanks for posting this. You helped a dad feed his kids!!

this is the way I make my rice been doing it this way for 40 years my kids love it with tacos , tamales, pipian con pollo, enchiladas, Chile rojo, Chile verde, taquitos, chillaquiles, burritos, you name it we got with soup too or pozole, MEXICAN FRIED RICE CHICANO STYLE CALIFORNIA

Okay so Iam trying to make this rice but for almost 30 people, how many cups of ruce and water do u suggest??

@@isabahraini7216 I'm bad at calculating for big groups. But what I do know is 1 cup of rice serves about 3-4 pp. ** if they serve themselves two big cooking spoon fulls.

When I taught my children about cooking the rice that the secret was you just had to have faith. Do not pick up the lid! I was so happy to hear you say that. Your rice looks perfect.

My mother would make this rice for my brother and me. She is from Panama. Thank you for posting this. Many of her recipes are gone in the recesses of her severe Alzheimer’s. I’ve followed your recipe now many times for many a family meal.

I added diced onion, tablespoon diced green chilies, chopped tomatoes and sprinkled fresh cilantro on top then covered with lid. Perfecto

Hi Dianna, I am making this rice right now and I want to thank first the gal who posted this, I am a country gal and an excellent cook but I made my first attempt at Spanish rice last summer and it turned out terrible, ha my son still comments about it! But I want to say thanks to you as I added the green chilies, the whole small can plus when I sauteed the rice, I added fresh diced yellow onion and bell pepper sliced, it adds so much flavor, its better fresh to me. So thanks again!

I've made this rice a few times now. My first two tries I learned that the lid has to fit properly on the pan and to make sure that it's boiling. I'm glad that I kept trying and not give up boy this rice is so good. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

I think right now thats where i screwed up? My lid didnt cover perfectly and I think steam was escaping. Were you able to fix that or was it too late.

I ran out of tomatoe sauce and used about 6 spoons of sofrito and a packet of sazon. It came out so amazing. And i stirred it after i put in the water and it made the seasonings evenly distributed.

Do not look directly at the rice or it will be "ruined", do not speak to the rice or it will be "ruined"! I love Spanish food but this is why I don't cook and let my wife handle it cause just about anything I do RUINES the recipe. 😕

Thanks for clarifying how to actually make the rice. People make videos only about the ingredients but not about how to actually do it. I usually screw it up, probably because I put the cover on right away and then open the cover just to check it out. It always turned out mushy.

Too much water causes mushy rice. The rice absorbs the water.

Thats how my mom used to make it except she didn't season the water and she fried the onion with the rice and garlic. And she would leave the garlic in big cloves lol so you would bite into this huge chunk of garlic. I'll have to try it this way. It looks so good!

For the Garlic fine dice it. sprinkle a little salt on over it. Than take the side of your knife and spear it on the cutting board. This will create a garlic paste which will dissolve easier

I’ve always struggled getting my rice down. My grandma, mom, mother in-law have always made kick ass rice. They have given me recipes/methods and it was always a hit or miss. Now with the COVID-19, I’ve been home with my children all day. I’ve made this rice using your method over 7x and each time it was perfect!!! The 1st time I did use the entire can of tomato sauce and it was too mushy, but my kids still loved it. The next time I used just a tad bit less. Thank you soooo much!!

He's about right of water you will cut you will have perfect rice every time one cup of rice is 2 cups of water to cups of rice is 4 cups of water get it to boil first after it boils put on low heat let it simmer

always use chicken Broth remember 1 cup of long grain rice two cus of chkn broth I boil my water with cube chkn cubes then set aside make sure when pouring the broth on the rice use gloves to protect your hand from hot steam

Thanks for the recipe. I grew up on Spanish rice, but have to admit, it's one of the dishes I'm most scared to cook. Maybe because expectations from family are so high. There are so many bad Spanish rice recipes out there. This is the first one I've seen that actually looks like restaurant quality. You my dear are a great cook if you can make Spanish Rice like this. I make mine like this but use Instant rice so it wont get sloppy and soggy. I will def try this next time. Looks amazing.

Why are people complaining about the packaged ingredients? It's rice, it's not exactly a rich-person's meal; fresh ingredients would defeat its purpose for a lot of people

RTJPodcast sorry, that is absolute nonsense. Rice is made with fresh ingredients. Fewsh pepoer, garlic, onions, chicken, tomato... this is just like uncle bens or sonething like that, hopefully one day you can try a true latino or spanish rice

I loved the recipe. But the best part of the recipe was about the Heat and the lid. Those are things that I did not know about. Thank you for posting this video. Me: Babe, Im gonna open the lid and check the rice. My wife: NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! IF YOU OPEN THE RICE THE WOMAN FROM THE VIDEO WILL COME HERE AND YELL AT US!!!!! Gordon Ramsay says bring it to a boil as quick as possible then turn it to low and let it simmer until cooked. Lifting the lid won't ruin the rice you just lose a lot of steam which will build back up once you put the lid on. Only thing it'll do is add another minute or two to your cook time every time you open it. If the rice is still not fully cooked and is drying out you can always add a little more water as needed and bring it back to boil then simmer. Once you cook it a few times you'll know exactly how long to cook it and you won't really need to open the lid and check it at all.

My Nana always added chopped onions the same time the garlic went in. I've used white, yellow and green onions with no problem. Amount depends on how much rice you cooked. My Nana also put peas in before you put the lid on. I've used corn,carrots and stewed tomatoes my kids love it that way. Never used oregano. I may try that.

Thanks for the recipe, it's delicious! It works great cooked in a pot. Just be sure to add a bit more oil and stir your rice as soon as it enters the pot.

Made this yesterday after a failed attempt at another recipe I found online, that one came out very mushy and not edible in my opinion. I basically followed yours step by step and I was very pleased with the results, delicious and went with the rest of the dinner I made with it. Yum!!! Thank you very much for sharing. Only thing I did different was add some chopped up Roma tomatoes at the end.

My advice is. Dont touch it or open it after 20 mins. Give it an extra 10 mins turn stove off tho. It will give extra love . It won't get burn but leave it alone. Dont mess with jt. Just turn stove off period

So my daughter married into a Hispanic family and we all became family.. if i make authentic Mexican food they're always proud of me ..😆.. I thought I was already good at beans and rice. But I couldn't get it just right. This recipe is the one ty. 😃.. long grain tip, I was using short and eww .. also I wanted to use lard for my beans so they taste like when I was little. Mexican food will always be the most delicious and inexpensive to make. Now I need to learn fluent Spanish like my daughter. I'm understanding it more .. for fathers day I had goat fir the first time. It was good but kinda rich for me being diabetic.

I just made this recipe for the second time. Just like the first time, it came out perfect. The only change I made was i added 1/2 cup fresh chopped onion with the garlic right before adding the tomato sauce. This is the only spanish rice recipe I will ever make!
