Hi Lisa!! Great tutorial! I also had the same issue with my sticker cutting kinda off. I make and sell stickers in my Etsy shop and it's taken me the longest time to figure out why my cuts were off. I have found that I need to make sure my paper is on my mat straight. Like line up the edges of the paper to the guidelines on the Cricut mat. Second, make sure you are loading your mat in straight on your Cricut machine and it's all the way to the left. Sometimes when my mat is slightly crooked it causes the cut to shift and it ends up being off. I have found that by doing those two things I get perfect cuts every time! Hopefully, that helps! :)
I have had issues with the cut offset like you experienced, the fix for me was in my printer settings. Before printing my stickers, I had to make sure that the print file was not being resized (making sure that ‘fit to page” or some other setting is not enabled when sending the file to the printer). I hope maybe checking this setting can be an easy fix for your offset issue!
This was an OUTSTANDING TUTORIAL Lisa! My mom has ALL the Cricut stuff and it take a long time to figure out all the kinks! There’s a bunch of info out there and lots of tutorials! Would love to see an updated version of this video down the road once you use it more. Again fantastic video. 💕✨🌈
After watching way to many how to make stickers using procreate and cricut. I will say the best value this video offers me is the technique of setting up the white outlines and full bleed settings for different types of stickers. And how to clean up outlines. The procreate tips are the winners for me, my current work flow for making stickers had be bringing the files into photoshop to make the cut lines. I’m going to try this flow and see what happens. Another take way and I totally agree if you have a steady hand you waste less material by just hand cutting your stickers. I hate the waste of materials cutting on cricut.
Well, compared to Silhouette, Cricut is for people who mostly want to use pre-made designs. Also, they've been in the press recently trying to extort monthly fees from their users. Some of their software is cloud-only, a non-starter for some people. I would recommended going with the Silhouette. I have had the Portrait version for almost ten years now and it's been really great.
I’m not sure if someone’s already said this in a comment but, you can roll the Cricut wheels off to the side to keep it from scratching your work! Loved the video, you are always so easy to listen to and I feel like I’m able to retain the information you give! I’ve been using procreate for a little over a year and your videos have taught me so much!!
I have just ordered my Cricut maker and am learning Procreate from you. I am not very artistic but I want to be, hopefully I will be successful in my endeavors. Thank you for another great video!
Thank you for doing this! The cricut software is so terribly frustrating and there's not a lot of clear instructions on how to use it out there. I followed your directions to a T and my stickers came out beautifully! Excited to keep making more! 💜
Omgggg thank you so much for this! I didn't know that you could just Copy All and Paste and get a merged layer of every visible layer. I used to duplicate a canvas and then merge the layers. Thank youuu 🙏🏼
There is also a hack where you could trick the Cricut into printing and cutting a full page so not much paper would be wasted. Look it up here on RU-vid. The best tutorial is from a guy making Harley Quinn stickers :)
I’ve used printable sticker paper (not Cricut), and the sticker paper setting, and it cut clean through the sticker paper. Of course, I wanted a kiss cut LOL. I wonder if you weren’t close enough with your calibration. You can use the light grip mat with sticker paper, but you have to use a brayer or scraper to firmly adhere the paper down. I add a bit of painters tape at the corners for added security. Then use the scraper to clean the die cut stickers off the mat super quickly.
Hi Lisa! I had the same issue when I printed from my laptop and cut the project in the iPad. For some reason it tends to move items slightly when you select make it depending on where you open the project from. A solution before you print and open the project on the laptop, to select the whole project and attach them. Then save the project and then you can open it in the iPad. That way none of the items move when you go to make the project in design space in the iPad.
Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have learned so much about the possibilities of making stickers with the Cricut Maker, I will think about at the day I own one 😀 At the moment I only own the Cricut Joy which helped me understanding the different mats and the Design Space. Unfortunately, we don‘t have that awesome colour of the Cricut Maker in Germany.
Thank you so much for doing such an in depth and detailed video about different sticker types and how to do them! This is so super helpful! I did notice your cuts on the very last stickers you did looked perfect (the printable vinyl). Did you do anything differently before you made those as opposed to the ones with the pizza and bacon that didn’t cut just right? I have also heard/seen that if you place matte scotch tape over the lines it helps, and closing the top lid just before cutting if you are in bright light so the machine can “see” the lines better. My Cricut and I haven’t been getting along… I am hopeful this helps! Thank you so much!! I love your videos!!! You are so helpful and a fantastic teacher! 🎨🖌💕
I have a Silhouette machine and I’ve had all the same frustrations with it that you describe with the Cricut! I tend to just accept now that things will never be perfectly cut!
Be careful popping back and forth between the iPad and computer when using the print then cut feature. I have done it before and it did not cut right. Just trying to help. BTW I LOVE MY MAKER and just found out that they are releasing a new maker 3 on June 10th 2021. Super excited to save up for that machine. I love your tutorials on procreate your the only one I watch to learn the app. 😊
I have a brother scan and cut, but still learned quite a bit about stickers in general. B S C seems a bit more industrial, but doesn’t seem to be as popular as Cricut.
I have tried other videos that use the gaussian blur to create the white outline, and they never worked (you make the blur, then duplicate it a million time to dark). I had a bit of trouble at the start getting the adjustment right, but once I clued in to my problem, it worked so easy! Thank you!
Loved the detail of your video. Thank you. Will be looking at your balloon dog video. Need something new to do with Procreate and my Cricut. Will start making sticker sheets for my granddaughter who enters 1st grade in the fall. That should keep me busy. . .
I'd say it's easier to add the offset in your cutting software; Silhouette already do this and Cricut added it at the end of last year. It's just a couple of clicks in the software.
Oh and tip for not getting the stickers stuck, turn your mat upside down and peel it away from the stickers, not the other way around, it'll stop the curling too.
This video was great, it actually convinced me to NOT get a Cricut for now. I am going to be buying a house in about a year and right now I would have to use it a whole lot to justify finding a home for it in my small space. I think it would just frustrate me figuring out the formatting and such. I'll just have other companies print the stickers I want. Sure it's not instant gratification but I guess if I need that I will print and hand cut. :)
Hi Can you detailed video post on how much does it totally cost to start stickrr business ? Wot all supplies needed ? What all ideas/ ways for packing orders ?
Great tutorial!!! Can you tell me which is better, the Cricut or the Silhouette? Is the sticker paper dishwasher safe? Thanks so much for your help!! 😊
I always turn the volume off, add closed cations and set the speed to 25 not normal. It will drive you crazy if you have the sound on but is a perfect speed to read and slow it all down. I do this with all artists and their tutorials. First watch in regular speed and then change. They all go too fast!
I’ve been using a circuit to make hundreds of stickers since 2018 and it’s still a nightmare, it’s not you, circuit cuts off centre 80% of the time! I sell mostly greeting cards now so don’t use the circuit very often thank goodness but if I did I would definitely switch to a silhouette.
I really thought it was just me, so i feel a little better knowing the problem is turning out to be the Cricut and not the user. I hope someone out there finds a good user friendly solution. I have beautiful pricey glitter sticker paper and have hesitate to keep trying and wasting material.
This was so valuable. I’ve been thinking of getting. Circuit for a while and I’m still on the fence, tbh. What are the other things you’re planning to do with it, Lisa? I sew, but I don’t do a lot of appliqué.
*****A Quick Tip for the Rollers messing material up! And problems with cutting***** You can slide them out of the way when working with thinner or more delicate materials! It takes quite a bit of force sometimes, but it makes a huge difference. *NOTE* I am talking about the spiky white ones along the middle, not the black ones on the side. Hope that helps! *Also* I find I have much better quality cuts when I don't use Bluetooth to connect my Cricut to my device. That does mean you have to use the cable and I don't think you can get one that hooks up to the ipad, but I find it MUCH more accurate that way! I know its a pain but just an FYI.
Whenever I upload my image into cricut design it has a black outline around my design 😢 it prints that way also and cuts out with the black outline showing. Please help 😭😭😭
When I upload my picture (using Cricut on a computer), I get three options for increasing complexity of image, not the screen you show…is that a difference of Cricut on an iPad vs on a computer?
Coming here to say the same. Something is always off with cricut when you select that you’ve already printed, mine is off every time. If you work on your computer, print and then move right into cutting from your computer the cuts should be clean and consistent.
I think there’s been a lot more ad breaks on RU-vid in general. Any channel that wants to generate revenue. Unfortunately with more people at home, it’s how RU-vid makes money. Maybe try watching on a browser with ad blocker
I just found a handy trick in another video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D45g0CodvxA.html) I thought I would share. Instead of duplicating your stickers in Design Space and arranging them individually, you can just change the number of “Project Copies” on the “Prepare” screen (the screen that shows the preview of the mats) and the after you’ve tapped “Make It”. It will show you in real time and will arrange the stickers automatically to fit on the sheet. I don’t know if this is the most efficient was to make use of your sticker paper, but it does seem to save time when getting ready to print then cut. I hope this helps someone!!
I actually don't and I just released an article (and a TikTok video!) explaining why: bardotbrush.com/stuff-you-can-make-with-your-art/#procreate-color-profiles TikTok: www.tiktok.com/@bardotbrush/video/6964828159258660102
Interesting. I tried to do glossy stickers today and the machine said it couldn’t read the registration marks. I’ll try doing the design on matte paper tomorrow.
I think the reason why you had a problem with it is bc you selected no bleed on your computer but on your iPad if you look at it you have bleed on in your iPad just rewatch the video you’ll see what I am saying
